We, as locals, had heard very good things about the newish brasserie, formally know n as Dandelion. We have been going to this converted chapel since the sixties and seen it through its various reincarnations. This must be the poorest. We had breakfast at around ten. The place was cold and filled with 'industrial sized shabby chic' such as a... More

This was our second visit. Stopped here for a drink early evening. The owners have done a fine job on the place and the brasserie area looks great (we didn't go into the restaurant). Lots of quirky furniture. The Jail Ale was delicious, and the staff we saw were very welcoming. The food looked fantastic although we weren't there to... More

We stayed here as part of an organised walking holiday by H. F. holidays. H.F. had owned the hotel but have now sold it on. The hotel honoured any bookings but put their own twist on things, so we did not get the H.F. treatment and were therefore "short changed". H.F. are still taking bookings for next year in their... The walking from, and location of this hotel are fantastic. However it has much to improve in terms of customer service to provide guests with a good experience. Surly argumentative staff do not make for a good holiday. The hotel owner has an appetite to improve things and assures me he will address the problems. Let's hope he can do... More

The Moorlands is being totally renovated. The new restaurant is friendly with locally sourced sustainable meat. Great for those who care where their food comes from. The restaurant is well-behaved dog friendly and ideal for walkers from the Moor. The management are trying hard to provide a great service to those visiting the area, but also locals.

Lunch in the new Brasserie. Staff very helpful ,but still inexperienced. Seemed a bit loathed to want to show you a menu.! Choice of food was good, service was quick, but all looked very bland on the plate, just no presentation. Will be interesting to see how this business develops and grows.

Visited this week after hearing lots of postive comments from local friends. Staff were polite and friendly. Daughter was bemused by childrens menu-due to lots of wording that she felt was tricky for younger children (she's 11) We weren't given a menu so husband had to go and ask for one. We weren't told that the menu (which said it... More

This is a very nice looking building, with a unique history which is easy to explore when visiting. The hotel has recently changed hands and is going through something of a transformation. We visited the hotel for some lunch following a very pleasant walk on the moor. The location of this hotel is great. From the outside the building looks... More

My husband and I visited this restaurant on a Sunday recently to discover that it had changed hands - for the better. It was very quiet but it will obviously take time to build up a new clientele. Very nice lunch, well presented and at a reasonable price. The people who served us were very pleasant and chatty. One constructive... More
