At one time (the early '80s I'm guessing), it's clear from walking in the door that this was a roughneck's party palace...rooms all opening on a large indoor atrium with a nice swimming pool, a bar with poolside tables and a restaurant on site. It's also clear that those heady days are many, many years in the past. The only...

We went on a 22 state vacation this fall and this little motel was by far one of our favorites. The rooms were clean and spacious. The young couple who owns the motel were very friendly. They are working very hard at restoring this little gem.

This appears to be the only motel in town. The interior with the pool and spa looks fantastic for a budget hotel. Our room had a king size bed and was clean and comfortable. We loved how spacious the room was. The desk isn't manned but the lady who answered the phone was prompt and efficient. If you want new...

I called 3 weeks ago to make reservations. When i got there i did not have the room i was suppose to have. My ceiling was leaking, carpet was wet, no microwave, refrigerator, no table, the room was very dirty. Had no toilet paper. It was the worse motel i have ever stayed in. The owners to put some money...

Upon arrival there wasn't anyone at the front desk. Sign said call a number for assistance,no one picked up the phone and a lady finally came in after about 5 min. I asked for a bottom floor room, she said there were only 2 available one for us and one for a family member. Another family member also needed a...

We were in Ness City for a funeral, and though we usually stay with family, there were many family members here, and we decided it would be easier to stay at the motel. We didn't have high expectations to begin with. However, the first room we were in, sheets on both beds were either dirty or stained, one appeared to...

Going to Colorado, I40 was in the direct path of Winter Storm Goliath. We went north to Kansas to cut across. Kansas US 96 West doesn't have a lot to choose from & we had been on the road for 12+ hours. So we stopped at the Derrick Inn. Walking into a sauna (due to the indoor pool & hot...

Owner (lady) is a woman of few words. No customer service skills whatsoever. I had called the Monday prior to our stay (Friday evening). Requested lower level room because of all of our luggage/gear. Owner said there weren't any rooms on the lower level available. When checking in I asked if a lower level room was available and was once...

Older motel and ok if just for an overnight stay. Light switch did not have a cover, the furniture was stained, tub was patched, no modern TV but doable, and only a bath towel for curtain. The king sized bed slept great. This is a pet friendly motel so maybe that was why we had that room. The advertised restaurant...

The Derrick Inn has tons of personality. (How carefully considered and cohesive that personality is is debatable.) Architecturally it is very peculiar if a little surreal: it looks like an outdoor courtyard style motel that has been roofed over. It has a swimming pool and a hot tub, and sitting areas furnished with second hand office furniture. And there is...
