The hotel is under renovation which means everything looks dingy and old and dirty. When we got there, the couple first in line at the desk was leaving an hour after they got there because the heat in their room didn't work. Ours did, and we had hot water, so that was fine. But the shower was so weird- the shower head was so high I couldn't adjust it, and it was positioned in a way that either it hit the wall or it spewed water out of the tub. There was no breakfast area, just a tiny alcove with stuff in a fridge. We didn't eat there. It was a convenient location but across the street from a very BRIGHT store that shone light into our room all night through the crappy curtains. So didn't really get much sleep.
This hotel is nothing like the pictures from their web site. Yes they are under renovation to change to another brand. 1)Front desk day person not personable.2) there is no breakfast area, as in the pics (only have high carb grab n go). 3) Our King suite had no desk, no chair and no couch (it had two king beds) 4) The fitness center was closed (all of the other hotels we stayed at had their open). They are using their renovation and Covid as an excuse to be a lousy place to stay
Comfort Suites Newport - Cincinnati Riverfront Mary Flohr 1/5 I would give it no stars if given the chance! BEWARE! DONT STAY HERE! The a/c hardly worked. Had to sleep on top of blankets because room was hot when a/c set at 60 the lowest setting. When we first checked in our shower wasn't draining. Very old room and outdated. Paid extra to see the water but the view wasn't worth it. Got to see the restaurant trash that was overflowing in front of hotel. The day I left I was limited on what I could eat on breakfast. I was humiliated by the staff behind the desk saying I had too much to eat when it was for me and my body builder son. She further stated it wasn't all you can eat breakfast. I had put it in a bag and had two cups of coffee due to being a handicap, I could not carry food and coffee cups at same time. The bag hardly had anything in it. She was policing the food like there was a shortage. The breakfast was very lacking to begin with. She not only verbally attacked me but was discriminatory since I made two trips to the breakfast area due to being physically handicapped. My gait is off due to having severe scoliosis and hunch over with a history of a recent fall at home. This was supposed to be a vacation. I expected much more when I paid nearly $120 a night. I felt bad for my son because he was really looking forward to staying there. It was the only vacation we had this summer.…
Have stayed at the location many times. Previously the hotel was kept up. now the hotel filthy. The carpet seems to have not been cleaned in a year. When you take a shower, you can see the dirt coming off the bottom of your feet from walking on the carpet. I heard Marriott has purchased this property and is planning on gutting the hotel. This would explain the negligence in upkeep.
Not only was the hotel generally rundown and in need of some serious repair, once we got to the room and was so exhausted, we was informed by housekeeping that linens and towels were scarce due to Covid. Air conditioner filter was disgusting, we washed it in the bathtub. The vinyl curtain was covered in dirty fingerprints. The carpet had stains and was sticky. The comforter had cigarette burns in it, the lampshades were so disgusting and the front of the TV stand had run down stains all down the front of it. The manager said they were going to remodel soon, but it doesn’t take much of an effort to wash things down. I spent an hour just cleaning up. I had looked for other options to stay in and they were all booked or I would have left. Thank goodness I brought my own linens. You get what you pay for, but unfortunately, I wish I would have never paid for this. Extreme disappointment. Front desk staff however are incredibly kind.…
