We went on Sat evening and had not booked but were able to get a table in one of the restaurants rooms. The food was good and we could have stayed for a few drinks in the atmospheric bar but we had the kids with us and had to get back

The bedroom was nice and the shower room was lovely. The staff were very welcoming and always helpful. Our disappointment was in the size of the pub itself. We had envisaged cosy afternoons in comfy chairs with the newspapers but the bar was TINY so this was impossible. We used another local pub for this but then had to drive...

I stayed here with my husband, mother-in-law and her sister last year. I had reserved two rooms for two nights, sight unseen. The rooms were great, with character and extremely comfortable beds. The food and beer were superb. We drove from here to Hadrian's Wall and were delighted to come back after a day of walking to a tasty meal....

Visited with my sons on a short family walking holiday to Kielder and called in for dinner. Lovely welcome from staff and other customers, mostly locals. Lovely open fire, homely, immediately felt at ease. Smallish menu, most of meals home made to order, typical pub grub but very well done, sentiments echoed by other diners. Good range of drinks, especially...

The room wasn't perfect, but it was comfortable and clean. The pub and the location are perfect. Good food, welcoming staff, and a good pint. A place we'd like to return to. Nearby Kielder Forest is definitely worth a visit.

Stayed 4 nights mainly to visit Kielder observatory. Lovely local pub that serves really good pub grub. Breakfast is superb. The rooms are lovely - comfy beds (I have bad back so it's important to me) and the locals are brilliant and so friendly. Staff so friendly and helpful as well. About as close as you can get to Kielder...

The Holly Bush Inn is about a 20 minute drive from Kielder Observatory, pretty much the same road all the way there too. As such, it's in a perfect location for stargazers and visitors to Kielder Water. The Inn itself had a crackling fire in the bar, with a nice mix of locals and tourists chatting away - a nice...

First visit here and hopefully not last. Very friendly welcome and shown to spacious room. The en suite is an ok size and the over bath shower excellent, very adjustable and good power from it. TV was a bit small but no big deal. Wifi is excellent, strong signal and fast. The room is spacious and well laid out, bed...

We stayed here on the 20th of December as we were visiting Kielder Observatory. Overall I was a little underwhelmed with The Holly Bush Inn. The building itself was full of character but unfortunately the decor didn't really feel in keeping with the building (this is personal preference I know). There was a large bottle of soap in the bathroom...

A proper little country pub with award winning accommodation. We are located in the beautiful Northumberland National Park and we have some of the DARKEST SKIES in England. We are very close to Kielder Water and Observatory, Hadrian's Wall, Alnwick Gardens and the Coast. There are some beautiful walks that start from the pub including an ancient BASTLE trail. We have 2 family rooms and also welcome well behaved dogs. Whether you are coming to the area to walk, cycle, star gaze or just relax we can assure you of a very warm welcome. ... more   less
