We had a great get away weekend and enjoying our time at the Waldo Emerson Inn. Hannah was always available for any questions, spoiled us with breakfast, and the atmosphere of the Inn was very welcoming. Very cool history and the location was very easy to venture into town and local restaurants.

We had a great time at the Waldo Emerson Inn. We were greeted to fresh baked cookies, a beautiful home (complete with an interesting tour), and a comfortable, quaint room with a working fireplace. Hannah, the owner, is also an excellent chef, so the breakfasts were delicious. All around fantastic place to stay...highly recommend.

We have stayed in the Kennebunkport area many times, and the Waldo Emerson Inn has to be one of our favorite spots we have stayed. Hana was not only an amazing cook but also embodied the warmest hospitality. Hana also gave us amazing recommendations when we traveled up to Portland. Would highly recommend. Jared + Tiffany

Let me start by saying I'm not one to leave reviews but my wife & I had such a great experience at the Waldo Emerson Inn that I wanted to share my gratitude to Hana (owner/innkeeper) for her amazing hospitality and cooking. The inn itself is beautifully decorated and well maintained with such great history. Our room, Ralph's Library, was spotless and very quaint. Hana is a wonderful host who went out of her way to not only provide excellent service at the inn but give us the best recommendations for sight seeing and local eateries in the Kennebunkport/Portland area. It was our first time in Maine and Hana was the perfect ambassador. I highly recommend staying! Thanks again Hana...we hope to see you again soon! BTW, it's been 2 weeks and I still have lobster rolls on my mind!!

The Waldo Emerson Inn is one of the best experiences to be had in Kennebunk. Hanna was constantly in contact with us to provide us any detail that might make our trip just a tiny bit better. She greeted us with warm cookies and a smile. Upon learning that I had recently been given a very restrictive diet, she immediately set out to learn the parameters and find ways of accommodating me. Breakfast was lovely every morning. Hanna is one of the warmest people you will meet. After 15 min she is a family member and close friend. Our room was elegantly laid out with numerous personal touches. The Bed... wow we slept until 8 got breakfast and went back to bed until 10! We had a fabulous time in Kennebunkport / Kennebunk for our anniversary and our stay at the Waldo Emerson was one of the best parts of the trip. If your traveling to Kennebunk and staying anywhere else you are really missing out. We cannot wait to invent a reason to come back. We've been home 1 day and are already looking at the calendar to set up our next adventure in Maine.

My husband and I stopped for a couple nights at the Waldo Emerson Inn towards the end of a two week trek down the coast of Maine. The Inn was well kept, nicely decorated and the Innkeeper provided a delicious breakfast, even having Gluten Free offerings for me. She provided wonderful suggestions for excursions as well as restaurant suggestions for our stay in Kennebunk and for the duration of our trip. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

I booked this room as part of my husband's birthday trip up North. Having been to Maine many times over the years, I wanted to visit one of our favorite places, Kennebunkport area. I looked at the reviews on TripAdvisor as well as the website and called the inn. I had a long conversation with Hana, the owner and told her that I wanted a large room with a stand alone shower since I had mobility issues. She assured me that the room was large and had a shower even though we had to climb a staircase which was hard but not difficult for me to do. I clearly saw the layout of the room and thought it was a nice size and beautifully decorated. I was never told there would be No housekeeping for our stay and I was never told that the promised robes would not be provided due to Covid protocols. When we arrived, we were impressed with the charming look of the inn and Hana was very welcoming, showing us the historic features and beautiful common rooms. We also loved that this was a pet friendly inn and were happy to see the different dogs who came along with their owners. When we climbed the stairs, I had some difficulty but it was no problem. There was a lovely tea/coffee station at the top of the stairs including snacks which were provided. This was a welcoming touch. When Hana showed us the room, I was confused since the layout was so different from the picture. We soon realized that the placement of the bed, nightstands, and chairs made the room very difficult to maneuver in comfortably. There was no place to put our suitcases and unpack without hitting a wall. The closet did not have any room to place our suitcases or hang any clothes. Instead, there was a small chest of drawers in the dark closet. Frankly, moving one chair out from one corner and putting a larger chest of drawers in its place along with a pole in the closet would have been much more advantageous and comfortable. We never watched the television so we think the tv placement with the bed is what made the room difficult to maneuver in. The bathroom was modern, clean, but small too. If I knew the dimensions of this room, I would have booked a much larger one. We enjoyed having breakfast in the dining room rather than the kitchen and Hana provided a delicious breakfast every morning but we think there should be a choice, especially if someone does not like yogurt or stuffed french toast. We met lovely people In the beautiful common room which is very comfortable esp. with the gas fire on a chilly. However, one problem was with the Covid protocols and guests. We were pretty upset that with all the Covid rules about protecting guests there were guests who did NOT have any vaccinations and proudly told us that they were so healthy and ate so much kale that they were protected. If there is NO housekeeping, then all guests need to be screened. We enjoyed Hana's homemade goodies for two days but then the next two days they were not provided and Hana was not in the inn. It was not easy finding places to eat lunch in particular since so many restaurants were closed for the season or closed Sunday and Monday. Otherwise, the inn was a lovely stay and I would recommend staying there as long as you know the clear details of its size and configuration.

I am so sorry to hear that your stay with us was less than expected. The room you booked is our most recently renovated room and the layout was specifically changed to accommodate two chairs and create more space than the previous configuration. The inn is 268 years old so we are very limited in what can be done and the size of the bathrooms. This however, is part of the charm that attracts most visitors. When you called this was the largest room available at the time of booking that met your requirement of a walk in shower. We advise all our guests that we are not doing daily housekeeping due to recommendations from the CDC and state agencies during COVID. However, we accommodate all requests and if you had requested housekeeping or robes we would have gladly provided them. We change towels on a daily basis. We are not licensed as a restaurant and due to staff shortages we do not offer choices at breakfast but we accommodate all allergies, restrictions and "preferences". We ask 3 times prior to arrival and had I been told you had specific food preferences I would have gladly accommodated you and your husband in tailoring a menu that would have suited you better. Part of the unique experience of staying at a small property with a gourmet chef is the surprise the chef makes for breakfast. We are following all Maine COVID protocols and due to HIPPA we are not allowed to ask guests vaccination status. Traveling during COVID is a risk mitigation that each traveler must make on their own. I live at inn and was present everyday but unfortunately sometimes it's imperative to leave and run errands. Unfortunately I had a death in the family during your stay and I was unable to make cookies for a few days as they are all homemade. My apologies for not meeting your expectations and I hope you will give us another opportunity to host you.

The Waldo Emerson Inn was the most amazing experience we could have asked for! The Inn keeper, Hana pays attention to the details like nobody else ever has. We arrived to fresh out of the oven cookies. She personally took us on a tour of the home and gave us all of the fun historical details of the home. She is a gourmet cook and the breakfast she provided was beyond amazing!!! She left doggie bowls, treats and a bed for Millie which was unexpected and so appreciated! The house is so tastefully decorated and every room offers some special treat to adore. Theres an “on your honor” open bar and you never know what treat Hana has for you such as homemade breads or Maine apple cider. They have these cute bikes that I took one afternoon to see the houses in the area up close. I highly recommend doing that!!! The bed was beyond comfortable and anything we needed was promptly taken care of. We actually found ourselves wanting to spend more time at the house than we anticipated because it is so charming! So many thoughtful touches that will forever be in our hearts. I cried a little when we left. What a wonderful experience!
