This is a great small town experience. Some say heaven is a local call in Iowa, the town of Grinnell proves it. The Spaulding Guest house is open, friendly and restful. We found the hospitality offered by the owners to be very small town Iowa. They had coffee early morning followed by an organic breakfast on a very large porch....

We are New Yorkers, slightly out of place where services aren't a moment away. We came to Grinnell on business and ended up having the best vacation ever at The Spaulding Inn. With homemade bread for breakfast, the hosts, Valerie and her lovely family, always helpful with everything, beautiful rooms and a perfect location right on the lovely little main...

The Spaulding Inn B&B was my first time staying at a B&B and everything was perfect. Valerie was a great host and breakfast was delicious! It was walking distance to the college and downtown. Hope to stay there again!

We loved our stay at the Spaulding Inn in Grinnell. The house is a lovely turn-of-the-(20th)-century mansion that's in immaculate condition, and is very clean and cozy. Valerie cooks a great breakfast and is very informative about things to do in the area. We recommend this B&B to anyone visiting Grinnell. Such a nice alternative to the chain motels out...

The innkeeper accidentally overcharged me. I didn't realize it, and later that day, she emailed me to say she had overcharged me! I was really impressed by that. The breakfast was amazing. Homemade bread and the freshest fruit I've had out of home ever. Very comfortable mattress. Great place to stay near Grinnell College.

With just a single night to stay somewhere in Grinnell (passing through), I found that a B&B might be the best choice. Among the B&Bs, the best, at a fair price seemed to be Spaulding. I was in the smallest room, with a bath at the end of the hall, and no AC. I was fully informed about the arrangements,...

My stay at Spaulding House was incomparable to any I have experienced. Sure, you can say it is not a Five-Star Hotel in a major city....But That's My Point! If you search for "Real" experiences that characterize a time and place; then you will find the best of that at Spaulding House. It represents the best a small Midwestern town...

I was there to visit Grinnell College. The host offered me a lot of information about the school. The house was so exquisite. Everything was kept nice and tidy. I loved it. The proximity to the school and the neighborhood was great too.
