We came to the Keepers House for a quick trip after visiting our son at camp for parents day. It was far better than we imagined and we had high expectations. Mitchell drove us to the start of two amazing hiking paths. The food was incredible - gourmet and fresh ingredients. We stayed at the oil house. I would highly... More

If you yearn for a beautiful, secluded getaway on a wild, rocky coast this is your place. We have stayed in many beautiful places- but our time at the Keeper's House was truly unique and will be an unforgettable memory for years to come. A stay here is like stepping back in time. You are truly spoiled by 3 wonderful... More

Highly recommend for (at least slightly) adventurous travelers who don't need a mini bar nor a marble bathroom, and who do want a real Maine island experience with fabulous staff, gourmet meals, comfy clean accommodations and scenery to die for at every turn. We can't wait to go back and stay longer next time. The Oil House is heavenly. Thank... More

This is not a place for those who feel anxious if they can't check facebook every 5 minutes. It is a beautifully forested island, only accessable by boat. Part of the island eccompasses part of Acadia National Park. The historic Keepers House is charming. Dinner is preceeded by a lovely "coctail" half hour. Appetizer plates are served and the guests... Facility is rustic but comfortable. Island has challenging hiking trails and beautiful scenery. Top floor of the inn has a private bath and is the best room to stay in. Unfortunately, the meals leave much to be desired, and the chef is the most miserable person who has no personality whatsoever, and prepares meals that I wouldn't even feed to... More

We do our best to serve healthy, wholesome meals by our professional chef. I am certainly dismayed that this customer had such a bad experience. I have shared his concern with our chef, and we will do everything to insure that future customers will not have this unfortunate experience. I thank him for sharing his experience with us, and will... More

My wife and I recently got back from our stay at the Keeper's House for our 35th anniversary. Although the owner Marshall had recently left to return to his teaching job at a Kentucky University, his replacement host for the rest of the season was Matt who could not do enough to make us comfortable or assist with any requests.... Wow. One of the best places ever. A beautiful setting on the water on a remote and rugged Maine island. An effort just to get there. Once there, they will take care of your every need -- within reason. Very little electricity available. No internet or mobile service, although our phones did wake up for some reason one morning --... More

If you are looking for a naturally beautiful and simple getaway on the Maine coast this is the place. Sunsets and stunning views over the ocean with seals and dolphins swimming by. You can hear the ocean waves lapping the rocks from your bedroom window. Accommodations/bathrooms are quite basic but the food is excellent. Breakfast, packed lunch to go for... More

Spent 2nights in the Garrett room that looks out on the lighthouse. Wanted to get away and it was the perfect ticket. Left Stonington on the mailboat with the natives for a 40 min ride and Marshall (the owner) picked us up in an antique Ford. Weather the first 2 days was not great. First day we just hiked around...
