The view at the lodge of Lake Pedder was absolutely stunning, the food at the restaurant was very nice, the staff were friendly and the bed was comfortable. However the rooms were quite old and outdated, in good need of some TLC and a renovate. There was no TV in the rooms, no mobile service in the area and the...

The standard rooms are a bit basic and small but for a short stay are perfectly adequate. The restaurant food is fine if a little expensive (as you'd expect considering the location) The view from the deck or the restaurant has to be one of the best in Tassie. Even if just passing through stop and treat yourself to a...

We booked three nights here in the self contained cottage which were large in size but could have done with a little tlc with regards to some cleaning, windows for example. They were well away from the views though which was unfortunate as the lake views from the main complex are quite stunning. After the first night the complex had...

We stayed 2 nights at the lodge in a self contained unit. Clean and comfortable and well equipted. No complaints about the accommodation. However the food is just dread. There is nowhere else to eat, and no shops to buy food. The menu is very limited and its a bit more expensive than in a town, to be expected it...

We didn't stay here. Just lunch on our journey out the dams and lakes for the days. Lunch was great. Crisp. Fresh. Great coffee. And fair prices. And the view over lake Pedder while you eat is truly great. All in all, great way to relax on a trip of sightseeing.

Lake Pedder Lodge is the only place you can stay at Strathgordon. The accommodation is dormitory style with 2 different sections. We were in the cheaper section ( didn't have this info on booking ) and much to our surprise we didn't have a fridge. There was also no Internet or phone service but if you can forget this for...

This is the only place to eat when travelling through to the Gordon Dam. It is situated right on Lake Pedder with a superb view from the dining room. We drove down to the dam and then stopped here for lunch which was excellent. The whole place is undergoing a facelift and I would imagine it would be beautiful to...

We did not test breakfast and shortened our stay since it was raining there is is really nothing to do there. there is no trail around...

definitely worth going to stay, but let down by why I speculate as average management. the staff are all helpful and location is amazing, it is good value - it just seems grossly understaffed which made the stay frustrating. 1 person working in the morning doing breakfast and reception- crazy. she did well but so many guests were waiting an...

Make the most of your trip into the World Heritage area and stay overnight at the Lodge. Quiet, peaceful, amazing views from the dining room. Great food, excellent staff. Rooms were basic but absolutely clean and comfortable. Short drive to Gordon Dam and other scenic places to do walks or simply breath the fresh air. Several types of rooms available,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Pedder Wilderness Lodge is located right in the heart of Tasmania's Southwest National Park which is part of Tasmania's World Heritage Area. Recognised as one of the world's extraordinary natural wonders by the World Heritage Commission, it is to be protected forever from human intervention. One tree, which now sits out the front of the Lodge, was cut down in the 1970's before this protection was in place. The great Huon pine, which is about the width of a car, has its rings marked all the way back to the birth of Christ. Our surrounds, from which this great Huon came, boast everything from ancient awe-inspiring landscapes with boulders from the Jurassic period, striking mountains and lush sub-alpine rainforests with monolithic trees which range from centuries to thousands of years old, all the way to the modern man-made Gordon Dam which offers one of the world's top ten adrenaline activities. With accommodation for all types of travellers, Pedder Wilderness Lodge offers a relaxing and warm environment with a focus on fine Tasmanian food, wines and produce. With sweeping views of Lake Pedder and Twelvetrees Range you could not find a more perfect place to escape, explore, relax and enjoy our hospitality. ... more   less
