We stayed in a room with 2 queens for 4 days. The rooms are fresh and clean. The staff is amazing and very friendly. The manager/owner she was very helpful and is always around. The grounds are well kept and so is the pool. My kids enjoyed the picnic area and we loved parking our car at the hotel and walking to the foot bridge beach. We will certainly be back again. Thank you for an amazing stay!
We stayed here over the Father's Day weekend, and we were very happy with our stay. We were in room 407 up the hill in back of the office. We were somewhat nervous after reading the reviews. This was our first time staying here. Our room was clean, no stains or musty odor, and the grounds also appeared to be well taken care of. We found the staff friendly; however, we did not have any issues that needed to be addressed/resolved during our stay.
Our family has enjoyed The Milestone every summer since the early 1990s and we had no reason to believe that the high standards it was known for would not continue under new ownership. That was not the case when we spent a week there last August. The surfaces in the room were dirty, the carpet stained, the wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling and there was evidence of mice. The pool was inadequately maintained, the gate around it mildewed in places. But the most bothersome thing was the rude staff. At the end of our stay, I was given the number of the manager whom I called. I explained very calmly what our experience had been and she just became aggressive and sarcastic. Still, when we were in Ogunquit recently for a few days, we stopped at the property hoping to see improvement and the possibility of going back. We found exterior peeling paint. Railing balusters that were rotted thru last year had still not been repaired. And, the pool water was dirty. We understand from locals with whom we spoke that lots of people have been just horrified at the deterioration of this once pristine property. Really hard to believe. . .…
We have been going to the Milestone for the last 20 years without any problems (even through cancelling). During the pandemic, this property was sold to new owners. We have tried to cancel our booking for May 2022. The first night has been paid by credit card and it is impossible to get refunded as we should. We called the owner twice while she said that the refund is refused by our bank. She said she will call us back, but never did. We now have to complain directly at hotels.com and they will help us. The new owner is very suspicious. We will definitely look for a new place for our futur travelling in ogunquit, probably Juniper.
My spouse & I have been coming to The Milestone for years & loved it....under the previous owners! After last year's stay under the new owners, we will never return again! It was understandable not having the continental breakfast & not having housekeeping services due to COVID last year. However, the landscaping (previously beautiful) was all dead except for the weeds. We were told the pool would be open, which it never was. We thought the filthiness and mildew smell of the room was our biggest complaint, which instead turned to be mice in the room. While we never saw the mice, they were obviously there, having eaten through our shopping bags from the Kittery Outlets and chewed through much of the clothing we purchased. This year, we look forward to staying at the Juniper Hill Inn, which (along with the Gorges Grant) is owned by the previous owners of the now deplorable Milestone.…
We cannot believe the positive reviews for Milestone. Our stay was disappointing after many years of staying under previous owner. Our room was musty, dirty, and fit for a poor hostel! Staff were rude. Breakfast was what you could buy for a fast food pastry from 711. Never again!
Stayed at the milestone last year under old ownership. Was a little concerned when I was reading all the negative comments but my roomie stayed here many times prior and did the booking. Reasonable pricing! We asked for an accessible room same as last year bc there is a pull out for the third person. I found it to be very clean except for a rug stain that was in the doorway. Large walk in shower We were in an end unit so pretty quiet. ALL staff encountered was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was adequate, understandable due to covid restrictions Not a fan of the packaged danish but it was nice selection of cereal and yogurt. Short walk to Footbridge Beac for scenic am walk
Stayed here one night last week. My first room, right by the check-in, smelled musty and I was glad they changed me to another building. That room was pleasant, everything worked just fine. Nothing spectacular but solid enough, especially at a discount rate.
We have stayed at The Milestone many times prior to covid. New ownership now. Gone way downhill! Rude proprietors, unkempt and unclean room with dirty vents, carpet, mildew smell and more. Will never stay here again!
You might say I have hotel ptsd so finding The Milestone was a welcome relief. It was simple, felt safe and was very clean. Ann, the desk attendant, was simply the loveliest person ever and not just with my sister and I. I observed her kindness with several other customers as well as her willingness to take time to direct each of us to various points of interest in the area. At Ann's advice, we were thrilled to experience a new (to us) Italian restaurant and it just made the entire trip fabulous for us. Thank you, Ann! Sure do hope our paths cross again someday soon!
