Devshree is not just a property but it’s an experience..this boutique homestay heritage property is situated on a very calm and serene lake side and the owners Shantrunjai singh Ji, rani sahiba & family are super hosts..The food is freshly cooked and served with so much love and care..we were just two couples and had an amazing stay..hospitality is unparalleled and the owners personally takes care of all the guests to make them feel comfortable all the time..there is no room Service and no TV in rooms but you don’t really miss them..trip to deogarh mahal, village safari and goramghat train rides are few activities that you can plan during this stay..must visit for an amazing experience

2 nights of the most wonderful stay in the most welcoming of private palace home stays. The family were superb hosts. The food was exceptional. Our room was beautiful. The setting was peaceful overlooking a huge lake. The staff were so friendly and helpful and we went for a lovely walk into the town. We did a really fun train ride through beautiful hilly countryside and came back to another delicious lunch all laid out on the lawn in a shady area. The high light was going for sundowner drinks and then we saw a leopard on the way back. I can’t thank the whole family enough for including us in their lives for 48 hours - I could have done much longer. Deogarh might not seem worth it being a little out of the way but this has been a particular favourite of our trip. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a taste of real India.

The final leg of our Rajasthan tour turned out to be the most exciting and exhilarating…Devshree resort at Deogarh was a home away from home more because of the people you see here…Shatrunjai Singh, my college friend and the prince of Deogarh, his wife BhavanaSa, the force behind Devshree and Shatru, and his two strapping young lads, Maha and Bhrigu…the personalized attention to each one of us in every aspect of our stay was something you don’t get at any regular resort out for commercial purposes..here it is Rajput hospitality at its most majestic…the evening jungle safari and the clinks of cheers around the fireplace is an experience in itself…the support staff at Devshree is always at your beck and call…being the prince of Deogarh, we saw Shatru get immense respect around his people..only because he has been doing so much for their upliftment..Devshree is off the beaten track and is frequented by National as well as International travelers who have heard and known about it…in that sense it is an exclusive resort for exclusive people looking for some rustic outdoors and homely royal treatment without the gloss and glitter of 5-star luxury hotels giving you an impersonal experience with amenities simply thrown at you…

Wow wow wow! What a stunning property! Perfection from the minute you arrive to the moment you depart! We’ve started at many heritage palaces in Rajasthan, but Dev Shree, without a doubt, counts under the best! We would like to thank the royal family for their unbeatable hospitality, and for making our stay so memorable. The complaint is that we couldn’t stay longer! We’ll definitely plan it for next time.

At first glance it seems to be a mirage. But as you come closer it becomes true: An absolute masterpiece of a recreation of a Rajasthany Palace, a dream come true. Dev Shree is true perfection when it comes to to the building and its position on a lake, but what makes it even more special is the care and attention given to the guests by the whole family of the owners of royal decent. For meals you are seated at a „table d‘hôte“, together with other guests and the family. An authentic experience in perfect royal hospitality!

Everything about our stay at Dev Shree was wonderful. The rooms and property are beautiful, spacious and serene with the lake and swimming pool also great. But we also really enjoyed the personal touches offered by Shatrunjai & Bhavna. It was their warm welcoming presence that made us feel like we were staying with dear friends. The food was amazing, with evening drives to gaze at the stars or the view from high on the hilltop. All up a perfect luxury retreat, we highly recommend.

What an absolute gem Dev Shree is . A beautiful family home in a lovely garden next to a typical Indian village . The family made us feel so welcome to their home , which is stunning . The lovely veranda looks out on fields and carefully tended lawns . Four very well behaved dogs live with the family . Two of them now quite elderly but they give the place a homely feel .. they remind you that this is a family home . The staff employed by Bhavna and S J are all very helpful and attentive . We had a really interesting walk through the village with V J, which is clean and friendly . It's a bit of a time warp and shows you how India was before the advent of the internet , plastics etc , each shop serves the surrounding villages. You don't feel hounded by shop keepers wanting you to buy . That evening we took the game drive which despite not seeing leopard was a great experience - again , we were spoilt and the sundowners on the rock was lovely . As for the food . Amazing ! . Pace yourself as it's plentiful and delicious . If we could have stayed longer we would have .

We are a family of 5 touring rajhasthan for the first time. We have travelled to India before (we live in the US), but this was our first time in Rajasthan. Deogarh was a refreshing break from the hotel stays in the other towns. The host Shahtrunji, Bhavna and their son Bhagyaditya are incredible hosts. They are warm and so welcoming. The hosts take the time to get to know all their guests, give information about the area and their staff really takes care of you. We only had 2 nights but we loved the feel of being in a home in a rural part of India. They also have 4 amazing dogs that we all fell in love with. There are enough activities but the it’s definitely more of a place to relax and unwind. We would recommend this place for anyone who wants to get away from the typical route. This place is 3 hours from jodhpur and 2 hours from Udaipur, so it’s quite convenient to stop here between the 2 cities. We loved our time at deogarh!

I rather fear I'm out of step here. This was a deliberately planned return to Deogarh after a previous hugely enjoyable visit 6 years before. My agent persuaded me to stay at the Dev Shree rather than an intended return to 'the place that must not be mentioned'. First off, let me stress that we were made extremely welcome and the staff were remarkably friendly and attentive throughout. The place is very comfortable but, I'm afraid, rather soulless. Clearly a huge amount of effort has been put into the design and styling but that's just what it is. I've stayed in many delightful properties across the length and breadth of India over 20+ years and the Dev Shree, understandably, lacks 'character'. The meals were beautifully prepared and served but the absence of a menu meant you couldn't 'pace' the meal. Dishes just kept appearing and we all failed to do full justice to the chef's efforts. It was disappointing that a 'fine dining' experience at an extremely pricey venue couldn't run to even a single complimentary glass of "Sula" at Dinner. The biggest disappointment is beyond the Dev Shree's control. Much of the appeal of visiting Deogarh was the delightful charm of Rural India and the Dev Shree trades on that "experience". However, the area is now overwhelmed by extensive granite and feldspar mining. The local landscape is being destroyed on a massive scale - "Sundowners" took place on a convenient spoil tip. You will have a relaxing and enjoyable stay at Dev Shree, especially if you're a relatively inexperienced visitor to Rural India. I'm just not sure that the 'package' justifies the price point.

Response from Shatrunjai Singh Chundawat, Owner at Dev Shree Deogarh
Responded 28 Mar 2023
Thank you for your feedback. We are a bit disappointed that the members of the family who are present 24X7 have not managed to add soul to this property. Our experience of staying in India is trying to replicate a home of an old family. We don't want to be commercial in pricing all our activities and drives with menu cards however those are available in the folder in your room. The next time you visit do try our experiences of 1.Farm walk 2. Treks to hilltops 3. Rural Train Ride 4. Cycle ride, etc However your feedback is well-noted and we will deliberate on the same.
