Dear Shtrunjai - Thank you very much for the hospitality extended towards us by you, family and staff of Deogarh. There are certain elements unmeasurable, your hospitality is one of them and our gratitude towards you is another. Personally I would rate the experience as the best among all the places visited in India and abroad. The place, the food, the services, peace and serenity were as good as your presence. Thanks a lot. Best wishes and regards, Ranvir Kaushik Visitors please see: Shatrunjai is the owner of the palace. When I write awesome and out of the World experience, I literally mean it. If you have not visited the place and the palace, you are missing something extraordinary.
The most fun and relaxing gateway! Do visit if you’re looking for delicious food, playful break with friends or family in a safe environment. A thumbs up for the owners and the staff for being so warm.
We spent 2 nights at Dev Shree, as a stop over as we traveled between Udaipur and Jaipur. Dev Shree is more of an exclusive guest house than a hotel. Seven rooms, all very large and well equipped, face a central courtyard. There is a large dining room where they also do cooking demonstrations, and a lovely veranda overlooking the lake and countryside. Our host, Mr. SS as he told us to call him, is actually the scion of the royal family that once ruled this entire region. He speaks perfect English and is very knowledgeable and entertaining. He joined us for meals and also is quite a chef. Part of our cooking demonstration was a walk through this small village with a staff member who showed us around and took us to buy the vegetables that would be used in our dinner. An experience you just don't get as a tourist otherwise. In the evening we took a jeep excursion in a large open top safari type vehicle driven by Mr. SS who it turns out also knows everything about the local wildlife and fauna - and of course all kinds of stories. We heard there were some leopards in the area and went in search of sighting them, but didn't that evening. Apparently they are often out however. Just an incredible experience start to finish.…
This was my first experience in a homestay- correction- a boutique residence- correction- a non hotel experience! Let me tell you how it went. The first morning itself I realised that there was no intercom to call for my tea. It was absolutely delightful to peep outside and ask a passing waiter for help. It felt like home. Birds twittering across the lush lawns, meeting with the wonderful Thakur Shatrunjay and his wife Bhavna and getting to know the culture and history of times gone by, catapulted the start of the day. For me that was it. This couple had come out beautifully out of the Pandemic. Their 8 suites with ornate restrooms looked and felt magnificent at 400 sq ft. Fluffy towels, great menus of Rajasthani fare cooked to perfection left me with memories that I was not going to forget easily.Humble staff, happy picnics, even looking for the elusive leopards that were known to inhabit the many granite mines that Deogarh is famous for kept us busy on our feet. The climate belied the weather graph as the breezes spoilt us rotten, and here we were in Rajasthan experiencing the best . Would I go back? and do it all over again.Yes I would.. …
Dev Shree is the kind of place that will leave you wishing you could just give up your day job and just retire here. Spend the dat sitting in their veranda surrounded by furry friends and be regaled by the many, very funny and heartwarming stories told by Shatrunjay ji. We went to Dev Shree for a small family getaway after many many years and Bhavna ji and her husband ensured we have the most perfect time with something special for everyone. From delicious eggs Benedict to puchkas by the pool, from a old school train ride to a after dark safari, the whole trip was an experience curated to perfection. If ethical, responsible and experiential travel is what you're looking for, then you can no go wrong with Dev Shree.
The photographs do not do justice to this property. The place is stunningly beautiful with an old world charm and breathtaking views all around. Our hosts were charming and down to earth. They gave us wonderful tips on things to do and even organized a moonlit picnic for us. The service was amazing and the staff was super sweet and helpful. They had five lovely friendly dogs that our daughter fell in love with. I would love to go back.
A lovely stress busting homestay at Devshree in Deogarh Rajasthan. Colonial Thakur Haveli with old world charm and hospitality, beautiful temples, leopard tracking, scrumptious Rajasthani food with ingredients from the estate, meter gauge train ride…….This was a trip down memory Lane and the bygone era. Thank you Kunwar Shatrunjay Singh and Bhavna Kumari for making our stay magical
Devshree is an experience that words cannot describe. The hosts, Shatrunjay and Bhavna have hearts of gold and make the stay so comfortable that you almost regret leaving! Devshree is a jewel of love , hidden in the middle of culture and history that defines India.
I’ve stayed at many well-known boutique hotels around the world but truly NOTHING compares to the hospitality that we’ve experience at Dev Shree Deogarh! Shatrunjay and Bhavna are immaculate hosts, who, from food, to history, to culture to adventure to soulful conversations, have curated an incredible experience-one that each one of us desparately needs- a place to reconnect with ourselves and to reflect on where we come from and what is worth protecting. Cannot recommend this place highly enough to anyone who’s curious about what old world Indian hospitality represents!
Dev Shree is a little piece of heaven on earth, specially thanks to the wonderful hosts Shatrunjai and Bhavna. Meticulously done, they have put their heart and soul in to this home stay and you can feel that. It’s an epitome of Indian hospitality. From relaxing in the lawns, to getting a wonderful massage by a very skilled masseuse, to enjoying a beer by the pool, to a live history lesson by Shatrunjai (a national treasure I believe) and the cherry on top- Bhavna’s warmth and dedication to making sure the guests feel at home by ensuring a spread of food I cannot even begin to rave about. It’s an ideal getaway from the stressful lives we lead today. I highly recommend Dev Shree and urge everyone to have this experience. Absolutely LOVED out stay.
