I stayed at Best Western St. Charles twice in the past six weeks, each time for several days. Inflation has surely hit the local hospitality market, making this establishment one of the few lower-priced options. Overall, I was pleased with my accommodations. The rooms were clean (with a few exceptions), and fully functional, the free breakfast was appreciated, and there were no significant service lapses except one. Despite proudly advertising free high speed Internet, this hotel's Wi-Fi was extremely spotty during my first stay, and non-existent during the entirety of my second (4 nights). Management is well aware of this ongoing problem, yet apparently unmotivated to correct the issues OR remove the claim from their advertising. I gave 4 stars to indicate a grade of B. Photos document the downsides. …
Well-positioned on E. Main, easy in/out access, conveniently located next to Colonial Café family dining restaurant, very good rates for the level of accommodations, and staff focused on guest needs even while contending with state-mandated COVID-19 restrictions.
Older property that is well maintained with great amenities and courteous staff. I stay here a lot and have never been disappointed. Good value for the price. I am a BW rewards member and encourage same.
The whole motel smells like cigarettes. Should be better information regarding this issue. Should be clear in labeling that it’s an all SMOKING motel. Will do better research on our behalf next time..
i asked for non-smoking. they guy said they all are. it is not! the room REEKS of cigarettes i got home and my clothes still smelled like one! i had meetings to go to and had to shower in perfume to get the smell off... the towels stinks as well. they smell like they were washed in a washer with mold or dirty water or little soap... carpets are so dirty you cant see the print... i kept waking up because my nose is clogged when i slept there but was ok before i got there and when i left.. lastly, the room looks worn out. wall trim falling off the bottom, old paint that they try to conceal with poor lighting.. got knows when the sheets are replaced...
Room stunk. No elevator. Staff at front desk not friendly. Lots of mold on bathroom door. Bad water pressure (except for toilet, it sounded like it could suck you down the pipe.) Broken hairdryer. Beds were ok for comfort (but we were exhausted). Below what I usual expect from BW. Disappointed.
Upon entering the room, right away the odor hit me in the face. Beds were uncomfortable and couldn't get any rest because kids were running up and down the stairs, very noisy. The bathroom shower was leaking. The bed linens were stained and wrinkled.
Room was clean, it was a smaller room for a king but not uncomfortably tiny, typical hotel breakfast but not bad, checkin process was easy, and no complaints. Would stay here again if in the area as rate was very fair for the area and room. Good deal.
Check-in clerk absolutely not friendly at all. Room was acceptable, bathroom door so warped it could not be closed, much less locked. Large sign at check-in desk states "free HOT breakfast", all equipment in place, but given "grab and go" instead. When Clark was questioned about it, he stated that it mentions that on the website. I asked why they still had a large sign advertising a hot breakfast when their clearly was done, he said "the sign is there we can't take it down." All in all a mediocre experience, would not recommend based on surly employees and false advertising.
Always friendly and the rooms are clean. They cannot do the breakfast because of covid, but give out a bagged breakfast. I like the location as it is only 1 1/2 miles from the Arcada Theater, which is why I come to St. Charles.
