I regret that we only had one day to spend in this area because it's a charming, relaxing place with a lovely view! Comfy cottage with everything we needed. The manager (owner?) was friendly and helpful. I recommend Colonial Gables! Convenient and clean!
This place was great right on the bay. Private little cottages with kitchenettes. Literally 3 minutes from town. Bar harbor is 40 minutes. Bangor is 40 minutes. Great little restaurants, a gas station open 24/7 right down the street. The wife and i loved it. The cottage we had was probably too small for a family to stay, but there are bigger ones.
We had a king/kitchenette suite cottage. Rather non-descript from the outside, inside was quite well appointed with wood ceilings and a large bathroom. There was limited closet space however. Staff were super friendly and accommodating. We really liked Belfast and the hotel location made for easy access to explore the Searsport Marine Museum and Penobscot area.
The cottages were spotless and cozy. Had a beautiful smell of fresh pine and we were pleasantly surprised. Loved that when we checked in after dark, the lights were on. Would highly recommend. On the bay and the deck had a small table and two lounge chairs.
I just stayed for 1 night but it was the best stop on my 10 day trip through New England. I arrived around 5 and was cheerfully greeted by the owner. Check in was fast and friendly. I reserved a king motel room but they also have separate cottages on the property below the motel and closer to the water. I was in unit 73 on the end. It was quiet and peaceful. Room was freshly sanitized for safety but after opening the windows and door to the private deck (which overlooked the water), the disinfectant smell soon dissipated. The unit appeared to be newly remodeled. Yes it was a small room but very cozy, with a king bed, big flat screen TV, small table with 2 chairs, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Nice big tub/shower in the remodeled bathroom. New hairdryer on the wall. Bed was firm but comfortable for me. 2 deck chairs on the back deck. Ample parking out front. Check out was fast and both owners thanked me for staying. I would definitely stay again if I am ever back in the area.…
We wanted to do a 3 day weekend but nothing was avaliable in the area for Columbus Day, but we were able to book a cottage here. We stayed in cottage #8 and it is beautiful! King size bed, full couch, recliner, kitchenette, patio and a view if the ocean. What strikes me is how quiet it is here. It could be different in the summer but right now in mid October, there is hardly anyone around and so quiet. We walked the beach, sat at the outdoor firepit and thoroughly relaxed. Big plus, our dog stayed free! We will return.
This facility has cottages and a row of rooms (like the old style motels). We got a room which was acceptable but small. No shelves in the bathroom for supplies, the bed was comfortable....the staff was friendly...we had to leave a day early and the staff refunded our last nights cost ...so would i recommend this facility...if a 2 to 3 star rating is enough then this is a pleasant enough facility..its a 5 min drive to the town of Belfast which is a pleasant small Maine town and about 2 hours to Acadia national park (if you are in Maine and dont go to Acadia, shame on you!!)
We were so pleased with our choice to stay here. The staff were welcoming and attentive. We were in cabin 18 which had a comfortable king sized bed and a nice, new bathroom. Everything was immaculate! We arrived after dark so the morning view was beautiful. Make sure to take advantage of coffee on the porch, we had an eagle fly over! The only thing to know is that it’s listed as 37 miles from Acadia, but it was a 75 minute drive which was not as convenient as I’d hoped. That said, for the quality of our stay and the affordable prices, we’d choose it again.
Such a cute cottage. My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights on our 25th Wedding Anniversary trip. The Cottage was very comfortable and roomy. Thank goodness for the air conditioning as it got up into the 90's while we were there. We are from Indiana and I requested a cottage close to the water and they were able to accommodate my wishes. We so enjoyed watching the tide come in and out. It was so fascinating. We spent each night looking for sea life, rocks and shells. On the very last night I was so excited to find a sand dollar. Apparently they aren't very common on this beach. We loved sitting on our porch each night listening to the water and even a storm. We used Belfast as our home base and travelled on different days to Bar Harbor and Bangor. The city of Belfast was very pleasant and accommodating. The property was very clean and quiet. They have a quiet order in place and it was followed to the tee even from the large group of teenagers on vacation. The crew kept the beach clean and the campfire fully stocked. It was our favorite place that we stayed on our entire 9 day trip down the coast of Maine. The only thing I would update is the wicker furniture. It was older and not very comfortable. Thank you for such a wonderful stay. I would highly recommend this place.…
Beachfront! We loved having the living room to be able to hang out and sit on something other than the bed. The kitchen was small, but had everything we needed. We liked having a dining table. The deck and chairs were great. The cottage was authentic -- not plumb -- but perfect; just what I would imagine a beachfront cottage to be. Grounds were well-kept and flowers were beautiful.
