Our visit to the Brewster Inn was wonderful. We had a group of 16 who traveled 1900 miles and stayed in this beautiful bed and breakfast. Mark made our stay very comfortable and welcoming. Our rooms were very homey, clean, and accomadating. Mark is the best host. The food was delicious. We enjoyed the lovely gardens and the great history...

Sam and Cindy – I’m so happy to read how pleased you were with your stay. It’s my goal for every guest to feel the same. Every thing I do from the new breakfast recipes, new bedding and updates to the house and gardens are with the hope that each change will create an even better experience for guests. I’m...

My husband and I spent a wonderfully relaxing evening at the Brewster Inn before he set out to hike a section of the Appalachian Trail. Our room and bath -the Hideway- was clean and comfortable. Having a microwave and small refrigerator were an added plus. Mark recommended a great local restaurant for dinner. We got an early start so we...

Susan and Ralph - It’s great to read you enjoyed your time here. Thank you for the post. The hideaway was designed to give guests just what you described, a wonderful and relaxing experience. Adding the fridge and microwave was a small way to help guests enjoy some added comforts. Glad to know you enjoyed your dinner, I’m always eager...

My stay here was absolutely wonderful! Everything was perfect, the garden is beautiful, the breakfast is excellent, and the house is charming! I stayed in the Truman Room. It was very clean, charming, and I loved the new pillows that were in the room. I loved the decorations not only in the Truman Room, but throughout the whole house. The...

We felt fortunate to find the Brewster Inn at the last minute. Mark was the perfect host. I might had that this was our first time as B&B guests and will defintely not be the last. The accommodations were homey and the breakfasts were sumptuous, especially the orange stuffed french toast and the hash brown bake. Mark works hard to...

Marjorie – Nothing makes me prouder than to know first time B&B guests have chosen to be repeat B&B guests after a stay here at the Brewster Inn. I’m glad that you and your guests enjoyed time in the large living room. My hope is that all guests have that same homey experience with the food and public spaces here...

The best sleep.. Thank you for that compliment and your post! I can personally say I agree with you about the bedding because I sleep on each and every bed at least once a year. I want guests to have the best possible night’s sleep they can. In the past year I have added new memory foam mattress tops and...

I can truthfully say that this was the worst service I've ever received anywhere (and you'll see from my reviews that I have only ever had one bad experience somewhere). My friend & I made a reservation a month ahead of time for a road trip we were doing. We told the owner that we would be arriving late, likely...

Management response:

I am sorry you were so disappointed in your stay. I apologize that I wasn’t up for chit chat about your trip when you arrived around midnight. Yes, I was tired and sleepy and assumed you both were as well after driving so far. The 90 seconds was a bit of English humor (which obviously didn’t come across well). I...

Converted mansion of ex-governor and ex-senator from Maine. There aren't a lot of B&B's in central Maine, so this one sort of won by default as our choice to stay while in the Bangor area. I use the word 'area' loosely; it's a 45-minute jaunt to Bangor on a good day.... Room was clean and pleasant. This is an old...

We stayed in the Fern Room. It was very, very comfortable for the three of us (two adults and an 8-year old). Big bathroom and a murphy bed that our daughter loved! Super cozy. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
“A touch of England brought to Maine” courtesy of your English host Mark Stephens. A romantic, friendly, incredibly comfortable National Register bed and breakfast located in Dexter, Maine which is just 15 minutes off I95 and 45 minute drive to the Maine coastline, Bangor and the beautiful, scenic Moosehead Lake and Mount Katahdin region of Maine. My knowledge of the area and things to do and see is excellent. Whether you want to go moose watching, white water rafting, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, fishing, wildlife watching, snowmobiling, ATV’s, ski-ing, apple picking, antiquing, whatever you want to do, just tell me and I will know the best places to be, things to see and the right people to contact. It’s all about giving my guests the best experience possible in my part of Maine. Stay for a night or maybe a few nights, unpack, treat the Brewster Inn like home, come and go as you please and have a great time. Room prices inc breakfast, Wi-Fi, really comfortable beds, flat panel TV’s. Each guestroom has its own bathroom; some guestrooms have a fridge, microwave or fireplace. The Honeymoon Suite has a large 2 person whirlpool. The Brewster Inn is a former Maine Governor and Government Senators family home and it’s a great place to stay. Have a read of the reviews to see what other guests say. I always try incredibly hard to give every guest that walks through my door, the best stay ever ... more   less
