Well travel during the time of Covid is interesting. The21C Museum Hotel seems to take the safety of their guests seriously. We were scanned for temperature during check in and there was plenty of hand sanitizer available as well as a bag in the room containing a mask, gloves and sanitizer. The King room was very nice. The bed was very comfortable and I was surprised how quiet the whole place was. The art throughout the building is really neat and it adds to the calming feel of the establishment. I have to give props to Ashley at the front desk, she was very helpful and incredibly polite. Knowledgeable of the surrounding are and always had a smile on her face. Park at the garage next door.. can't beat $9 a day.

We visited 21C a couple of years ago to look at the artwork, but this was our first time staying over.

Our room was very nice - it was huge, bathroom was great, and out of our window we had a view of the golden butt crack of the huge statue of David on the corner!!! IT. WAS. AWESOME!!

Seriously, everything about the room was top notch. Lighting was great, toiletries were amazing, and bed was cozy.

The museum/gallery did not disappoint. We especially loved that, since we were staying on property, we could on our pj s and peruse artwork at midnight, wine in hand. It made for a fun visit.

The only thing I would change is not to eat breakfast there. The food was only so-so, and the server gave us the impression that we were bothering her. In fact, when we left, we heard her say, "They finally left," even though we had only been there about 40 minutes for our meal. Odd (and rude). If the food had been better I wouldn't mention it here, but the food was nothing to write home about either.

I recommend staying at the hotel and eating elsewhere.

Unique concept to have the museum housed with accommodations. I liked the environment. Accommodations were very nice. Food was very good The location was well placed on Main Street close to several distillery and other museums. I would recommend it.

I really wanted to like this hotel but the overall experience was disappointing. Location was great for the things we did though. The current art work on display was not very impressive. The room was large and clean however the bathroom is in need of some counter space. There is a narrow ledge above the toilet and sink but not suitable to really put much stuff without risk of falling off. I understand its covid so there is no housekeeping, with the exception of every third day if your stay is extended. I actually like no one entering our room while we're there and since we were only staying 2 nights it didn't affect us. What I don't like is the restaurant not being open for breakfast, lunch, or dinner daily. The night we were there the restaurant was closed for dinner. Breakfast was at the front desk each morning and consisted of coffee, a cellophane packaged pastry and an apple. Wow, lower priced chain hotels offer more. Thankfully they had a coffee maker in the room so I was able to make tea.
Upon check out the valet handed us our keys, collected his tip, and then ran back inside, leaving us to load our own bags. I really wanted to run inside also and ask for my tip back!
An overall disappointing experience which made our travels a little bit rougher during these difficult times. Better planning would have been to stay at a hotel which offered more services despite it being covid.

My wife and I recently stayed two nights at 21C while visiting family in Louisville. We’ve stayed in the hotel many times and always enjoyed it. However, this time we were disappointed as the hotel no longer provides daily room cleaning ( though I’m sure they find their way in to rooms to re-stock the minibars). The issue I have isn’t the cleaning itself…it is that we weren’t informed when we checked in - nor was there any note or signage in the room regarding this policy. So…when we got back at the end of our day and found the room as we’d left it, we went to the front desk and complained. They, of course, explained that due to staff shortages (not COVID) they only clean rooms after three days. Fine…I just think that this should have been made clear on the hotel website, at check in and with some sort of sign in the room. I’d also say that the apparent staff shortage ( and, hence, lower wage bill) is NOT returned to guests with either lower prices or enhanced amenities.
We still love the hotel and this doesn’t put us off coming back, I just think that management needs to make absolutely sure that guests know what to expect and that reduced services should, in some way, be compensated.

The property itself is very nice. Our room was spacious and well laid out. There’s no housekeeping if you’re staying under 4 nights. That’s a little disappointing but I understand that it’s hard to get employees. They will bring you extra towels if you ask. The room has a Nespresso machine and main and goetz toiletries. The shower gets very hot but the water pressure is poor.
The area that need work are staff training. The folks we interacted with were hit or miss. They were all friendly but more than one answered a question with “ I have no idea “. When I had a problem with the TV I was told “ yeah, there’s something weird with the TVs but I don’t know how to fix it “ There needs to be some general customer service training.
Parking is $32 a night for valet. You can self park at a lot down the street for $8 a day.
The restaurant is open for dinner but requires reservations. There is no option for breakfast. They recommended we try a place called Wild Eggs. It’s nearly a mile away and wasn’t good. They have coffee in the lobby but nothing else. I don’t think you can be a full service hotel and not have some sort of breakfast option.
While we weren’t unhappy with the hotel, the lack of housekeeping, breakfast, and knowledgeable staff makes this a one and done for us.

Stated only for one night but was a good experience. Staff was super nice, the room was good (it helped that it was a corner room with many windows) and the chicken from the downstairs restaurant for room service: It must’ve been one of the best chickens we’ve eaten. $30 for valet is a little bit steep for the area, you might find a more reasonable alternative. But overall: Would definitely go back and one day in the future we’ll also dine at their restaurant given the food was excellent.

Took our first roadtrip post pandemic to Louisville. Stayed at 21C Museum in downtown Louisville. Besides having a fascinating art museum, the staff and management were first class. Very cautous about guests wearing masks and modified housekeeping to limit housekeeping exposure. The room was great with a view of the Ohio River towards Indiana. Had a great dinner at their restaurant Proof On Main. The manager Andrew Carter was a great ambassador for the chain and Louisville. The only thing he coudn't take care of was the weather.

My first time at a 21C property. The rooms were a good size and lights in bathroom were cool. Being able to browse art whenever we wanted was cool.

Property is also a great choice for staying near the Louisville Slugger Museum/Factory. Downtown was very quiet when we visited.

Service was a little off, not sure if it is their policy or it's due to Covid, but I could get no change at the front desk and as an elite member of loyalty program I had vouchers for drinks. I could not use these for a coke (they have a very small selection of drinks/snacks) even though the bar was closed. It would be much cheaper to use for a coke, but alas, was not allowed. Very disappointing.

I reserved a Deluxe King room for a birthday weekend with my wife through the AAA website (as a club member). I also called to confirm the reservation and room type with the front desk a few days after booking. When we checked in, the front desk said nothing about being out of the room type we reserved , however we walked into a room with two double beds.

Upon returning to the front desk, we were informed that the hotel was full (and apparently overbooked for our room type), so we had been moved. We were then informed that since we booked through a third party, these reservations are moved first and we should book directly through the hotel in the future. This was repeated several times when we voiced our displeasure although restaurant vouchers were provided.

In reviewing the other one star reviews on Trip Advisor, it appears that this full/overbooking situation is not isolated to our experience, so I am highly disappointed that preventing it (from impacting me) in the future is my responsibility as a hotel guest.

Overbookings do happen from time to time and there are multiple reasons on how and why they happen but when it negatively affects a guest it is always disappointing. The front desk team is trained to try to make it right when such occasion arise but it sounds like we could have done better. AAA bookings are actually a direct booking and the team was confused. I would not think kids bfast is free (but not sure) and it is not a buffet (at least the day we were there I did not see any buffet). I would look up the restaurant for menus- proof on main.
