This was our first visit to the Lookout but won't be our last. The place is a little out of the way but the drive is scenic, as is most of Maine, but worth the trip. Their menu is a bit limited but my husband and I both found items we wanted to try. I ordered the filet mignon and...

Maine Yoga Adventures came together to celebrate the full moon, yoga, healthy food, and community at the Lookout Inn. I reserved 4 out of the 5 rooms (a wedding party had taken the 5th room) on the 3rd floor. Once we had settled into our rooms around 6pm, one of my adventurers came into my room and said that her...

I loved this place! It's very quirky, and this won't appeal to all, but we both loved the interesting people who work here, the rooms and even the dripping shower. The location is unique - right at the end of one of Maine's many peninsulas and only yards from the beach - and this, coupled with views of ocean and...

Cozy house for two couples looking out over the bay. Great place to relax and enjoy the sunrise and ever-changing tides. The house was well- stocked overall (kitchen a little low on important cooking/serving items) and was clean and attractive. No wifi, which can be frustrating or also add to the relaxation. Be prepared for ticks, especially if you bring...

I was looking for quiet, off the beaten path, on-the-water, but within day trip distance to Acadial Lookout Inn was all of that PLUS incredibly friendly, helpful owner and staff. I had dinner in the restaurant two nights and the crab cakes and duck with rubarb/lavendar sauce were lovely. They went out of their way to make me comfortable and...

This place is a classic Maine B&B. The house is well maintained, but nothing fancy. Bathrooms have been refurbished, with pretty basic fixtures. The location is what makes this a truley unique experience. A huge meadow slopes down to the wonderful beach and provides a great place to walk or just sit and view the ocean. We had the corner...

My stay at the "Lookout" was lovely!. The staff was welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful from the get go. The owner Butch onsite but not in your way to make you feel right at home in the Maine way. The photo's on the website do not do the Lookout justice. The Inn and the property reflect a part of Maine of...

This is a lovely B &B type of inn. Old house with lovely rooms great views. No frills but such a gorgeous setting. Very friendly staff. Food simply cooked. Blue Hill Bay is gorgeous and most rooms have views looking out. The inn is very old with of character.

Went here with 2 other friends and the location is what your going for, not the sleeping accomodations. The beach is a real rocky, icy water. We were there in August. The Winter house is where we stayed. We had a great cooking kitchen, which we like to do. But the walls are paper thin, and the bathrooms are both...

To say The Lookout has character is an understatement. The place itself proudly displays its long heritage, also on display is the real character - its proprietor. Great setting makes this place very popular for weddings, often booked for sizeable family gatherings. Rooms at the Inn (main house) vary widely as to amenities, cottages are an excellent option but are...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Lookout is a classic Maine shore-front inn with B&B inn rooms, cottages, fine dining and catering offerings. Come back in time with us. The Lookout has been owned by the same family since 1762, and operated as a shorefront getaway for over 130 years. Our cottages are pet friendly, have kitchen facilities, decks, barbeques, everything you need to relax with a panoramic water view. Inn rooms sport classic furnishings and come with a full breakfast, often cooked by the owner. Our meadow overlooking six diffent bodies of water is the perfect place for your wedding, family reunion, or other catering event. It is even great for plain old fun with frisbees and kites. The Lookout shoreline gives its guests access to a kayak launch (the rock by the apple tree), sunning (and swimming for the bold), low-tide walks to our kissing trees and beyond. Getaway with us and be treated like a real person. We have time to talk. We even cook your eggs to order. We support the easy, no-fuss, simple getaway, with a touch of fine dining class to boot! We will know your name and be expecting you-- even if by note :-) because we are small and owner run. Come get to know us. We will get to know you. See you soon. ... more   less

“Don't go to the inn when they have an upcoming wedding on the property - total chaos.”

“Not up to date, so you may want to bring a window fan if staying at the winter house. I cannot speak for the rest of the property, but my guess after walking thru the main hotel house is that they do not have ac.”

“The Inn itself, according to friends was wonderful. Ask for information on the many accommodations on the premises.”
