As long as you can show ID and ability to secure the room with a valid credit card or cash, yes you can check yourself in. But calling ahead first is a good idea. 18 is the legal age to vouch for yourself.

we felt safe - it was my husband, our 12 yr old granddaughter & me staying here - we actually walked in the parking lot for exercise.
all rooms are accessed from inside the hotel & the parking lot had plenty of lighting.
