I book at Holiday Inn Express often. I see it as a safe bet as far as being comfortable and clean plus budget friendly. This hotel was definitely budget friendly with a nice staff. The hotel itself was quiet with a comfortable bed. The decor is outdated, bathrooms are small, furniture needs upgraded. I had a suite, which was nice, but my living area had no air vent which made it very muggy and hot. We stayed for three nights and they refused to clean our room until checkout. We ran out of toilet paper, trash can liners and towels. Breakfast was so so, they seemed understaffed so we waited for coffee and food every morning. The area felt safe but was an hour drive from downtown Chicago. I doubt I would ever stay at this particular Holiday Inn.
I've stayed at this hotel every year for the last 10 years on my annual trip through the area for business. The hotel is clean and well maintained. Reasonably priced. You will always be greeted with a smile by the hotel staff. Front desk always helpful! And, the General Manager Cathy Buchanan is the BEST!!!
Pros: Spacious and comfortable one-bedroom suite, quiet and convenient location, friendly staff, pleasant decor. Cons: No nearby grocery store. It's not something I say very often, but this hotel is nearly flawless. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. My one-bedroom suite was just spacious enough to feel like a small apartment with separate living and sleeping areas. My stay was four nights and I could have easily been comfortable spending another four, and another four on top of that... you get the idea. The hotel itself is quaint and warm- it doesn't have the most recent Holiday inn Express decor (which is nice) but the fireplace in the lobby and the dark wood throughout gave the property a slightly rustic look. It was a nice home-away-from-home to return to every evening. The staff was friendly and made sure to repair the toilet in the bathroom that continually ran the first night of my stay- after one day it was no longer an issue and I didn't experience any other problems throughout my stay. Speaking of bathrooms, the water pressure in the shower was exceptional. Conveniently located between trendy Wheeling, IL and I-94, the hotel's setting was quiet and I never had to travel very far to get on the way to where I was headed. My only complaint is no grocery store being in the immediate area- I feel as though I had to travel ten minutes whenever I needed something. Still, a small price to pay for such an exceptional hotel experience.…
So the flight was delayed (for hours)! Desperately needed a few hours of sleep and this location was perfect. Close enough to the airport that you don't spend a lot of time on the highway and far enough away to get out of the fray. Nice big bed and great pillows. Easy in and out. Loved it!
This location is in an upscale residential area and feels very safe. The room is very comfortable and has a separate king bedroom and living area. There is a very nice indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi and a breakfast buffet with a nice assortment of hot and cold foods. There is a kitchenette and a tv in the bedroom and another in the living area which also has a desk. The bathroom is nice sized and does not feel cramped. We will definitely choose this hotel for future trips to the Chicago area.
A sharp contrast to the previous few HI and HI Express to other locations this visit provided me with perfection. All the room items worked... TV, micro and even the coffee maker. I may just move in. They get my business now.
My stay was for business (4 nights) and I had an enjoyable stay. The breakfast availability was unpredictable, but understandable due to Covid. Sometimes was a little tricky making the left-hand turn out onto Lake Cook Rd, but otherwise a great location.
I stayed at this hotel for a business trip. For that purpose, this is a great choice. The rooms are suite style, with a sitting area and separate bedroom area. Room was clean, but, in the room I stayed the bed was clearly old and very uncomfortable. If not for that the room would receive a better rating. I will say that the staff are five stars. Checkin was quick and easy and everyone I saw was smiling and friendly. There is nice lobby area with the usual hotel breakfast, but no evening service. Overall, not a bad option and I would stay here again.
I booked a room for New Years Eve on 12/31/2019. I need a double bed and Customer Service had no problem getting me that room. Once we arrived, Bars at the front desk greeted us like family. During the course of the night we asked for a few favors and he was very accommodating. Also, we got a late checkout for 1pm the next day. I will definitely stay here again, just to see Bars. The room was very clean and the pool was open until midnight, which was a big plus. The breakfast buffet was free and had a variety of items. Also, the food was very good! Overall, this is one of the best hotels we have stayed at with exceptional Customer Service Thank you again to Bars for making are stay AWESOME!!
I can give only high marks to our executive suite, location, and breakfast. Cinnamon rolls as good as homemade. Quite and friendly. Very comfortable bed. Convenient to retail and the interstate. Only one complaint: the surly breakfast server. 😔
