A refreshing step out of the "normal". Historic, nostalgic, and super cool. Like living in a Wes Anderson movie. Had a beautiful and relaxing time, love the room and the overall feel of the Mansion. If you can get the 'tower' room, then do it. Great balcony, very quiet and private, with birds eye view of area. Cool Covered bridge...

This is a truly unique find! We don't like to stay at the chain hotels while on our road trips. This place has so much history and character and is very affordable! I grew up on a farm in a house built in 1878, so this seemed like a great place to stay. The owner, Robert, is a true lover...

I had a clean room, comfortable, well appointed room. I stayed in the luxury room for two nights which had it's own private: outdoor balcony, a turret, and all the privacy one could hope for (and I love peace and quiet). I was expecting simple and I got simple, and that suits me fine. But don't mistake simple for subpar...

My daughter Carrie and I stayed at Trebor Inn in June, 2016. We got to sleep in the tower room and my daughter absolutely loved sleeping in the loft which is round and ALL windows. The 4 poster bed I slept in was like sleeping in a cloud. The owner, Robert is very nice, told us the story of Grace...

What a wonderful first experience in Maine this was! I have been traveling the US regularly and trekked all over the country since I first came to live here for a year as a foreign exchange student, 10 years ago. I flat out fell in love with the Trebor Mansion Inn. I got to stay three nights in the tower...

This was a first. The proprietor actually tried to warn me away from staying at his inn during the wintertime. He was concerned I would be too cold. He couldn't have been more honest about what awaited. And he couldn't have been more hospitable and accommodating once I convinced him a little chill didn't faze me in the least. Like...

The place is really run down, and poorly maintained. I could have dealt with the hack job repairs, and I love there being no internet, and old tube tv's with cassette tapes, and even the musty smells I could deal with- but when my three year old complained that she was cold, because the place was not heated in the...

We have had four negative reviews in 15 years but this is the first one that bore any relationship to be reality - two of the others were by petulant guests who didn't even stay and the other two were scams designed to hurt our business - as if the Great Recession wasn't enough . First things first I went...

As you can see from some of the one star reviews, this isn't the type of place for everyone. It's not modern, doesn't have all the amenities you may have come to expect. Think of it as half camping! But if you're okay with that, this place is truly a gem! The owner is friendly and the home is filled...

i thought if you rented a room in the dead of winter in northern Maine, i could reasonably expect the room to be heated. Not so. There was a dinky little heater in the room which wasn't doing anything as far as i could tell. i told him i needed to work during the day. he suggested i do it...

We don't like to rent rooms in the winter but we make exceptions for guests who are warned that you cannot heat a mansion to yuppie standards for under $40 a night, and that the maximum temperature will be 60 degrees. This the first guy to come and discover to his horror that it was true :-) and of course...

This place is old, in disrepair, dusty, and musty. Picture yourself walking into a haunted house or a "historical" home that hasn't been maintained for numerous years, and you get the picture. I didn't feel at all comfortable in the home. Wished I had followed my instinct and turned around the second I saw it. Would have paid more and...

What a charming review for Thanksgiving day :-) - But it appears to be bogus. I have not had any guests from Washington state this year and all of the balconies were redone this summer. And if I told you that was an ethernet plug in your room is it really believable to think that you would not ask where...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"The folks here at Trebor have succeeded in creating a truly original and interesting place to stay - not such an easy feat these days! as so many things become more generic. Guests have the run of the mansion, beautiful architecture and woodwork, great privacy, unlike so many other B&Bs. Luxurious sheets and beds, every room unique, come and go as you please, very reasonable prices - we could have paid 4 times as much for equal luxury a few miles away. Antiques and history galore, and a little mystery too, although they assured us the ghost was gone since the fire of 10 years ago. When we were there, there were guests staying for 10 days, and you can’t afford that most places these days. A best buy, a wonderful experience." ... more   less
