Beautiful, clean room. Comfortable bed. Nice and quiet AC. Great location. Great room service. Friendly and welcoming staff. Easy access to hotel and room with the virtual key. Continental breakfast included. We definitely will be back!
I had some questions/concerns based on other reviews of the Grand Hotel. We travel extensively for business and fun. We booked a "Grand King with Balcony" and were assigned room 202. We got to Kennebunkport early, so we went to the Kennebunkport Inn to pickup physical key cards. We also had the app downloaded. The front desk at the Kennebunkport Inn was helpful and welcoming. The overall hotel feels up to date and clean. It has an elevator. Upon getting to our room, we were impressed with the cleanliness, quality and size. Everything was modern- the bathroom was excellent. The balcony was large and perfect if you wanted to look out onto the main street. We had no issues using the key card and/or the digital app. The hotel was plenty quiet at night- barely heard anyone else, and it was sold out. There was no real noise from the road despite our room facing the main street. My feeling is others who gave the property low reviews were due more to mismanaged expectations than anything else. I can understand if you are not comfortable using your phone as your key. I can also understand if you expected someone at the front desk when you checked in or if you were looking for more amenities such as a restaurant/bar in the hotel. All of this, though, is stated on their web site and should not be a surprise. What was a positive was how welcoming everyone was and willing to help in any way! We loved our first visit to Kennebunkport, and look forward to returning- we'd definitely stay at the Grand again.…
App/Virtual Key did not work upon check-in. No physical key was left for us as was stated in the texted directions. Had issues with access that were resolved by the Kennebunkport Inn staff but resulted in my girlfriend and myself missing part of our planned event. Would not recommend as the stay was tarnished by this experience.
Great location. Hotel did not provide cleaning service or towel replacement without repeated requests. If there was a Covid restriction in place it would have been nice to have been informed. Stairwell carpet was dirty and needed vacuumed as did the room carpet. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was nice. Breakfast was delivered in the morning outside our door for one person despite two being in the room! There is no attendant on site but the Kennebunkport inn staff (sister property) was very helpful
The Grand Hotel was nothing short of perfection! We stayed for three nights and the room was beautiful as were the amenities they offered. What a treat to wake up, open our door to a bag of pastries, juice and fruit. Our room was clean with lots of clean towels. I recommend this hotel for all it offers along with the location in the heart of Kennebunkport!
While certainly far from the most luxurious options in Kennebunkport, our two-night stay gave us what we needed: a place to stay and park right in town and CLEAN accommodations. We were really worried about the previous reviews on the hotel's cleanliness, and let me put those fears to rest. Our bathroom was super clean and without mold. No complaints. For us, the "bagged, continental breakfast" did not work. Have no fear--the French cafe is right across the street!
We just returned from our trip and can verify that some of the other negative reviews are valid. The pullout sleeper sofa is unusable so I would not recommend booking if you have more than 2 people occupying. Our daughter had to sleep on the cushions which is not ideal but the real issue is complete lack of service. We reached out no less than 3 time plus directly asked maids when we ran into them for an additional blanket and pillow. She was forced to use the provided robes for blankets. No attempt was made to fulfill this minor request nor did we receive a call back when leaving a message. Lots of auto generated texts thanking us for our stay but complete lack of customer service and will not rebook on our next visit to kennebunkport. Room was acceptable though I don’t think the price aligns with overall value.…
The WORST hotel ever. *arrived at 3 pm check in time. Doors all locked. Called phone. At least someone answered, told us keys left in container near front door. Wow! Now I feel safe. Anyone could grab those keys. 😔 *No staff on site ( except two lovely ladies cleaning rooms. I asked them for hand towels, they apologized— no hand towels arrived today! Really? They tried so hard to help). *Hvac remote was indecipherable. Had us on a Celsius system—really?) *4… count them….4 hangers in the closet. * called phone number for help with hvac system at 8 pm. Said leave a message!!! Really? REALLY? *sent a text to their helpful phone number, received a smiley face reply they were only available 8am-6 pm. REALLY????? * so we are stuck here with no staff on site. No service.
I do not recommend staying at this hotel. Our experience was a very unpleasant, for various reasons listed below. For starters, the carpet in the rooms were dirty, the shower was moldy and there were hairs in the tub, upon arrival. The remote for the fan did not work properly, so the rooms do not cool off in the heart of summer. We had multiple rooms and all of them had the same issue -- leaving me to believe no one has checked on the rooms in a while. The bathroom in the lobby also had no soap during our entire stay, which is especially outrageous during a pandemic. Cleanliness aside, there is absolutely not service here. (And it is a not a cheap hotel.) They have a "contactless check-in" system, but unfortunately, this goes beyond no one being there greet you upon arrival. When you need help, there's a number listed to call or text -- but there's no one to answer! I have never heard of something like this. We had to walk to a different property to get maintenance help for our room. We tried multiple times to reach a manager, but we were not able to speak to anyone. Our stay was horrible -- it actually soured our Kennebunkport experience in general. This is worst hotel I've stayed in. I have never written a review like this, and I'm only doing so in hopes that this can prevent others from making the mistake of staying here. I truly don't believe this hotel should remain open, as it clearly cannot serve paying customers in a functional manner.…
Pull out couch is THE WORST BED EVER. Even though we booked for 3 people and clearly needed the pull out bed, it did not have a blanket or comforter. It took an hour for someone to bring it, and this was at 10pm. There is no one onsite to deal with issues. Management did not acknowledge the problem the next day. The room was over $650/night. We felt totally ripped off and will never stay there again
