Before I left the UK I was looking around at short break retreats as I had planned to meet my sister in Kochi a week after I first arrived. I came across Elephant Pass on line and booked my stay with full board and yoga classes every day and with the bonus of two Ayurvedic massages a day. I arrived after a long taxi drive from Kochi to be greeted by Abilash the retreat manager , a cool drink and a blessing. I was shown to my room overlooking the garden and river and I have to say I felt immediately at home! And so it continued, every day was a pleasure to wake up to, the bird song and the distant noise of the river flowing past. Yoga was a challenge but with two excellent teachers , father Ramanand and daughter Shilpa alternating days the program was strict but accommodating of less experienced students. It was good to have the discipline to wake up early and stretch and focus the mind for an hour before relaxing over keralan style breakfast followed by a full on massage an hour later by Sachu , a young but experienced masseur . With 3 meals a day , yoga and morning and afternoon massages I felt so completely relaxed that I extended my stay for 2 more days!
All the staff are lovely and nothing is a problem. I will definitely go back next year and catch up with what are now a new family to me. Shout out to Thomas who served meals three times a day and the beautiful chef who knocked out the simple but delicious food. Bonus, if you ask she will give you a cooking lesson. For those wild swimmers out there, the Periyar river is a few metres away ,it’s clean and slow moving and wonderful to cool down in before sunset. There are several excursions you can do locally from forest walks to meeting working elephants but if you want to relax I couldn’t recommend this retreat enough. Enjoy!

I ended up staying here for two nights in Dec 2024 on the recommendation of a local friend. After 10 days prior trying to sleep to a symphony of car and truck horns (and the terrible smog) in Northern India, staying here felt like I was in another country. Clean air, birdsong, calm and quiet.

The local hosts and staff are very friendly, and the accommodation and meals are both highly affordable (for foreign visitors, don't know about local pricing). Bed was very comfortable. Can't speak to the yoga packages etc, as that isn't something I have ever done (or would be keen to try). I did visit the elephant training centre down the road, but if you are sensitive about animals being chained, then its probably not really for you.

The resort was very quiet with very positive vibes. The view was beautiful, clear and located at the riverside where the water stream symphony played round the clock.
We really enjoyed the stay and planning to repeat it again for longer period.
The resort is clean with very professional staff specially Mr. Suresh who is considered to be the alternator of the place in addition to the therapist and the other staff.

My girlfriend and I came here in January as part of our trip to Karela. The retreat, centred on yoga, clean (vegetarian) eating, and massage treatment was a great way to experience some authentic Indian ways of living. The surrounds to the resort are fabulous as they overlook the Periyar River. All of the staff were very accomodating while Thomas (waiter) and Vipin (masseur) particularly stood out with their attentive service. Vipin was excellently trained in the delivery of Ayurveda therapy through massage, which can be an awkward enough experience for those who are unfamiliar (me) with the process. Vipin's professionalism helped greatly.

In terms of minor details, depending on the package you have booked, you will spend your time around the resort (with the exception of a potentially afternoon trip daily). The food is provided according to a menu of the day, though dietary requirements of the guests are well adhered to. Our two night stay was ideal in terms of time spent here and for longer stays I would encourage you to be sure that you are very comfortable with the resort's ethos.

Was good atmosphere and really felt a good peace of mind …..also the team was supportive and kind. The place was really silent and good specially for the people who like calm and quiet atmosphere. I would Recommend this place and kindly request management to keep some refreshments in stock always like some varieties in juices and bottled juice drinks.

I stayed in for a week in April 2024 and had a wonderful stay. It is an idyllic location and set in a jungle setting on the edge of the river with mountain views. All the staff here were lovely and went out of my way to make me feel comfortable. The yoga and massage treatments were amazing and I felt completely relaxed and happy during my stay. I definitely hope to return one day.

I stayed for one week, having booked a package with two yoga sessions a day and the ayurvedic treatment. The stay was excellent. All staff are very friendly, offering great hospitality. The rooms are very clean. The food is vegetarian/vegan Southern-Indian and cooked fresh. Yoga sessions in the early mornings and late afternoons were well instructed. As for a few days I was the only guest taking classes I had a few 1:1 sessions and could really work on some new postures under the guidance of yoga master Solaman, an experienced and skilled teacher. The relaxed package was rounded off by two daily therapy massages and a steam bath. After one week I feel well relaxed and reinvigorated. Exactly what I have been looking for.

I would like to recommend this resort to everybody, who is searching for a calm place. Retreat is located directly on the bank of Periyar river, so just to sit somewhere and observe the flow makes your mind fully relaxed. I spent here 3 weeks, had Ayurvedic treatment twice a day and Yoga class once a day, too. The staff is really amazing here, big thanks to therapist for their knowledge and treatments. I was enjoying delicious Ayurvedic food cooked by Smitha, my Aniyathi❤️, served by Thomas. Purushottaman chetta was every morning ready to prepare hot water for me. And Devi chechi, your smile and care did mean so much for me❤️ Abilesh, the manager was everytime ready to help. Special thanks to the owner and his wife, for taking me for a trip. I had an opportunity to let known Kerala traditions. And thank you Vipin, for your friendship and help, for recommending me this wonderful retreat, for your treatment skills and for sharing Ayurveda knowledge with me, also for showing me all the places, we visited. All of you really made my stay enjoyable.
