Richards house bed and breakfast is a diamond in the rough. Dave and Michele are renovating both inside and outside so as you approach the building it is work in progress as it is being renovated. You have to be careful walking up the steps into the building but as you open the majestic doors there is the breezeway area...

Working on the outside - great on the inside. The outside was worse than we expected and the inside was better than we expected. It is a lot of work to keep a house like this restored. Breakfast was also good.

Don't let the exterior restoration work fool you. Interior, accommodations and innkeepers are tremendous. Reasonably close to Galena and well located for travelers looking to explore northwest Illinois, southwest Wisconsin and eastern Iowa.

Our room was nice, our food was great. Inside, the house was nice; outside, it was a bit intimidating. But the best part of our stay, overall, were our hosts, Michelle and Dave. They would get six out of five stars in my book.

A friend and I were looking for something different, but also inexpensive. This places fit the bill. The exterior was nerve-wracking as it looked dilapidated. After a few minutes of wondering, "How bad can it really be?" we went in. The interior was as beautiful as the pictures. Hospitality was great. Bathroom was clean. We made a great memory and...

We had a lovely visit to the Richards House B&B. The owners are 100% accommodating for a roll-away, and breakfast was delicious: eggs with cheese, blueberry coffee cake, fresh fruit, crepes with maple syrup or home-made blueberry syrup, bacon and orange juice/coffee/water. They have wi-fi and cable t.v. although we barely needed it. We were too busy looking around at...

This bed and breakfast shows it's age and I always try to imagine how it must have looked new. I am amazed how beautiful the home is once you walk through the doors. We had a truly lovely time. The library suite was very cool and a fun treat to get to sleep in. The innkeepers are so nice and...

The exterior is in need of paint and repair. I am surprised that city codes allow the disrepair of the entrance. Upon first sight of the house, we considered leaving to find another place. We stayed in the library room on the main floor. It was clean--no dust noted on the many, many nooks and crannies where it could rest....

This Bed and Breakfast is one of the coolest places I have visited. It was built in the late 1800s and the furniture, books, decorations, etc are all from that time. The woodwork and tile work is all original. There are 10 bedroom and 8 fireplaces. The couple that owns it were fabulous. They shared so much history of the...

Family reunion in Dubuque with Richards House as gathering place. Wonderful breakfasts, able to add extra guests for breakfast easily. Accommodating hosts. Great afternoon coffee cakes. Played lots of board games between outings around the area. Looking forward to future visits.
