My wife and I had a reservation here for June 17th. I called 3 times to verify they were open and was assured by staff there was no issue. When we arrived the sign stated the restaurant/bar was closed by the hotel was open the door was locked and no one was there to check us in. After making other... More

My husband and I arrived at the hotel at 4:15 and tried the doors and everything was locked up. We called a number that was on the door and left a message. We also called the number we had for the hotel and left a message. We waited for over a half hour and no one showed up or called... More

Four of us had high expectations a couple of weeks ago after the Trip Advisor ratings. We arrived on a Saturday evening and were checked in by a housekeeper who was frazzled and complaining of being ill. We had hoped to enjoy a relaxing evening in the restaurant and bar. We were informed that the restaurant wouldn't be open because... More

I wish I could unreservedly enthuse about the Hotel Capone, but their inattention to important details prevent me. First the good: The historic facade of the place in awesome, the Wi-fi is reliable, the beds are comfy, and the little town of Spillville is neat (check out the Bily Clock Museum!!). The Medium: The rooms are solid and clean, though... More

Without a doubt Hotel Capone is an excellent hotel with great vibes and an interesting history. The rooms were extremely classy, comfortable and quiet - definitely NOT your cookie cutter hotel. Free WiFi and cable. The hotel has a unique restaurant and bar in the basement. The salmon dip was to die for!! Hotel Capone offers a complimentary breakfast that... More

Went here as an alternative to a usual hotel chain for a business meeting, was pleasantly surprised at our unique 'digs" and enjoyed our visit immensely. Spillville, IA is a very small town, without other accommodations. Hotel Capone is a 7-room hotel, built from a historic building that used to be a storage location during Prohibition. The bar and restaurant... More

This is a very "cool" establishment. Nicely decorated, comfortable rooms. The underground speakeasy bar/ restaurant has a great cozy atmosphere. Owners are very friendly. You immediately see how much pride/ care they have taken to attend to the details in running this hotel. We love to take little road trips to see smaller towns, but prefer to stay at places... More

Nicely renovated historic building in a very quiet town. Each room is individually decorated, and all seven rooms are on the second floor. Our room (#1, Sweet Dreams) had a king bed, refrigerator, microwave, large bathroom and three large windows. It did not have a dresser or closet, but had hooks with nice hangers. The breakfast area is also on... More

We really enjoyed our 2 day stay at the Hotel Capone! Our room was clean and homey. The staff were so accommodating and friendly. The Restaurant and bar was wonderful and the continental breakfast was in a parlor upstairs where the hotel rooms were. Easy drive to Decorah. We will be back👍👍👍👍👍
