Our two-night stay at the Lavendish Wild Safari Hotel was fantastic. The room was very big, cool and clean. We had a balcony with a perfect view of the bordering lake and the mountains. The location of the hotel is perfect for a half-day trip to Wasgamuwa National Park where you can see lots of wild elephants. The food in the hotel restaurant was awesome and the service perfect. We can only recommend this place and would love to come back. Thank you for a wonderful time!
First of all you get a best welcome drink and it's unique drink from the hotel land. Tamarind juice with salt round. Large Rooms. Very Comfortable 4 star property. I love this hotel. We had a small party near the pool. The lake fish bite is superb. Warm hospitality.
We stayed two days and had a good stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely. In addition, the safari arranged by the hotel was very enjoyable. We would recommend this for a fun family holiday.
I booked two nights at this hotel having based my decision purely on the positive reviews on TripAdvisor, and what a very pleasant surprise it turned out to be! We were greeted warmly on arrival by the manager Priyantha who I noticed was constantly present ( seemingly right throughout the day), and I had the impression that he was a very “hands on” person. The booking was coordinated with Ishani of the Front Office who was not only helpful on the phone, but also replied to my emails promptly giving me the rates and other information too. There were others at the front office who were equally friendly and helpful. The meals were traditional Sri Lakeland and very tastily prepared by Chef Ariyarathna and his team. Suneetha and her colleagues who served at the table were absolute gems. I had the impression that the staff got on with each other and worked well as a team. The hotel has about 24 rooms which also include a separate unit, which I think would be ideal for a group. Our rooms; 104, 105 and 204 were spacious, clean and airy. Rooms 104 and 05 being on the ground floor open also to the garden. The surrounding area is very silent with only the usual noises of the wild. We all slept very well. The hotel is situated about 3.5km from the entrance to the Wasgamuwa National Park and therefore extremely convenient. The Manager and Chef were absolutely fine for us to have a relatively late breakfast after returning from the park after an “early round” We left the hotel at around 05:45 after a cup of tea. There is a pool and also a baby pool. The garden is well maintained. The negatives are very few and could be deemed personal. I would have liked an extra towel ( we had only one large bath towel), but I am sure that I would have got one had I asked. A piece of cake or some biscuits with afternoon tea would have been nice too. A variation on the desserts would have been good, but curd and treacle , fresh fruit, ice cream and jelly was not bad either, if just a little boring. We will stay there again if we are in the area and recommend it wholeheartedly.…
It was a good memorable stay experience in Hotel Lavendish, Wasgamuwa. All staff from manager to Supportive staff were really hospitable from the check in and their response is also much appreciable. Surrounding and hotel view is unique and refreshing. Foods were also fairly delicious and attractive. Definitely recommend to visit and stay. They also help to arrange safari tour in Wasgamuwa National Park, which is home of bigger sized elephants in Sri Lanka.
A lovely peaceful setting on the lake and a nice well maintained pool. The manager has only been there a few weeks and was very helpful and hands on. The staff were lovey and friendly and the food excellent. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Would recommend the Wasgamuwa safari, and would love to return .
Safe, relaxing and comfortable stay near Wasgamuwa National Park. The proprietor and staff could not have been more helpful, organising a safari and onward transport to Habarana. Food was buffet-style with plenty of options, plentiful and tasty.
Nice place , clean, friendly staff, good food. good value for money. travelled with family and staff arranged food for kids and they arranged a safari jeep for us to visit the Wasgamuwa national park. rooms ware well maintained and clean
Well situated hotel to go on safari. I stayed in one of the 4 apartments, situated in a newly built place next to the hotel: very spatious room with large balcony, spatious toilet and after that came the shower part. All seemed to be new and everything was very clean. Very welcoming manager as well as staff who really do everything to give you a real homefeeling. The room has so much space that you could easily stay for a longer period. The property is situated next to a lake with many birds where also wild elephants use to come in the early morning or sunset. Nice garden area with pool, also safe for children. I struggled a little bit with the food as it contained all the time the same buffet morning and evening, as well as some new items, but well. There was not much choise to drink: water or water, coffee or thea. So I did fail to see the value for money there. But the rest was very much okay.…
One of the best hospitality I received from Sri Lanka is this place. All the staffs including receptionists were very helpful, specially chamila bandara, he was always ready to help us. Rooms/bathrooms were very clean. Food was ok, but on our request they prepared sandwich for kids which was too good. I love the atmosphere, view from the pool side. Wanna go again . When u are going to wasgamuwa this is the perfect place to stay.
