OK.....I was in the area on a business trip. A colleague comes here regularly so recommended it. He did say the service needs to be "Kept on top of". He was so right. I am all for being left alone whilst eating however once sat down and given a menu, I thought I was not going to be served or...

This place closed just before Christmas 2016. Whilst I visited a few times this review will only be helpful in saving you a wasted journey. The previous chain Hall and Woodhouse are no longer involved and I'm not sure what they'll be doing with the building.

I was looking forward to eating at this venue as we have passed the very impressive building on many occasions, and we have been told the food at the Wellington arms was great. Well we were not very impressed. Firstly a bar that doesn't cater for all. As a driver I drink becks blue or something similar but I was...

Stayed here a few times over the past year whilst local with work. Whilst in need of some investment and improvement in the rooms, it has always been a welcoming experience and stay. I've had no issues with staff or service - don't often end up having food but when I have, there haven't been any issues. Got an email...

Just had an email from the Wellington Arms saying - "Dear Guest, It is with deep regret that Hall & Woodhouse will be closing the Wellington Arms on the 18th of December 2016. The building will be transferring back to its owners, the Stratfield Saye Estate, shortly afterwards. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your...

I stopped here for two nights in September whilst on business when I arrived there was no one on reception. When I finally got my room it was dirty with cables all over the floor ,the bedside switches were at the bottom of the bed so you had to get up to switch lights off. The bathroom had loose taps...

On recommendation from friends, my wife and I and two friends visiting from the USA booked dinner at The Wellington Arms. The appearance of the building is quite appealing and we were shown to one of about 10 tables in the room by the bar. We were greeted with a request for our drinks order. From here it seemed that...

Stayed several times over a few weeks and enjoyed the stay, nothing to shout about but just fine. Well facilitated rooms if not a little dated, although on one occasion didn't have all the shower toiletries which was disappointing. TVs are very poor considering the stature of the hotel. Didn't eat much in the hotel for dinner as it was...

Really good place to stay, pleasant, friendly and efficient staff, nice comfortable clean room with power shower and the food and service were both excellent. All this at a more than reasonable price. Real scrambled eggs for breakfast not the powdered rubbish you often get at mid priced hotels. Some lovely countryside out the back also and easy access to...

I had a room at the front of the building, which was ornate, large mirrors, and a huge bed with a mattress that was a good 8-10” too small for the base. A bathroom fitted with (again) decorative and expensive fittings. However, the shower splashed water all over the floor, as the bath itself was small. All very nice, if...
