Lovely place to stay. Incredibly comfortable bed, spotlessly clean room. The staff were friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The building has been beautifully and tastefully renovated. We were impressed that when there was a problem at breakfast time due to matters beyond the control of the hotel, there was a back up plan and everything possible was done to make sure we were not inconvenienced. We would definitely stay here again. .

Visited yesterday as a family of 4....arrived around 12pm so pretty quiet and only a handful of people sitting outside. We sat inside... Just offset to the bar... There were 3 or 4 staff milling behind the bar but noone acknowledged us (not a major issue) but we meandered through not really knowing where we should sit... Husband asked if we were OK to sit for food and then a young girl asked if we wanted to be inside or out and told us to sit where we liked and she'd bring menus over. Menus were delivered and after 10 mins or so I went back to the bar to you order.. Drinks were placed on bar (so not really sure if there is table service?!) so collected (again not a huge issue)... We then sat and waited about 40 mins for food (a sandwich.. Pizza, halloumi fries and kids sausages). My biggest issue as we sat there was the language coming from the kitchen... It was clearly jokey and good natured but there was a lot of 'banter' and more specifically swearing and we were sat with 2 kids under 9.... Its lovely that the kitchen is open and you can see staff at work but they really need to be aware that the whole restaurant can hear EVERYTHING! When the food did arrive it (on the whole) looked lovely... The pizza was great... Halloumi fries nice and well presented... The bread on the sandwich was a little dry (as if it had been left under a heat lamp temporarily and I wouldn't have eaten it but it was for a 6 year old and he just didn't care) but it arrived without the side advertised (crisps) and the sausage meal arrived as 2 huge sausages and a pile of lumpy mash (OK if you dont mind your mash lumpy) but without the peas it said it came with too... When I asked the server if there should have been peas and crisps she went back to the kitchen to check... She came back and asked would we like crisps or chips and the boy chose chips so she went back to order and I assumed fetch us cutlery as we had none and i heard this rattling whilst she was chatting to the kitchen... 3 or 4 minutes later we are still sat waiting for her to return with no means to eat so I went into the restaurant and asked her if I could take cutlery off the already set tables as we didn't have any! The chips and cutlery arrived a minute or so later (still no peas) and by this time I'd given up. Final gripe on paying the bill was paying £3.00 for half a diet coke?! Husband paid bill and handed me the receipt as we left (which is why I didn't flag it at the time). The food was nice.... The service needs improving and the kitchen need to be aware that there's a time and a place for joking around and that customers can hear everything that's going on... I'm sure its all a one off... We've been here before and never had an issue but I'm not sure we would return based on this experience :(

Darren and the staff are so very friendly and helpful. Darren went out of his way to ensure I was looked after and helped me book an appropriate room (quiet) and provided me with a late breakfast after my swim at the nearby Droitwich Spa Lido. Great bar, a lovely Pinot Grigio. The fish and chips in their restaurant are exceptional.

I had a very pleasant stay here. I do enjoy getting away from the formulaic chain hotels, and this is one of the lovely old buildings that can be found. Clean, comfortable with a nice restaurant made for an enjoyable one night stay. I would definitely consider staying here agin if I find myself in this area again.

The hotel looks very nice inside with a nice bar area. We were told on arrival (saturday) that the kitchen was due to be refurbished on monday and therefore there would only be cereal available for breakfast. The bill was reduced by £10. We asked if we needed to book a table for an evening meal and we were told that they were expecting to larger parties but would be able to squeeze us in. We returned in the evening after a day out to be told that there was no food availoable due to the two groups. So the following day we were out and about and rang the hotel to book a table only to be told again that there was no food available. On the Monday morning we went down for our 'cereal' breakfast to find the place deserted. Nothing laid out at all and lights off. The fact that the bill was reduced a little is ok, but the room was booked several months previously and no one bothered to inform us that there would not be any food available during our stay, bearing in mind that there was nowhere else to go within walking distance. The one breakfast we did get on Sunday was very nice. The room we had was pleasant enough although at around 6.15am what I assume was the kitchen extractor fan was switched on which was loud enough to keep us awake. I guess it was a blessing that the kitchen was out of action on monday morning because the fan didn't come on, instead we were woken at about the same time by a burglar alarm. All in all not a pleasant stay.

The staff at The Vernon were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The food was amazing, especially the scallops, and again the staff were very obliging and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable, with tea, coffee and biscuits on arrival. I would highly recommend the Vernon to anyone who wanted to stay at a friendly accommodation in that area. Thanks to the staff for making our stay so amazing.

Warm welcome, nice room, although too hot and very noisy as above kitchen extractor units. Only 1 veggie option butternut squash risotto and quite expensive. Couldn't even have chips as same fryer is used for meat?! Really need to sort out a menu catering for non meat eaters as the pub itself is lovely and bar staff great.
