Recently, my husband and I enjoyed over a week at the Stage Run. Our balcony room was comfortable, and we enjoyed the sunrise view of the ocean as well as the sense of privacy and quiet. The Stage Run is on Route 1, about halfway between downtown Ogunquit and Ogunquit's Footbridge Beach. We enjoyed our walks there, but in season, there's a convenient trolley service. On a hot summer day, I think we'd choose the trolley. ;) Initially, older reviews of the Stage Run concerned us. But when we arrived, we learned that - since autumn in 2021, I think - the motel has new owners. Even better, the motel's new manager, Dylan, was eager to make sure our Maine holiday was pleasant, and - as a local - he shared fun insights about things to do and see while we were in the area. The Stage Run's rooms are somewhat "old school" - but with all the expected luxuries (free wi-fi, a refrigerator, microwave, etc.) -and that added to our sense of comfort. We slept well, especially since we could open the windows (screened, of course) in our room and enjoy the fresh, salt air. Over the past six months, my husband and I have visited many delightful places along the East Coast, from Florida to Maine. Among the many hotels and motels we stayed at, the Stage Run is one we'll return to next time we're vacationing in southern Maine.…
Nice little motel. Room was spacious with two double beds. Neat and extremely clean. Brittany in the office was very helpful with recommendations for restaurants for breakfast and dinner. It was quiet and peaceful since the outdoor pool was closed now that it’s Fall. Very near to the Ogunquit and Perkins Cove area. Short ride to Wells, Kennebunkport and York. We’d definitely stay here again.
This was a great last minute stay as I drove through Ogunquit for the night. The room was extremely clean and located in a great area right off the main strip in between footbridge and Ogunquit beaches. Both within walking distance. The town full of shops and restaurants was also easily walkable. I was welcomed with a smile and check in was a breeze. Thank you for a great stay, I’ll be back for sure when I have more time to explore your amazing town.
This was a great spot for a family of four if you’re looking for a simple motel with no frills. Our kids are 4 and 6 and they loved it. It’s not the cleanest, or nicest place we’ve stayed but it was fine for the amount of time we spent in the room. It’s a little over half a mile to downtown and an easy walk or scooter to town. 3 stars were just for basic cleanliness. The bathroom was slightly un-inviting. The fridge had mold along the seal. One of our windows didn’t have a screen. And the cleaning product they used smelled very strong. We had to air out our room for 24hrs. But we weren’t here for a fancy resort. We came to ogunquit to enjoy the outdoors. So all in all, I would come back again. Hopefully they’ll do some updates soon.
The woman at the front desk- Debbie was unfriendly and dismissive of my concerns. When I said the window latch was off, her response is "it's broken". No apologies or understanding that we wanted fresh air in the room as it stunk of mildew. Also, the bathroom was old and dirty. The sink was part of the main room. Lastly, Debbie and Britney did NOT wear masks. Avoid staying here as there are plenty of other places that are cleaner with friendlier staff.
Friendly staff, the room was clean and comfortable. It is a small motel of about 32 units with an outdoor pool that is well maintained. It is nothing fancy, but that isn’t why you visit Ogunquit Maine and surrounding communities. It was a bit pricey, but that is expected during tourist season. A good overall experience.
Can’t say enough about this motel. Just 2 minutes from the center of town with reasonable rates, a pool and exceptionally clean rooms. Will definitely be recommending this to friends. Refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer - everything you could want in a good size room.
Looking through all the booking sites, I think we snagged the last room in all of New England on Sunday night of Columbus Day Weekend. So our expectations were not real high. But after a long day's driving through three states to reach this place, we arrived exhausted and were so very pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious and clean, the beds comfy, and the owner friendly and helpful. Thankfully, we weren't gouged on price--it was a good value, and the owner even let us keep our car parked there while we took a long, leisurely mid-day walk on the Ogunquit beach, which stretches for miles. We would definitely stay there again.
I did a lot of research before booking our stay at the Stage Run and I am so glad we did!! As soon as we got home today I had to write this review. Deborah couldn’t have been more sweet! Extremely accommodating and generous. Their motel is beautiful! Updated, clean, wonderful pool, plenty of parking comfortable beds and ice for our cooler! What more could you want! EXTREMELY well priced!!! Friendly staff and conveniently located! We will be back next time we visit Maine!!
Once again our annual stay at Stage Run by the Sea was fantastic. My husband & I have been coming to this area for 15 years & no matter what our daily excursions are we always make the Stage Run our home-base. Always immaculate inside & out. The owner, Deb is just great. She gives us great ideas for restaurants, shopping or local festivals that might be going on. The hotel is located a short distance from center of town but still close to all the restaurants & beaches. If you happen to be a smoker, this hotel still has 2 smoking rooms available.
