4 out of 5 Nice hotel, nice location and friendly staff. Very comfortable bed. Could use a little work on the continental breakfast as far as choices and cleanliness. Room was clean. No smell of smoke animals or mildew. Would stay again.
First of all, let me say that my hotel/motel stay is basically limited to travel back and forth to Florida, so I’m just looking for a clean comfortable, good free internet, and reasonably priced room. Not interested in amenities that others might require. I drive 10 or 11 hours and just want to get out of the car and relax. I check in around 4:30 and Harold was very pleasant and helpful, I go up to my room 225 and the smell of smoke immediately hits me when I enter the room. I’m not a wallflower when it comes to cigarette smoke and thought maybe I booked a smoking room instead of my usual non-smoking. At the time, I didn’t notice the no smoking sign on the back of the door, but I remember an incident someone else had at the Saganing Casino in Michigan, where a lady was charged with room cleanup because they found cigarette butts in the trash can and she insisted they weren’t hers. I didn’t want someone to say that I smoked in the room, so I went downstairs and talked again to Harold. Once again, Harold was excellent and offered to make corrections, but I said that wasn’t necessary, so he just noted on a tablet of my concern. Back to the room and I was very pleased. The room was spacious, had the refrigerator, microwave ironing board and iron, hairdryer and anything else a person might need. I especially liked the hub with extra sockets and extra USB ports – there never seems to be enough plugs so I’ve been bringing my own power strip. Now it’s time to close the drapes and hit the hay, I can sleep during a thunderstorm, lights on, TV blasting without a problem, but when I wake up, which is usually after 2 or 3 hours, I need total darkness to get back to sleep. There comes my issue with the room. The drapes aren’t designed to close! This is the first motel ever, that didn’t have some sort of blackout curtains let along ones that closed. So I’m up tossing and turning since 2:30 and decided to write my review. If it weren’t for the lack of curtains, it would be a 5-star review and definitely a place I would reserves again next year. The bed is comfortable, the walls seem thick and insulated, and I have yet to hear a door close or slam. There is a nice indoor pool and also an exercise room, not to mention the water pressure is great I did talk to the front desk when leaving and asked if the rooms had curtains that closed other than the sheers. He (not Harold) said yes they all do and then I showed him my first picture and said this was my room at 2:30 am and he said you have to close the curtains. I said yes, that is what I thought, but as you can see in the second picture, the curtain rod doesn’t go the width of the window. “Oh, I’ll make a note of it.” I’m sure these notes end up in the circular file somewhere. If you are checking in and sensitive to parking lot lights lightening up your room, I suggest you add a sleep mask to your overnight bag.…
We checked in, no one at front desk. Finally a man came from the back. Not recognized at a gold member. I have stayed at over 100 Choice hotels in the past years. This was by far the worst. I cannot understand how Choice keeps them as a member. The bathroom floor was dirty, the bed skirt bottom was dirty and after a scream from my daughter in law, we killed a roach on the bed. I told them to pack up. We immediately checked out after someone finally came to the desk. My son had stayed at the Holiday Inn in March this year. He called them ad we got immediate room. I understand from talking with several locals at restaurant and service station that the owner has both hotels under Choice banner and they both have a bad reputation.
We had a GREAT experience!! The hotel was super clean, I was unable to find any faults in the cleanliness anywhere. We were greeted with a friendly face. I have read some of the reviews and definitely do not agree. We will definitely be back if we are in the area. Very convenient location.
My Husband and I stayed at this Comfort location while passing through for work, let me start with check in, Mr. Harold is absolutely amazing! He is very friendly, and makes sure your stay is a good one. I had to call down to let him know that temperature setting knob in the shower was broken and fell off, but my Husband was able to put it back on, Mr. Harold made sure He documented it so we don't get blamed or charged for something someone else did. The bed was ok, has a bit of a divit in the middle, so we had to put a pillow in between us to keep from rolling into each other, but it was a comfortable bed. the shower leaks outside the tub, so be careful getting it, it gets very wet and slippery. We will definitely stay again!!
Well let me say this. I have always stayed here every time I come to LaGrange. Wednesday we checked in and our room smelled like smoke. I did tell the guy at the desk and he documented it. Our room appeared clean but the next morning after I showered I sat on my bed and noticed a bedbug. I went down to the front desk and the lady gave us a large bag to put our clothes into a dryer and move rooms. I just couldn’t stay another night knowing bed bugs are present. I went back to the desk and the lady was so sympathetic and tried to make things right. We are supposed to be getting a full refund.
We booked this hotel for one night while traveling from Louisiana to Canada. The pictures on Booking.com looked fairly good and the rating was also good. When we arrived at 9pm there was a shirtless man smoking in the parking lot in 40F weather. A police vehicle came through the lot and the shirtless man tossed something in the bushes! I asked the hotel attendant if there was something going on and if we were in a bad area. He said they ask the police to patrol because they don't have security cameras. No security cameras and strange activity was a little unsettling. We proceed to check in because I'm too tired after driving 12 hours. The room was like the pictures online but VERY worn! However the bed was comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was so bad we went across the road to waffle house. The sausage tasted terrible... Like there was some strange seasoning, the eggs were watery and had a fishy taste plus there was no ketchup - anywhere! The girl at the front desk found one packet for us to share ( probably from the staff room) but it wasn't enough to make the sausage and egg any better. The apple juice was watered down and the oranges were all rotten in the bowl! Tip for management, if the fruit is bad, through it out! Don't let the customer see it! I'd rather only have cereal and toast! Will not stay here on our next trip!…
This hotel was a great choice to start our vacation. John B checked us in. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. He gave us information about places to eat. This hotel is very clean, friendly staff they make you feel at home. I would stay there again
This hotel is very clean. It has been recently remodeled and looks fantastic. The workers are very personable. The evening manager was ready to go when got there but stayed to help me get checked in. Little amenities such as homemade cookies and fresh lemon water just added to the thoughtfulness of the management. The beds were comfortable. The only complaint I have is that drapes did not cover the window. Only the sheers did.
As I was doing a project in the area, I thought to give a shot to this hotel since it had a 85% recommendation. However the hotel didn’t live up to its expectations as elevator was not working for 2 days, the internet was not working for more than 24 hours, making the management staff to react in a way that was not professional. They were blaming all the issues they had to a power outage in the area they had experienced previously, not willing to help out customers and not acknowledging that it was their fault that those issues had surfaced and that they didn’t test their infrastructure for power outage recovery al all. After a power outage things such as elevator, wi-fi and such should be up and running within minutes not days. They need to work on their infrastructure extensively to minimize the recovery and to know how to deal with customers, so they would not choose other hotels in the future. If I were to come back here again, I would say : MAYBE NOT…
