We had the unfortunate privilege to stay at Barra Lodge during July 2014. The accommodation is totally overpriced and compares to accommodation that can be found for much cheaper around Inhambane and Tofo. It is clear that this establishment had seen better days and the management is not involved in the day to day running of the resort. Throughout our...

We stayed in the cabanas. The special offer they're having at the moment offers very good value for money. The cabanas are beautifully located, well equipped and very spacious. The pool was dirty when we arrived but they came and cleaned it when we requested but it still stayed green. Cabanas wifi wasn't working but resort wifi was. The resort...

After a week in Tofo with very little access to fancy amenities , Barra lodge was definitely a step up. Quite a large establishment with an in house shop and an ATM, something very scarce in Tofo. Good value self catering chalets and close to the beach. A good spot to scuba dive from and Barra has a good dive...

Hi Andrew. So pleased you enjoyed your stay with us at Barra. Thank you for the review

We never actually stayed at Barra Lodge but used the dive centre numerous times throughout our stay in Mozambique. It continually frustrates us that typically where the best diving is, the food and service is very poor. The dive centre was very good with all required facilities. We take our own kit but the rental kit looked to be in...

I stayed as part of a group in one of the self-catering cottages. The bathroom shower was a bit grungy, but otherwise, the cottage and property as a whole were immaculate. The staff spoke excellent English and were very accommodating. They even opened the restaurant 1 1/2 hours early to feed a very hungry traveler a specially-prepared vegan dinner. The...

I stayed here in October 2013 for two weeks. We paid ZAR 3,000 a night, and expected much more. The staff were brilliant and friendly, but I speak Portuguese (natively) which may have helped. The pool was dirty, but that didn't matter because the sea and beach were beautiful. Our bed sheets were changed only after asking, some five days...

We've being going to Barra with the family since 2009 from our home in Harare (1,100km of excellent roads - only the last 7km are dirt) with one outing to Pomene Lodge. We rent one of the simple but well-equipped self-catering cottages that sleep six. A forest of coconut palms stands right outside your terrace, from which you can gaze...

The very quiet beach of this property (along with the dive shop) make it a place I would consider visiting again. The rooms were in desperate need of an update and the first night we arrived, a wedding reception took place with incredibly loud music, until 5 am. The manager of the hotel gave us a credit to make up...

We didn't expect much from this pace having read the reviews, but what we discovered was a hidden gem! Absolutely loved it - rooms were huge and very well equipped. Staff were friendly enough, setting is amazing, diving was good - what more could you ask for? Absolutely loved it and would return.

This is our second time staying at Barra Lodge, our focus being the diving in Inhambane. With a beautiful beach and excellent diving facilities and beautiful dive sites, and various room options, this is a great place for divers, families, friends and couples. They have luxury accommodations called Flamingo Bay nearby as well. The resort wasn't too crowded in early...
