We are repeat visitors to Betty and Vernon's special little place in the swamp. We visited in May of 2010 and just fell in love with the area and our hosts so we had to make another trip to the bayous. As many others have described, the cabins are rustic with few "city" amenities but it is so nice to...

It took a while for us to find this wonderful retreat but it was definitely worth it. Both Betty and Vernon's hospitality was great. We had many questions answered and we now feel we have some knowledge of the history of the cajun people and their environment. At sunset the noise of all the animals was incredible. a true orchestra!...

The cabin was a bit basic but that is of course really not the point of staying here. The nightly wall of sound from the swamp, and Betty's stories and insights, make the place truly unique. Bring mosquito spray, though :-)

Spent 1 night here on a 3 week holiday with my family but wished we'd stayed another couple of nights. Betty is a fantastic host, she organised a swamp tour for us a gave us a tour of her place. Spending a night on the swamp was an experience I'll never forget and the kids haven't stopped talking about it,...

We spent the night there with our kids, age 10 and 8. Betty was a great host, cabin was comfortable, breakfast was delicious. Betty gave us an informative tour of the lodge and grounds, and she also recommended a fantastic airboat tour with Wayne (Bayou Black), just ten minutes away. Also a delicious dinner nearby at Bayou Delight. All in...

If you are looking for a Louisiana Swamp experience, this is the place to go. Betty and Vernon will provide you with a rustic cabin on the swamp with a tour of the property and the history of the Acadian people. Truely a unique experience and one you would not get on the tourist trail. I highly recommend this B...

My kids had such a great time at wildlife gardens. The cabin was great and it had every thing that we needed. Mrs. Betty cooked us a great breakfast and helped us with navigate around town. Thank you mrs. Betty!

The owners couldn't be more friendly, and the area is definitely NOT New Orleans. This is true Cajun country - on the bayou! You'll see alligators and hear the symphony of the swamp as you sit on your screened-in porch in the evening. A great getaway to experience a real place.

We really enjoyed our stay at Wildlife Gardens. The cabins are basic & comparable to those I’ve been in while camping. We found the occasional lizard and spider in there, and one morning woke up to a loud noise from outside. May have been something jumping down from a tree or may have been a gator bumping the bottom, as...

We stayed here for a few nights while traveling in LA and MS. We loved the cabins and the grounds were beautiful. The hosts, Betty and Vern, were wonderful. One of the highlights of our vacation was sitting and having breakfast & coffee each morning with them. We loved hearing about their lives and deep love of the area and...
