Detailed Reviews
I've been staying here for a while. The people working here are nice, and I've been happy with the room and service. Then it all changed 5 days ago. My room has been filled with cigarette smoke day and night for the last 5 days with no end in sight. Maybe now that's it cold, people smoke in the room. I've complained at the front desk several times, but they did nothing. It's making me really sick and uncomfortable. And this hotel advertises itself as 100% smoke free. Other guests have told me they notice the smoke even in the halls. I'm smoked out!

I did not have a good stay here. There is a sign that states I can ask for dishes for the kitchen. I called to ask for a cup and I received a mug. I told the attendant that was fine as I was really thirsty and I didn't want to wait any longer. The room was very dark and dingy. Also, I asked for late check out and it seemed to be a huge inconvenience to receive an extra hour for check out. The housekeeper knocked on my door the minute I was grabbing my bag to walk out as they were confirming that they wanted me out right away. The hotel wasn't even at capacity so I'm not sure why they hassled me so much about late check out. Lastly, the TV went in and out so I couldn't even properly watch TV. I cannot recommend this hotel.

Wholistic Review:
Lobby:
Front desk- people were friendly, yet helpless, they are only there to check you in and only in the normal way.
Foyer- Newly renovated (2014), warm and inviting
Room:
Kitchen- nice little kitchenette, does lack some basics in the housewares department (utensils if you plan to cook)
Bathroom- clean, renovated, functional, no complaints (towards sink is hot)
Bed- clean, comfortable, tons of pillows, no complaints
Electrical- they know how to do outlets! Bedside outlets up by headboard and down by floor, perfect for laptops and cell phones
Wifi- very poor connection, unable to connect in room
Checkout:
Breakfast- truly grab-and-go, granola, muffin, fruit, coffee
Comfortable, and decent, not extraordinary or awful.

I was with a party of 20 & we found ourselves stranded needing a Hotel for 2 weeks & Jamie rescued us. She was totally ready when we all arrived, pretty much together. She already had our rooms assigned so check in was fast & carefree. The room was clean & very quiet once inside. The kitchen was nice with a full refrigerator & they supply pots & pans & dishes. I actually cooked more than one dinner. It was nice to eat home cooked meals on the road. The folks at the front desk are so friendly & helpful. Especially Jasmine, she was so helpful. Josh was also nice to wake up in the morning. I would definitely stay here again.

Budget and timing landed me at the Extended Stsy Skokie. LaLa weekend in Chicago eliminated my usual choices. This property which advertises rooms under $100.00 clipped me for $234.00 for the night.
Walking up to the lobby at 12:30 a.m., after a long day moving a family member, I navigated past a collection of individuals who made me think I was in the bar scene in Star Wars. Charming! 😯
I was greeted at the front desk by a unique woman sporting a sequined hair pin reading “SEXY.” She struggled with the electronic merchant processing machines until she could no longer keep an F-bomb from escaping her lips. A call to her supervisor and some machine roulette eventually allowed her to capture my $234.00 payment in advance for my room.
A deluxe suite she promised. Hmmm! Thanks Sexy!
Or maybe not.
Opening the door to my room the delightful scent of stale cigarette smoke filled my nostrils. Entering the bathroom I was confronted with a counter bearing permanent brown stains of unknown origin,
cracked electrical outlet cover plates, a mirror that
looked like Jaws but off the corner of it, and shower curtain rod anchors that looked like they were hanging on for dear life.
Although wearing the dirty clothes I had been working in all day, I elected to sleep in them lest the bedding be inhabited by other ‘guests’ namely of the insect variety or god knows what else. 🤢
Slept for six hours, showered, changed and fled.
My final images of the stay, a half empty wine bottle and a dried gob of spit on the asphalt near my car.👍
The only thing worse than my one night stay would have been an ‘extended stay.’ If you like adventure or survival shows consider this property for your next stay.

***BEWARE*** Please read all reviews regarding this particular Extended Stay in Skokie. Although, it is conveniently located off the expressway and shopping malls.....is my only plus about this place. My last stay here was not safe nor secured. There were a few times where I had someone **knock** on my door and used a master keycard to enter my room while present. I have made several complaints to which staff had no sense of urgency to act. The staff's response was just a mere, "oh, maybe it was just the wrong room." Who would knock first, if it was the wrong room plus they did not knock and say, "Hi, this is staff." In short, Extended Stay America in Skokie has staff or someone they know entering the guests rooms whether present or gone for the day. Do not leave anything important behind or of value if staying there long term. This hotel is NOT to be trusted. The staff should all be under investigation and fired. I will also make it my business to blast this on all platforms of social media for traction.

GROSS!! Most disgusting place I have ever stayed at! Floors were so sticky had to have shoes on at all times! Moved the dresser to find that they had not moved it in probably a year! Burn marks on bathroom counter, no hangers for closet, no kitchen stuff provided unless you asked and then they gave me plastic cups for hot tea! Silly string on the walls, dirty windows with no screens, no locks for door, WiFi sucked, no coffee or food most days, no cream, no oatmeal as advertised!! The pictures are fake online! Do not stay!!! Disgusting!!

Gross hotel. Room was dirty, their was NO ice anywhere. No shampoo no blow dryer. Free breakfast was a JOKE. packaged muffins behind the counter. Waited 15 minutes for someone to come to front desk. People staying there were half dressed and scary looking. The brightest part of the stay were meeting refugees from Columbia. They were clean friendly and polite. We conversed using google translate and they were amazing in terms of bravery and distance travelled. Would recommend staying somewhere else.

We stayed at extended stay for the night of July 20 - 21. When we checked in to our room we found blood on the sheets. (In fact we took pictures of the sheets). When we complained the front desk said they would have the cleaning sheets. We come back later in the night only to find that our sheets were not changed. When we complained again, the front desk said the cleaning ladies have already left and there was nothing that could be done. The only alternative that seemed to exist was to take the new sheets and change them myself. We had a 6 month old baby with us, and we could not find a new hotel anywhere close by at that time of the night. Without any options we took the sheets and changed it ourself!

What the heck happened to extended stay? I have been staying at them for years, but just checked in for a three day stay after going to the supermarket to get my foodstuffs, only to discover there was not so much as a paper cup to drink water from..no plates , coffeemaker, utensils ,,absolutely nothing. After calling the front desk, I was told the new management policy was that you have to ask for what you need...the front desk clerk appeared some time e later with a heavy plastic tub containing the items we asked for...some policy...for the amount of money we're paying , wouldn't you think the hotel should provide the basics you would expect in a "kitchenette"...oh and how about a couple of paper cups to drink a glass of water? I don't think we'll be staying here again...
