We originally planned to camp at Twin Knobs in mid October but were told as we pulled up that they were full! We knew Zilpo was on the other side of the lake but we called and they said they had sites available. We're thankful we went there as our campsite was awesome! Large sites close to bath houses. Only...

We camped here over Labor Day weekend; our companions brought along their boat. The facility is large and well manicured on a good-sized reservoir. The campsites were oversized and spaced well-apart. Restroom and shower facilities were average in cleanliness, size, and proximity. Staff were cordial and very friendly. The Cave Run Lake beach, boat launch, and overflow parking were within...

I did some random searching for places to swim in KY and came across Cave Run Lake. There are two beaches here, one at Twin Knob campground on east side of lake and another on west side, Zilpo. We personally favored Zilpo as it was a little less crowded and more reminiscent of an actual ocean beach. Water was clear....

We went to Cave Run Lake to camp. Zilpo was a large and clean camp ground. The sites were large and not right on top of each other. Plenty of bathrooms and shower houses. It was the most quiet campground I have visited. The host were nice and courteous . My opinion is this is the cleanest and well kept...

We camped at several loops this past year. The camp host were so nice to us! Ask us if we needed anything...plus the campgrounds are kept up so neat and clean! The bath houses are very clean also. We plan on making more trips out there come next year. Well worth the drive! Total peace and serenity...and the fishing is...

We weren't sure quite what to expect since we didn't reserve a site before visiting, and we had never been to this particular region of KY before. I could view images of the reservable sites online, but not the walk-up only sites. We did some research online, and heard that the H loop was the best, so that is where...

Although a flood put most of the campground under water, it was in pretty good shape. Stayed in H loop for three days this past weekend. I have been coming to Zilpo yearly since 1985 and love the campground. The host do an excellent job, are very personable and friendly and do a great job keeping the sites looking nice....

The campground was a bit flooded when we camped this past weekend but it was still a great time. The sites are mostly secluded even though the U.S. Forest Service had to go in and cut down a few trees for safety reasons and clean up from the recent storms. When we arrived the park had experienced very severe weather...

I actually have not been to Zilpo in years, but have a trip planned. I think visitors should be reminded that this is not a "State Park"...it is managed by the National Forest Service. It is a primitive campground, which is why I love it, but it operates on very little money. I am saddened to hear of an abundance...

It was raining during our stay. We rented one of the small cabins with the intentions of putting up my tent outside. The rain prevented that from happening. The cabin was ok, but don't expect a Hotel room it is bare bones but does have heat and air. The campground is several miles back in the woods but the views...
