My wife and I needed somewhere to stay for one night after attending a concert in Dumfries. When we arrived at Woodland House we enjoyed it's lovely well kept grounds although the half constructed / abandoned extension next to the main building might be off putting to some. After checking in we were shown to our room which was very...

First, lets get the bad thing out of the way:- the 'Meccano set' unfinished building structure adjacent to the hotel is unsightly and if it can't be demolished it should at least be screened off. Now the good things: Everything else! The hotel is about 3 miles to the north-west of Dumfries, just off a quiet road. The grounds are...

Have stayed here a number of times when on business in Dumfries. The building itself and the surrounding areas are beautiful. The extension is a bit of an eyesore, and doesn't seem to have made any progress in the year I've stayed there, but the staff are very friendly and the bathrooms in the hotel are extremely nice compared to...

As per previous reviews the approach to the hotel up the drive is picturesque but somewhat marred by the unfinished extension. This appears to be untouched for quite some time. On check in the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room I had was light, airy, clean, very spacious and well appointed. No problems there. I ate in the...

We chose this hotel a midpoint meeting place for 12 family members coming from the north and south. It is in a beautiful setting (although could benefit from a clearer sign as to its location, as several of us were driving round trying to find it, despite having satnav). Despite the fact that there was a wedding reception taking place,...

We stayed here for one night halfway through our journey from the Cairngorms to Staffordshire. Looked great on the website and was even better in the flesh. Welcomed by a log fire and a friendly gent (Alex) that showed us to our room. Room (suite) was immaculate. Recently fitted out with high quality fittings and furniture. Evening meal was great....

Just returned from a 3-night break over the New Year period. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the service we received was outstanding. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable and the bathrooms wouldn't look out of place in a 5+* hotel. The food was very good and served with a friendly smile, breakfasts were delicious with lots...
