I stayed at the b&b recently for a crafting weekend. The room was comfortable and spacious. The food however is the biggest draw. Everything was homemade with care. They made me feel welcome. Be aware I drove by the first time as I did not see a sign. I should have just trusted my gps which was right. Haha!

We have been going to the Barn for almost 20 Years every Christmas. Our whole family is always there and takes almost every room, so we kind of take over the place. The owners are always so accommodating, friendly and treat us like family. We are able to have our family pets there each year and Geri's cooking is always...

This place is off the beaten path, but if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle this is the place for you. We stayed for my brother -in- laws wedding and we took up the whole place. The rooms are very nice and clean and each has its own bath and there is a nice patio outside...

Great food, beds and wonderful conversations!! Our grandchildren love to play with Elfie, their dog. We have had many quilt retreats, bringing family to fill the barn. They generously let us sew and spread out on both floors. Don has been known to spoil the granddaughters with his homemade hot chocolate topped with whipped cream! Look forward to staying there...

I called a week in advance to cancel and she told me she had already charged my card. I asked what card she used as I could not remember which one I had used when I made the reservation. She said she was traveling and would let me know when she got back. She didn't, so I called today and...

I'm sorry we had so many crossed wires, including a dropped phone call! We do have a two week cancellation policy. The deposit is typically nonrefundable when cancellations are received with less than two weeks notice. Your call to cancel caught us as we were on the interstate, headed for a big family trip to the Highway 127 yard sale...

For an authentic experience of rural Iowa, we highly recommend The Dairy Barn. The owners are very friendly, a goldmine of information about farming and life in the area, and happy to share their views on any subject. Since we had come from Holland to explore my great-grandparents' Iowa history, we couldn't have chosen a better or more interesting place...

I've attended a couple of scrapbooking retreats here and definitely want to go again! Someone mentioned the knickknacks and the animals and expressed concern. The dog is very friendly just likes to protect his territory by acting tough, but will turn and run if you advance on him before he's checked you out. Then after you have, if you pet...

Stayed for a scrapbook retreat. Host and hostess were a hoot and very gracious! BEST food! Fun to watch the animals, especially the birds. They were quite accommodating when I told them I prefer a room with a recliner to sleep in because of my back. Looking forward to staying again.

Interesting building - it used to be a dairy barn. I enjoyed that aspect of it. it is filled with "stuff", which is fun to look at, but, the place needs a really good cleaning. Cobwebs, dust, dead bugs abound. My room was clean, though. The patio outside needed to be cleaned up, as well. Weeds were everywhere, which detracted...

Dear Joy, Thanks for your review. I’m glad you enjoyed our home cooking, we take a lot of pride in it. I hope we can address some of the problems from your stay. Alfie, our pet dog, and our other farm animals have a ton of personality. Like everyone, they can have bad days. We are extremely sorry Alfie was...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
When Don & Gerrie Etter retired from dairy farming, they realized the cows had always had the best view in the county. They converted their old barn into a bed and breakfast, naming each of the eight guest rooms after their favorite dairy cows. Check in at the front desk in the old Milk Room, relax on the Cow Yard patio, eat a farm fresh meals prepared the way Grandma used make them, play with Alfie the farm dog or the outdoor barn cats, chase fireflies or enjoy a summer bonfire, and sleep in the old Hayloft. Each room at The Dairy Barn has it's own private bathroom and great country view. Two bedrooms are handicap accessible on the first floor where the baby calves used to sleep. All six of the Hayloft bedrooms have comfy pillowtop queen size beds. The rooms don't have televisions, but you are welcome to use the one in the common area if you have a hankering to watch Old Yeller. We still like to tinker about the farm. If you are lucky you can see Don riding around on one of his vintage Allis Chalmers tractors or help Gerrie and Alfie the farm dog gather eggs from the chicken coop. We welcome couples, families, old farmers, hunters, and small groups. With a huge farm yard and large common room on each floor, we're a great place to hold family reunions, country wedding receptions, and retreats. ... more   less
