Three friends and I booked a Kentucky Derby package that led us to stay in the Hampton Inn Downtown, and we were impressed from the time we stepped in the door until we left 4 nights later. I arrived first, and I was greeted by three friendly smiling ladies at check in. My friends arrived within minutes of me, and as I waited for them to check in, they told me that owing to a last minute cancellation, the management was giving us a free room. This was really great as we would have been 4 women sharing one bathroom and two Queen beds. The hotel was decorated with fresh red rose arrangements throughout the premises , there was a welcome cocktail hour, and hot breakfasts were served every day. Our rooms were clean and fresh, and the beds were very comfortable. The entire staff we encountered including Sabine, Deborah and the servers and bellmen were like old friends by the time we left. Also on the first floor, there was a magnificent display of handmade Derby hats created and for sale by Linda. Our stay could not have been any better and we actually had a few winners at Derby to top it all off..

Just stayed for one night while visiting the University of Louisville. Location was GREAT, just off the expressway & only 5 or so minutes from campus. The hotel was very nice. Front desk staff friendly & helpful. Room was GREAT. Not tiny, plenty of room!! Beds were comfy. There was also a sticker on the door (& TV remote) to show the room had been sanitized and no one in after. Fridge, microwave & coffee maker in the room. Snacks for purchase right in the lobby was convenient. There were also "boxed breakfast" available, but we did not partake so can't critique it. The only negative I can say is A. you have to pay for parking in the open lot on the property (which I wasn't aware of until checkout) and B. it was LOUD. Sirens & airplanes. ALL night. Louder than a downtown hotel should be (in my opinion) I would stay again though for the price & location.

The Hampton Inn Hotel in downtown Louisville is a nice place to stay, and is convenient to many attractions, several hospitals, and many businesses. The staff was wonderful, breakfast was delicious, and the breakfast area was kept clean, with a helpful staff member. The pool, a factor in deciding on a hotel, was down for maintenance, and this was important, but not majorly inconvenient.

I paid for a room in advanced, not just reserved it, and they still sold it out from underneath me. Their offer was another room 45 miles away in a Best Western. With no car and a trade show down town, this was a horrible situation. While talking to Hilton Worldwide Customer Sevice, the night clerk started the vacuum cleaner and left it running then walked away so that my phone call would be more difficult. Worse staff I have dealt with and I used to be a Hilton Diamond member. Hello Marriott.

This downtown Louisville facility was awesome. Everything was awesome except that the breakfast attendant was lazy and failed to replenish the bacon although there was 90 minutes of breakfast remaining after being asked. Besides that, my lodging experience was awesome.

We chose here because it was just blocks from where our daughter was moving. We didn’t realize the significant homelesss population that is in downtown, BUT it wasn’t an issue! The hotel is well kept, breakfast in the morning is hot and good. Parking is $15/night and that stinks, but it’s on property with lots of security so that was good and worth it. It’s in the heart of downtown with lots of restaurants nearby. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a downtown hotel.

Cheeto under sheet, TP in pool, 5 person limit in the nice size pool, breakfast cold and no waffles. No clean towels. Overall was disappointed with cleanliness and quality especially for the money. We did like the location.

I was very disappointed in this hotel, as I found my accommodations unclean and ill-equipped. When I arrived, the bathroom only had conditioner and lotion and was not stocked with any shampoo or bath soap. Fortunately, when I made the front desk staff aware of this, they promptly delivered shower gel and shampoo to my room. I was ready to forgive that error, but then, later, when I pulled out an ottoman from below the table where it was stored, I discovered spilled peanuts and a dead bug on the floor. Gross! Had the room even been cleaned? However, by the time I discovered this, it was very late and I was too exhausted after having woken up at 4am for my flight to Louisville to bring yet another issue to the front desk's attention, and I decided that since I was only staying one night, I would just deal.

After those 2 incidents I was in a foul mood and kept finding other disappointments: only one side of the bed had a USB outlet to charge my phone, and, unfortunately, that was the side with the spilled peanuts and dead bug on the floor. The windows lacked acoustic insulation so I was continually woken by sirens, loud motors, and a helicopter over the course of the night (there is a hospital nearby, so sirens were rather frequent). There was no clock in the room. The sleep timer button on the TV remote did not work.

All this to say that this hotel fell EXCEEDINGLY far below the standards I expect of a Hampton Inn. I recommend that you seek alternative lodging for your stay in Louisville.

Great place! Breakfast had the all important waffles (but, holy cow, get the blueberry scones). Coffee and tea and helpful staff always on hand.

The room was clean but was just one click from perfect. No safe, the valet hanger was mounted at the dresser so it wasn’t useful (nothing could hang straight there), the outlet by the coffee maker only works if the plug is jiggled, and the bathroom light switch was mounted a full arms length in on the sink wall.

They had a plug in nightlight, so it was easy to find the switch.

The bathroom had a hook by the shower but could really use another by the sink for the hand towel. Anyone with more than one person I. The room will hurt for towel drying space.

While I was there, the building was under construction and the drilling was loud and ever-present during the day. I was working with a white noise machine on so I was fine, but I would have hated to need to day-sleep. While I was there, the construction set off the fire alarms. I’d give 5 stars but for the outlet and fire alarm.

Having said that, I would 100% stay here again. Safe, clean, well-lit, friendly and attentive staff, walkable to downtown, a gas station with a good market right down the street for affordable snacks and drinks, short Lyft rides to other places you may wish to go.

Stayed for several nights in early December 2019 as part of a pre-holiday get-away. We stay at Hampton because we know from experience what we are going to get. Clean, quiet comfortable room with adequate amenities and a decent breakfast included. Lots of parking, but there is a charge. Convenient to everything - easy walk to many museums, tasting rooms/distilleries, restaurants and the riverfront.

There is a sign at the front desk letting guests know that since the property is in the urban center, on a major road and very near the medical center, there may be some unwanted noise. While all that may be true, we were on the 4th floor facing Jefferson and rarely noticed any noise at all, certainly nothing that disturbed sleep. If you live in any urbanized area in the US, I doubt you will be disturbed by the noise levels here.

Hi as other's said there is free parking and the hotel van will take you to local places.. Our room did not have a microwave, but there is one in lobby. My husband and I felt safe in early evening to walk close by to hotel. My key is to know the directions to get back to the hotel. Thanks

Agreed I would call the hotel directly. I can tell you the shuttle doesn't start running until 8 am or least that was the case in May so I was unable to use this to go to the airport for my 7:30 am flight.
