We booked a 2 night stay, and arranged separate packages for each night -- the first night was an "activity package' that included a spa visit (off premises, but nearby) and complimentary breakfast the next morning, and the second night was the 'dinner package' with a restaurant from a range of options and again, free breakfast the next morning. The receptionist was friendly, professional, and very helpful in arranging the bookings. The day before we arrived, she called to inform me apologetically that the hotel restaurant would not be available for breakfast on the first morning, and she switched my charge to a AAA rate, to reduce the amount. Very much appreciated! The room we were given on the first floor was comfortable and clean, and the housekeeping staff was very nice. The spa visit (Your Body Works) was fantastic! We hadn't brought swimsuits so did not use the indoor pool (the outdoor pool was not yet opened for the season), but there were several people enjoying the somewhat chilly water! After a nice day on Friday, we went to have dinner at Angelina's, which was amazing -- a real treat! We had slept well the first night, but unfortunately the second night we were awakened at 12:45a.m. by a smoke detector alarm going off in a room around the corner from us. We went into the hallway, and no one was in sight. We knocked on the door of the room, and got no answer. There was no staff at the front desk, so we returned to our room and dialed the number for the front desk; a recording directed us to dial an outside phone line to alert the security staff, which we did. After approximately 5 minutes, the security guard arrived and told us they cover both the Gorges Grant and the Juniper Hill properties, and have to travel between the two. They reported that there was no guest registered in the room where the alarm was sounding, so they opened the door after knocking and disconnected the alarm, which appeared to have a battery malfunction. We returned to our room and there were no further interruptions. We did agree that it was a bit disconcerting that no one else had reacted to the alarm, and that we had not realized there was no staff onsite overnight. The breakfast restaurant at the hotel is a very nice open space; the single waitress was VERY busy but was smiling and efficient as she buzzed around among the many tables, and the food was good. As we checked out, the manager chatted with us about the previous night's disruption of our sleep and apologized. While he commented that there are some staff shortages due to the pandemic etc, he did not make excuses, was sincere in his acknowledgment of the inconvenience, and offered a compensation for the inconvenience. Again, an action that was honest and commendable. This hotel clearly wants their patrons to have a good experience.…
We loved your place and the rooms were clean and beautiful , the staff was very friendly and helpful and absolutely loved your garden pool area , we would definitely stay here again !!!! We had a great time and we were close to everything. Also we went during Covid and everyone was safe and followed protocol. Close to beaches and marginal way , we definitely want to go when we have more time and would stay here again !
We stayed at the Gorges Grant Hotel for a week for our 50th wedding anniversary. It was our first trip to Maine. The restaurant at the hotel has a daily breakfast which is way beyond outstanding--food quality is #1, prices are great, and the restaurant staff is superb. Our room was kept immaculate, and the main desk staff was so helpful and friendly to our every need. It is by far the best hotel we have ever stayed in--we had the most beautiful experience at Gorges.
We needed to escape our home while the realtor held multiple open houses & private showings. My wife was looking for a place at the last moment for the weekend. Hotel had competitive rates & availability. Local coastal activities were a welcome stress buster. We had a great weekend based from this venue. We were in the building to the left of the main structure. Room was clean, roomy & comfortable. Late night check in was most accommodating. Would have been 5 stars if complementary basic breakfast was available on site. We were not interested in paid breakfast, given our late night arrival. Staff was welcoming & helpful with local pointers!
The hotel is nice, clean. Hotel staff was very helpful. The reason behind taking away a point is because after everyone was in bed a staff member came to our room with a noise complaint. Now, this was about 10:15pm, all of us in bed. About an hour before I could have seen someone being upset with us but not at this time. I was pretty upset by this. We didn't eat breakfast as it seemed pricey, and looked like a lot of elderly patrons. Pool was nice enough. It is close to everything. I'd say this place is better suited for couples or old people. Not so much kid friendly.
