Budget and timing landed me at the Extended Stsy Skokie. LaLa weekend in Chicago eliminated my usual choices. This property which advertises rooms under $100.00 clipped me for $234.00 for the night. Walking up to the lobby at 12:30 a.m., after a long day moving a family member, I navigated past a collection of individuals who made me think I was in the bar scene in Star Wars. Charming! 😯 I was greeted at the front desk by a unique woman sporting a sequined hair pin reading “SEXY.” She struggled with the electronic merchant processing machines until she could no longer keep an F-bomb from escaping her lips. A call to her supervisor and some machine roulette eventually allowed her to capture my $234.00 payment in advance for my room. A deluxe suite she promised. Hmmm! Thanks Sexy! Or maybe not. Opening the door to my room the delightful scent of stale cigarette smoke filled my nostrils. Entering the bathroom I was confronted with a counter bearing permanent brown stains of unknown origin, cracked electrical outlet cover plates, a mirror that looked like Jaws but off the corner of it, and shower curtain rod anchors that looked like they were hanging on for dear life. Although wearing the dirty clothes I had been working in all day, I elected to sleep in them lest the bedding be inhabited by other ‘guests’ namely of the insect variety or god knows what else. 🤢 Slept for six hours, showered, changed and fled. My final images of the stay, a half empty wine bottle and a dried gob of spit on the asphalt near my car.👍 The only thing worse than my one night stay would have been an ‘extended stay.’ If you like adventure or survival shows consider this property for your next stay.…
My daughter had a 3-night reservation, but had to check out after 1 night because this was during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this hotel was not observing mask-wearing, including the hotel staff. She did not feel safe in the hotel.
I've been staying here for a while. The people working here are nice, and I've been happy with the room and service. Then it all changed 5 days ago. My room has been filled with cigarette smoke day and night for the last 5 days with no end in sight. Maybe now that's it cold, people smoke in the room. I've complained at the front desk several times, but they did nothing. It's making me really sick and uncomfortable. And this hotel advertises itself as 100% smoke free. Other guests have told me they notice the smoke even in the halls. I'm smoked out!
Nice to have a larger hotel room than most and a kitchenette. But disappointed that it did not include even a coffee maker (which is standard in most hotel rooms). There were no cups or mugs or dishes or pans - the cabinets were empty. The front desk loaned us a saucepan to boil water for tea. The kitchenette included refrigerator, microwave, 2-burner stove and sink. Room included 1 queen bed with 3 pillows, credenza/dresser with tv and remote, small table with desk chair on wheels, leather-type side chair, desk and chair on wheels (seat dropped to the floor when sat on), closet with iron and ironing board. Bathroom included hairdryer and soap and shampoo. Plenty of outlets available. Lighting in each area/corner - except the wall lamps did not work (possibly needed new bulbs). …
I was with a party of 20 & we found ourselves stranded needing a Hotel for 2 weeks & Jamie rescued us. She was totally ready when we all arrived, pretty much together. She already had our rooms assigned so check in was fast & carefree. The room was clean & very quiet once inside. The kitchen was nice with a full refrigerator & they supply pots & pans & dishes. I actually cooked more than one dinner. It was nice to eat home cooked meals on the road. The folks at the front desk are so friendly & helpful. Especially Jasmine, she was so helpful. Josh was also nice to wake up in the morning. I would definitely stay here again.
We were looking for a no-frills hotel for two nights near Evanston. The smell coming out of the fan in the bathroom, which came on automatically with the light, was so strong, it was like there was someone smoking a cigarette in the room with you. The stench was so overwhelming, even with the bathroom door closed, that it permeated the whole room making it almost impossible to sleep. I will never stay here again! I wish I would have paid a little more to stay anywhere else!
We just got back into our room and found a notice under the door. Due to maintenance, water will be shut off tomorrow, 11 am for 3-5 hours. Terrible. And they charge us for this? They should comp the day.
The staff was very accommodating, especially Azaria and Jasmine. They got me an early check-in at the last minute. They were very kind and helpful. The room was spacious and very clean. I would definitely stay here again!
I booked this hotel a month ago to be near the hospital my dad was having extensive surgery in. I live 5 hours away. After an 8+ hour surgery and 14 hours at the hospital I went to check in. I had called to let the hotel know I would be late. When I arrived, they could see my reservation in their system, but they had overbooked the hotel and had no rooms available. They weren't even apologetic about it and made no offer to help. They couldn't even ensure I wouldn't be charged because I had booked through Expedia and had to call them. Thank God there is a Hampton right next door that had rooms available. Otherwise I would have been sleeping in my car. Absolutely horrible experience!!
Please see my review of the Residence Inn across the street from this property. Long story short, this hotel in no way compares to a Residence Inn property at which I was booked in the first place, and it was so filthy that I was absolutely unwilling to consider staying the night in this room once I saw the stains on the chair in the room. On a positive note, the front desk staff was very nice and apologetic when I showed them the photo of the stains on the desk chair. However, after seeing that, there was nothing they could have done to make me willing to stay the night at their property. Some things you just cannot unsee.
