I've stayed several times at the San Carlos. La Entrada itself isn't a great place, once you get into the hotel you stay there and don't go out at night. The rooms are average, smallish, and some cramped. The food is pretty good in the restaurant, though it can be a bit slow if there are lots of guests.

I stayed at this hotel during a mission trip. I was very nervous about the trip and about this hotel. That turned out to be for no reason! The hotel was very nice. I loved the way it was decorated. I had a room with a double bed, a big closet, and flat screen tv. I never felt unsafe. The...

Clean comfortable rooms, and clean food (with clean ice, and properly washed salads). A staff that is attentive and helpful (very little if any English spoken). But, you will be well situated at the Hotel El San Carlos. Rates are high by local Honduran standards, but the quality is high as well. This is a hotel frequented by North Americans...

The staff is courteous, the food is good, breakfast is best... the hotel is clean, new addition with spacious rooms and new AIR CONDITIONING! The poolside is "perfecto"! Lush plantings all around the pool and right outside the restaurant! Great Place to stay if visiting the Ruins in Copan.

Our mission groups have stayed here 4 weeks this year. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The food is fantastic and the kitchen does family style serving which means we get food quickly despite having a large group. The staff is very helpful when we've needed to find supplies and places in La Entrada. We feel very safe here.

This is as good as it gets in La Entrada. The water pressure is low, but there's enough for a shower. Each room has its own split system a/c unit, so the reliability of the a/c varies greatly among the rooms. Some rooms have a mini-fridge...ask for one. The restaurant is quite good, and my observation of the kitchen operation...

By US standards - it was just OK. But given the climate and economy of Honduras - it was pretty good. The A/C doesn't work well - consistently, and it' a dangerous area. But that's the best you'll get. The have an armed guard, and they watch out for you when you are staying there.

Pros: Excellent service, great restaurant, good location, nice courtyard and pool area, comfortable bed, good a/c, complimentary bottled water provided, in-room refrigerator Cons: Hot water only a trickle in rooms further from lobby area and non-existent on higher floors (this issue got better the day after mentioning the problem to the management), only coffee served before 7 a.m. in the...

We stayed there while visiting TOLM.org in July 2012. Nice room with AC and a cozy bed. Very friendly and helpful staff. We never felt that our safety was an issue. 24 hour guard at the front door. The restaurant is also tasty.

The most accurate description of this hotel comes from the guidebook that lead me here: "If you have to spend the night in La Entrada, something has gone wrong, so you deserve a night at the best hotel in town." The best hotel in town is indeed the Hotel San Carlos, but given that the town is La Entrada it...
