The Lyons Inn is a quaint motel run by a friendly owner who lives on-site. It is a small-town place that really strives to please. Yes, you might have to wait for him to get back to the front desk if he has stepped away for a minute, but he won't be gone long. Our daughter attends Sterling College, so this is really close by (about 9 miles north of Sterling). You can find nicer hotels in Hutchinson (about 30 min south of Sterling), but you can't beat this one for convenience. They have a family suite with 3 queen beds which is really handy if you have several in your party. It is clean and beds are comfortable. Overall, I would recommend this hotel.
Reviews I read previously indicayed a nice place in a small town. Traveling with family and had 2 rooms but needed a third with room for 3. Booked a room with 2 double beds through travelocity but arrived to find out they dont have that type of room even though there is a picture of one. End result was we had to book two more rooms and they did give me a little discount. If my wife would have seen the spider I killed in the room we would have been gone. Place smells like smoke inside and don't count on the continental breakfast or coffee in lobby. Homeless gentleman in lobby about 7am and he said that he would have made coffee but no filters. Overall there is a better option in the town.
The rooms are dated, but clean. We were upstairs.(the workers area) lol. It's very quiet during the day. That's always nice whenever I work nights. It's not the Hilton, but it works. Probably stay some more.
had a great stay in a little town..... love the hometown atmosphere.....the front desk clerks were very helpful and the rooms were very clean....will def stay again when i am in area visiting family and will recommend to others. Thanks
We wanted to stay in a small town for the local flavor and was treated like the red headed stepchild. No one at the front desk. Had to ring a buzzer. Desk clerk came out yawning and made me feel like I was intruding. Room was clean with coffee maker and coffee. Next morning went out to breakfast area per the sign and there was nothing. No one at the desk either. Had to leave the keys on the counter. If all you want is a clean bed then your all set, otherwise keep driving!
We went up there for a funeral and were treated very kindly. It is a small, clean inn but very homey and the owner Jim is a very nice guy. Breakfast was bagel and pancakes but is was all clean and fresh.
Had a wedding in Lyons and stayed here and it was very nice. Waffles were great for breakfast.
Okay, it is in the middle of nowhere, but it has a very homey nice lobby with lovely plants and a breakfast. Rooms were clean and had a tv and a fridge. Request downstairs, I think they seemed nicer. More worker type men upstairs, I think. Next door is a great mexican restaurant and wendy's across the street.
Don't expect the Ritz in Lyons, this is farm country. The place did have some odor of cigarettes but not overpowering. We were here for a funeral so we needed a place nearby that could accommodate the large family and this did fine.
