For a hotel with shared bathroom facilities, I wouldn’t say it’s value for money. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, great location for access to the train station and the staff are amazing.....but the smell of smoke from downstairs is strong, the music from the bar can be heard loud and clear, the shared bathroom facilities, no car parking, the accommodation access door that always seemed to be left open (which is a safety/security issue), and then the bikini girls walking around serving drinks.....it wasn’t what we expected for the price.

I stayed at the Granville with my young son as we were in Sydney for the week. It was very affordable accomodation overlooking the railway station. While we didnt't actually use the pub it wasn't at all noisy despite there being numerous sporting events on TV that week. Access to the rooms is via an external door and so if pub culture isn't your thing dont be put off. We were pleasantly suprise by the cleanliness of the rooms and the facilities on offer - the fridge was useful, along with the iron and ironing board. TV had everything you'd want and there was complimentary internet on offer. Our room was cleaned daily and restocked with all the things that you expect at much more expensive accomodation. The only slight drawback was the shared bathroom, however, we knew this before booking... Again these were modern and well maintained. There are plenty of eating options locally as well as the pub offering a simple pizza menu. I would have no hesitation of staying here again. Recommended...

Friendly staff and comfortable room for a reasonable rate. They get the important things right like a clean room and comfy bed. The toilets and showers are shared and it does get noisy with the pub downstairs.

Great location. Rooms clean and well appointed for pub accommodation. Shared toilet/bathroom, small but clean until slobs used them. Stayed mid-week. Noisy from pub downstairs. $75.00/night. Suitable for basic accommodation. No parking onsite.

I stayed over for 4 nights - March 2017. Rooms are basic but kept very clean. Bed linen immaculate. Shared facilities also exceptionally clean and well looked after. Washing machine and tumble drier a real advantage; given I'd been travelling around Western Australia (from the UK) for two weeks previous. Staff friendly; and some great guys in the downstairs bar to chat to. Well-stocked offering within the bar - tried various beers and all were very well-maintained. Also, the cheapest price for beer that I have paid anywhere in Australia. Room rates are exceptionally good value for money! Didn't find noise an issue whatsoever. I truly believe that some comments on here are a complete over-reaction. You are, afterall, booking a room above a pub that opens early, and closes late. What do some people expect - The London Savoy? Will be stopping here again next year when I visit friends in New South Wales. Won't hesitate to re-book or recommend to others. I adored the place - so much character compared to the sterile, boring rooms of the major hotel chains. Food easily purchased nearby from the high street over the railway bridge - kebabs to die for! Finally, ultimate respect and thanks to the room maids at The Granville. They clearly work so exceptionally hard keeping this superb hotel in top-notch levels of cleanliness. ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT HOTEL........ADORED IT!
