I rarely write a poor review, because I mostly stay in hotels that have been well reviewed before by others, so I know what I'm getting into. There were positives and negatives to this 3 day stay.

Negatives: Inconsistent mask wearing by staff. One staff person was at the desk all three days, and never wore a mask. I don't care if you are behind some plexiglass, a mask is still required to protect all of us. Another staff person took her mask OFF to sneeze! I ran out of the lobby that time. Masks are to prevent disease spread from speaking, coughing, and sneezing. Keep them on, and change them when you need to, such as after a sneeze.

The night I arrived, it was cold out - single digits cold. My 2nd floor room was directly above the parking (not a garage, just open area with no walls, open area under the building), and the floor of the room was frigid! The heat system in this room struggled, at its highest setting, to warm the room at all. It took 24 hours to get it to a comfortable temp.

The room was nice, the place is in ok condition - some wear and tear. There's a small sitting area separate from the beds. Mini fridge (no freezer compartment), microwave.

My room did have a view of the Ohio River and the City of Cincinnati.

Stayed here several years ago and it was wonderful, but has apparently gone downhill. Checked in around 4:30 PM on January 19th. Upon entering our room, I could see that it was more run down than a few years ago. Carpet was frayed, some wood moldings were missing, and even the carpet in the hallway was old. That really didn't bother me too much. But housekeeping needs to do a better job. One of the beds (room 326) was not a "pedestal" and there were candy wrappers, candy, and misc "garbage" items under it. Also items under the night stand. There was lint on the decorative pillow on the couch, and the shower curtain was dirty and had mold on it. Breakfast was lackluster, with the eggs tasting like they were "powdered" eggs. There was only "Promise" and another kind of "fake" butter, but no real butter. On the good side, everyone we met on the staff was very friendly and polite. Motel is withing distance of several restaurants. I am hoping that with the Choice Chain doing major upgrades at their hotels, that this one will be on the list. It was great when we stayed there a few years ago, but unless it is upgraded, we will not stay there again.

We stayed here last summer but had a nicer room that time. When we arrived this time we were given a 6th floor room, took our luggage up after waiting on the very slow elevator and then discovered that neither of our keys worked. My husband went down to the lobby to get them fixed and my daughter and I waited. When he returned, the keys still wouldn’t work. We all three went back down that time, again waiting on very slow elevators. This time someone at the desk informed the girl helping us that the particular room she gave us is having issues with locking. So we were now given a room on the 2nd floor. This room was definitely rough around the edges and worn out. Where there should have been a couch was only two straight backed formal chairs. The heat wasn’t turned on or was extremely low and it was 14 degrees outside so it took a goo while to warm up the room. The bathroom had one bar of soap so it had to be used for hand washing and showering - gross! The toilet paper was so thin you could see through it. I’m glad we were only staying for one night.

After checking in and accessing our room, we immediately noticed the bathrooms were 'cleaned' by someone in a hurry and has no attention to detail. Hair visibly on the floor and shower areas, and the sink counter. Not a big deal, whatever. After spending the night, with a room facing a major roadway, thin walls enabling me to hear the TV in the room next door which, which leads to almost no sleep, we woke up at 7am to no hot water. I let the shower run for about 5 mins, waiting to see if it would get warm, since we were on the 6th floor. It never did, however the drain was so slow that the water backed up in the tub about 4 inches deep. After calling and alerting the front desk, since they had no idea, they stated they would need to contact their maintenance dept, as they were not yet at work. Keep in mind this is 7am, busy hotel and checkout is 11am.

I proceeded to clean up as best I could with freezing water, packed up and went downstairs to check out. I asked about the issue, was told it was the entire hotel and a reduction on the bill was not possible, as it wasn't their fault, and they didn't mean for this to happen. I was told they were sorry, but that meant little when expecting to be able to take a warm shower. Definitely not an experience I would repeat and would certainly not stay at the hotel again. Stay elsewhere unless you are ok with sub-par rooms.

We tried to check in at 4p but we were told there was not a room ready. With my husband being a diamond member I would have thought they would have had a room ready. When we came back after our night out the room we were given smelled like marijuana (incredibly strong), there was a Kroger bag tied over the smoke detector and there were white stains all over the floor. When we tried to call the front desk we had to call 3 times and each time it rang over 30 times. They had no other room for us to change to. When we checked out we advised them of the issue and we were told they couldn’t help us to call customer relations. I called customer relations and we are waiting for a refund. When customer relations called the front desk they told them we never notified them of this situation which we did twice! As a travel agent I would be wary to book my corporate clients at this hotel ever again after that incident. The rooms are a nice size, the view is good but they aren’t clean and the service was bad.

The hotel is very old and dated, so were the furnishings. I understand the hotel will go through a renovation soon, but you can charge less now. It was very overpriced for the condition of the place. Chipped paint and stains in numerous places in rooms and hallways. We did not even receive maid service for the morning between the two nights. My wife had to go to the front desk and request more clean towels. The grab and go breakfast was not very good. On your website it says that we were to receive a free hot breakfast. This is false advertising. The sweet rolls were packaged and not very good and there was not much of a selection. Very disapointed with the "free hot breakfast". The wifi was soooooo slow that most of the time I used my phone without it being on wifi. I wouldn't stay here again until it is renovated.

Not only was the hotel generally rundown and in need of some serious repair, once we got to the room and was so exhausted, we was informed by housekeeping that linens and towels were scarce due to Covid. Air conditioner filter was disgusting, we washed it in the bathtub. The vinyl curtain was covered in dirty fingerprints. The carpet had stains and was sticky. The comforter had cigarette burns in it, the lampshades were so disgusting and the front of the TV stand had run down stains all down the front of it. The manager said they were going to remodel soon, but it doesn’t take much of an effort to wash things down. I spent an hour just cleaning up. I had looked for other options to stay in and they were all booked or I would have left. Thank goodness I brought my own linens. You get what you pay for, but unfortunately, I wish I would have never paid for this. Extreme disappointment. Front desk staff however are incredibly kind.

I reserved this hotel for Labor Day weekend in Feb 2020. The rate I had for 2 nights total was $364. Then a few days ago I received an email, they had raised my total by $222 making it $587. I called Choice Hotels to dispute this. The first gentlemen that I spoke with said he had never seen that before. Then, they put me on with a young woman. They couldn't find anything. Now, surely they should have been able to see the original reservation. I told them I had the email from both the original and the last one with the price difference. I sent it them as I was asked to do. That was Mon. Now it is Thursday still no response. So, I booked a different Hotel for that weekend and cancelling Choice hotels. I never knew that once you booked a reservation that they would change it. Isn't that part of the purpose of booking in advance so you know what your costs are?

Never ever will we stay here again. EVER First I called a week before to confirm reservation I was told there was a full breakfast well guess what it's grab n go which is fine. The clerk who checked me in didn't give me a room # had to look on my key she was rude. No ballet cart asked about it was told they have 1 for 90 rooms. Really? Then my husband wanted $$ back and move on told it would be 10 days. Manager and General manager both very abrupt and rude told had to keep current room since nothing wrong with it. Sont waste your $$ here

I booked the hotel based off the advertised "hot breakfast" just to arrive and be told it's a grab and go breakfast served out of a small corner of the lobby. I understand the ongoing work as they transition to the new hotel brand but this should be updated. I would have paid the same price for a different hotel with river view had I known there wasn't a hot breakfast. Also the TV signal kept freezing and going out on our TV. We had an updated room which was nice and comfortable.

Sorry I can't. I stayed in a King on the street side this time. Have stayed in a Queen on the River side but not in a long time. Call in the evening and ask if Bentley is working the desk. Really nice guy. Probably any of the front desk staff could answer this.
