We had a really great time and the resort was clean and the staff very pleasant and accommodating. We went to this area because we wanted to dig for gemstones, and there were plenty of places to go to. The grandkids, 5 and 8, really got into it. We also had lots of places to go kayaking, swimming, and hiking. We would go back.
This resort has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Rooms are spacious, comfortable, clean, and well-furnished. The workout room is great and the pool was a nice perk. It’s a beautiful, low-key part of Maine.
I got a horrible foot infection from the spa area. Wound up spending the night I paid for in the ER. My foot was turning black. When I told the hotel rep what happened, instead of expressing any regret or apology he flat out denied it was possible, basically calling me a liar.
I was here for a conference in the summer. It's right at the base of ski hills, and there is nice hiking. There are activities on the nearby river. But the tennis courts need to be repaved and did not have nets or a complete fence around them. The swings were broken and overgrown. The dresser drawers in my room were dirty, so I could not put my clothes in. The AC unit was very noisy, making it hard to sleep. And the vent blew the air into the curtains, so it did not reach the room efficiently. The porch had not been swept in a long time. The AC in the conference room was not working the first day and it was hot there. We voted not to have the conference there again. The food was pretty good in the restaurant.
We stayed here in March 2022 and reserved a room with two queen beds. We wanted a suite but the going rate for two nights was $2000 (not including lift tickets.) So we reserved the room, and that was over $900 for two nights. Yikes. We had high expectations and frankly I felt this place was barely a 3 star hotel. For that kind of money, lift tickets should have been included. Anyway, the hotel is well used and a bit tired. Not particularly luxurious. The exercise room was large and well equipped. A plus. The hot tub was a bit on the small side considering the capacity of the hotel. Pool was okay size. The restaurant is Camp. Food is good (we had breakfast and dinner), and breakfast was included in the room charge. We found the staff to be a bit rude and unhappy. Maybe it had been a long season. The young lady with blond hair at the bar was miserable. I think we tipped her 30% and she still glared at us the next night when we stopped by for a drink. They have ski check which is right by the doors to the slope. That was helpful. And it is nice to be slopeside. Really nice. All things considered, this place is fine. It's just not close to as nice as it should be considering the cost. As for Sunday River, it's a large resort with plenty of terrain and lifts. The ski shops are very good with lots of high end equipment and apparel. The bars are okay. Foggy Goggle is good enough, and the staff there is great.…
This is a lovely resort in such a beautiful part of Maine. We especially enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and sauna, as well as the sweeping Mountain View’s. The staff there are very friendly and helpful. We had one meal at the Camp restaurant and it was great! We highly recommend Grand Summit.
Stay 4/30-5/06/2021. Good post ski-season room rate through travel organization. Front desk took our VISA card # for security. Front desk advised NO housekeeping services would be available. Reasonable, since the whole hotel was practically empty. At checkOUT we were advised that it was RCI's "policy" to charge an additional $182 for housekeeping, even though NO housekeeping services were ever provided during our stay. NO mention of this was made at checkIN. We objected. Later review of VISA statement confirmed that on 5/10 they charged the $182 to our VISA, although NO housekeeping services were provided (well, unless you count a roll of toilet paper we had to request from staff - that's pretty expensive toilet paper).
I found the staff to be less than welcoming.. there were no drinking glasses in our room and the room itself was hot and stuffy.. you would think that during CoVid the staff would be glad to have customers, even at end of season.. and u would think that the air circulation would have been updated. All in all a less than stellar experience. Would never return.
My son and I decided to spend two nights at the Grand Summit because of the location and the fact that it is ski-in, ski-out. We got to Sunday River on Friday and skied until 4. We were pretty wiped out from a 4-hour drive and 5 hours of skiing. We called to check in early, but our room wasn't ready. We drove around for 45 minutes and checked out Bethel, bought food/drinks for the room. I tried to check in again...room still not ready, and no idea when it would be—no suggestions about what to do while we waited, so we waited in the car. Luckily, we were called about 20 minutes later to check-in. I've never heard of such a late check-in before. The room was dated but clean. We had a murphy bed and a pullout. Both were squeaky and uncomfortable. The room was so hot, we kept a window open, but it didn't make much difference. Also, we could hear everything in the hallway, and it sounded like people above us were trying on their ski boots at midnight. W…
Hotel was great and it is ski in ski out. Ordered 6 tickets for 3 days with hotel One of my kids was coming the next day, The hotel could not change a ticket. Never a problem before. Told us to ski down and they can fix it. Five of us have to wait for the 1 human to change 1 ticket for the next day. Line was 1/2 hour. Finally they change the ticket. 3 days later they say the ticket does not work. Wait again for the 1 human and 20 minutes she actually says. The person did it wrong and you have to see my supervisor. Get on a bus and go to another peak. I have 5 people waiting in line to ski and this person actually expects me to wait for a bus to go to to another area to fix the mistake their person made!! And she was serious. I told her to get on the phone a call her manager and fix it. This is absurd. This is moronic!!! This has nothing to do with Covid or lack of staff, this is truly idiotic!!! Hotel great, lift tickets insane!!! …
