The creepiest place I have stayed. If I hadn't met friends, I would have been scared to be alone here. Toilet runs all night and is unbelievably loud. I ended up shutting the water off because it was so loud. Bathroom was large, but water was freezing. Beds were fine. Workers start at 7 and are very loud Tons of...

Friendly but primitive. No separate hot and cold water for the shower; so you're in luck only if you're showering just at the end of a sunny day. They keep rooms clean but they do get ants and other small bugs...like camping. Keep food out of your room. It's on a major road, so you'll hear the chicken bus go...

Nice place very close to nature. You have to be ready to very simple place, with no electricity at most of the time, no hot water (it is warm anyway). A walk till the Semuc Champey park. There is one more hostel which is closer to the park. But plus for this hostel is bit better price for cave tour...

There is no luxury, but also it adds some sort of charm to the experience. It is located next to the river which makes it very accesible to it. They are connected with a property where you can take a tour into the caves. I love the tour, it is a remarkable experience. Not recommended if the visitor is claustrophobic....

NOTE TO ALL: SEMUC CHEMPAY IS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE IN THE GUATEMALAN RAINFOREST...SO DON´T EXPECT TYPICAL AMMENITIES OF OTHER HOTELS Rooms are rustical, but clean. All cabins are set in lovely gardens. There are no hot showers (and water is at 18 degrees celsius give or take 2 degrees), to avoid high carbon footprints (Electricity is only possible...

We stayed one night in a little cabin. It was hot but private. The next few days we camped on their property right by the water and the rope swing. This was a highlight of our time spent in Guatemala because everyone walks by and you can get to know some of the local people.

We stayed one night in a cabin, with private bathroom in Dec 2015. The electric power is by generator, so they turn it off at night, around 9 pm. No frills. They have 'desayuno chapin' each morning (eggs, beans, plantains, coffee). this place is like camping cabins in the US. The place operates a tour inside a cave system with...

the hotel is simple, but their staff is very nice. There is a cave very mear, you can't miss it! And the swing to jump into the river is very funny. Be sure to walk to the end of the road that takes you to the cave so you can see a very nice lagoon outside another cave. There is...

I was visiting Semuc Champey and I was looking for another hotel but it was already full, so I decided to give a chance to "Las Marias" and it was definitely a good idea, I had a nice time here with my partner, the service is good, the rooms are not that bad (just don't expect a 5 star room),...

We spent our first night in semuc in el portal, but the next morning went walking down the road and asked in las Marias. We liked the place straight away, a lot friendlier than the other, and cheaper. The rooms are basic (as is everything around this area, which it makes it special)but clean. You can swim or relax across the...
