We loved staying at the Karoo Pandok, and actually stopped again on our way back home! The accomodation has an authentic uniquenes to the decor, is clean and simply furnished. We relaxed here and loved the bonus visit from the friendly neighborhood dogs! Louis is a great host and also organised us dinner hassle free from his Bar and Restaurant...

I found Bethulie by accident whilst looking for the halfway stop traveling to the Eastern Cape. What I found is true value for money and a peaceful environment, I will surely stay there again on my next trip to the Eastern Cape! I can imagine this will also suffice as a breakaway from the busy city life!!

Comfortable and private room with all the basic amenities required for an overnight stay. Lovely to wake-up to the fresh morning air of the Karoo, ready to embrace the rest of your travels. Breakfast at the affiliated restaurant, Die Ou Kar, in town is also a welcome sight!

Bethulie is one of those hidden towns, full of history, especially the Boer War. An excellent place to stay would be the Karoo Pandok to experience the hospitality of the townsfolk and learn of the origins of the town , and other significant historical events.

We had a very pleasant stay. We especially enjoyed the nice garden and farm-like environment. Very friendly host. Excellent braaiarea. The wash basin tap in the kitchen needs urgent repair. The breakfast in the Ou Kar restaurant was excellent.

Had a really great time at a nice small town next to an empty huge Gariep dam. Everything needed after a long drive... Clean rooms, aircon, nice small town atmosphere, homemade food, swimming pool to coll of in, and the inside scoop from the owners.

What a stunning little gem in the Free State - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Louise went to plenty of trouble to make us feel welcome. We loved the Farmers cottage and after supper we threw our blanket on the grass and looked up at the stars - really unforgettable and special! They own the local butchery as well...

“if you like to be treated and eat lovely food, you dont have to go for the selfcatering unit as the food is really lovely that is prepared for dinner and the homely feel that you get you want to social with everyone there. but I looked at all the rooms, they are all lovely so cant go wrong with any of them”
