We recently stayed 4 nights at the Wanderer and quickly fell in love with its cozy cottages and its staff. We reserved a one-bedroom cottage which was plenty of room for two of us and just as charming as it appeared online. The owner and his team have an eye for detail and keep the grounds meticulous. Everyone is so hospitable and go above and beyond with so many extras throughout the stay: Continental breakfast delivered to the cottage, evening fires with smores kits, and even a parting gift. We took advantage of the bikes to ride into town (Kennebunkport) and borrowed a beach parking permit for easy parking at the beach. We will definitely be back for another stay at the Wanderer!

Property's Favourite Review
We were deciding where to go this summer when we happend upon an article about the Wanderer Cottages. We thought it looked great so we booked it. Friends said they drove past it and it was adorable...and they were right. Situated on a corner, you drive up and it is the cutest place. The reception area is warm and inviting. Check in was easy. There are approx 16 cottages. We stayed in Nomad. It was beautiful. If I could have them come and decorate my house, I would. The bed was really comfy, the bathroom is a 2 parter(toilet/shower and sink/mirror separate) which was great. There is a mini fridge. Housekeeping came every day and replaced everything. The rooms are on the smaller side, but it was fine for 2 of us. The staff was lovely and helpful. They have bikes which you can take. The beach is a little over a mile away so you can ride there. They also have small beach chairs(like stadium chairs) that you can also take, both complementary. I will say our favorite part of staying here was the "breakfast surprise". Every morning by 8:15, there is a cooler hanging from a hook on your porch with the yummiest breakfast from a local bakery. Every day was something different and delish. Bagels, danish, yogurt, etc. We loved it all..and it was one less meal we had to think about. The cottages are centrally located to Kennebunkport..probably a 5 min drive and 25 min to Ogunquit. We spent time in both and loved them both. The only bummer for us was the pool has not been inspected by the state yet, so it was closed, but we got over that. And, it should be open very shortly. It is small but looked amazing! Taylor, the GM, is so sweet and so knowledgeable about the area(he is from there). The staff is so nice, it makes you never want to leave. If you are considering staying here, try it...you wont be disappointed.

This was an amazing place to stay! Shannon and her staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful with local suggestions. We use the bikes they had on site to ride to the beach. The heated pool was great on a 70 degree afternoon. The cottages were well decorated with comfortable and clean linens. We had a great time meeting other guests each night out at the campfire. Just an all-around great experience you won’t regret booking!

What a surprisingly marvelous experience! All the staff we encountered was friendly, courteous, and went out of their way to be helpful and make you feel welcome. We were a bit concerned that the rooms were only 200 square feet, I’ve got closets that big, but, we never felt cramped or lacking for space. The rooms were clean and the grounds well ket. Parking was adequate. The little things they add were unexpected. Bikes and beach chairs were available (free). Keurig coffee makers and pods in the room. Even the makings for smores (the first ones were on them) that you can cook over an open fire. Breakfast delivered to the cottage and left by the door every morning. There was more than enough food, we even took some home. When we checked out they gave us a goodie bag for the ride home, nice touch. The only negative I could come up with is that it would have been nice if they had a small covered area outside to eat at. One morning we were there it rained and we had to eat in the room. Overall, it was great. I can’t wait to go up there again!

We loved these cottages! Very stylish and comfortable in the cottage. The grounds were very well tended to and the nightly fire with s’mores was a nice touch. The pool was also great for an afternoon dip after the beach. This felt like a great value for a new place. We’re guessing the secret will be out soon. So many nice touches from breakfast, to good bye bags, afternoon cookies, free bikes and baskets. Service was super.

Such a gorgeous property! We are staying in the three bedroom house on the property. So clean and beautifully appointed. Everything is here - toiletries, towels, gorgeous made beds- ( we usually stay on Cape cod and have to shlep our own bedding and towels)- Brand new beach cruisers to use, lawn games, bocce, welcome bags and drinks, smores packages- the details are amazing-pool, fire pit- every detail is perfect- The young woman at reception could not be more welcoming, knowledgeable, kind, and professional!!!!! We are totally WOWED!!!

I almost don't want to write a review so this place so I can keep this secret a little longer but its too great not to share! My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights over 4th of July week. We usually stay in town but saw this on the Condé Nast hot list and decided to give it a try (and were pleasantly surprised to see it was half the cost of other places) . It was packed in Kennebunkport for the holiday and all the inns/hotels we had dinner/lunches at in town were overrun with people. We were so happy to retreat to this serene, gorgeous, quiet escape at the end of each day. The rooms are decorated to Maine chic perfection and we were pleased we got the big cottage for space. The pool is delightful. You will not have a water view or be able to easily walk to places from here- but its worth it. Staff was kind and helpful. Breakfast was admittedly so-so- but we just went out and got our own. I do wish the closet where I hung my dresses hadn't also been where the coffee maker was but that is a small gripe. Bravo to the owners- what a wonderful addition to Kennebunkport!

We stayed here on vacation with our dog over the summer. The property was brand new and they were still working out some of the kinks (very understandable), but they were very dog friendly and parking was easy and complimentary. Our cottage had very fun maritime decoration, though it was exceptionally small—a surprise given the size of the property. The free morning breakfast was a welcome amenity, with excellent pastries that varied each day. The location is definitely off the beaten path—you have to drive to get to both the beach and the town, and there is only one food option within walking distance. But for the price I would recommend a stay here.
