The place was developed based on a terrific concept of its original owner of total self sufficiency. Ideally, you could witness the entire food production and employment on a sustainable organic basis and yet be in a secluded environment, far from the madding crowd. But the current operator has all but decimated everything. All that remains are the ramshackle ruins of the erstwhile infrastructure and facilities along with a dozen poorly maintained cottages.
to spend some time in nature, Babli is the best option.we took a mud hut to stay there.room was clean with all the facilities. they don't have air condition but the room was good enough to stay. loved the two storied mud houses of them. the food was very tasty
Bolpur, as always, was charming. Babli, the nature retreat near Daronda village was equally so. Let the forest grow - as they say their motto to be, the place exudes a natural charm that no human hand can ensure. Manicured lawns and gardens are one thing but letting the wild nature rule your land is something very different. Thanks to Aditya, the man behind the whole establishment, Babli is infused with a life of its own. Blending in the natural and the local with an organic attempt to exist with nature, this place has a strong restorative power. Last week of January was our second trip to Babli and it was as special as the first. My 9year old just didn't want to leave the place where he could cuddle puppies, run after sheep and goats, find hens and roosters lurking around…
Whenever I visit Bolpur/Shantiniketan, I prefer staying here. And I love to stay in Matir Bari. Rooms are basic but would serve all basic requirements of an urban visitor. Beds and towels and everything else is really clean. It’s a serene place. If you want to let your hair down and forget about everything else - this is your place to stay. No noises, no hustle bustle. Complete peace exists here. And now, the food. It’s awesome. The authentic Birbhum cuisine is a must try. No matter how much I write about the food, it would never be sufficient. One will have to taste it, experience it and only then one would understand.
We went on a family vacation and took a Mud Hat and a double bed room.. The rooms were clean with all facilities. Car parking was ample. Sahadebda as the Canteen manager awesome with his speacilities from the kitche.
We needed a short break away from the hustle and bustle of Kolkata. Babli was the most peaceful choice. It was an easy trip to Bolpur and within half an hour, we were in a different calm and simpler world. EVERY staff member was fantastic.
Good and relaxing environment, far from the hustle of city life. huts are good and made of Bengoli style. Choose rooms depending on group visit or couple visit. The owner and care taker of the guest house is very polite and helpful person and having good knowledge about snakes and sculptures. For food either dinner lunch or breakfast, inform them in advance and they'll prepare authentic Bengoli food. Don't expect it to be par with high end restro offering Bengoli food, but it is as par as food being cooked in the villages with similar taste which i liked. The place is nearby Shanti nIketan and cab can hired to visit the same.
If you are a nature lover and want to spend some time away from the hustle bustle of the city Babli is the perfect place for you. Great food, peaceful stay, basic accommodation so don't expect luxurious stay. A place I want to go back always!!
We were a group of 7 friends who wanted to spend 2 nights away from kolkata at a place within few hrs drive from here. Finally we selected BABLI and here's my views: Pros ------ We opted for the mud houses which can accommodate 4 people. It has a duplex where one needs to climb up for his/her own place 'among the cloud' ;) The room decor is ethnic and we loved the way it was decorated Bathrooms were clean and hot water is provided on request Sahadev and Pradeep are the chef who will do all that they can to satisfy your hunger pangs. We also loved the short conversation that we had with Aaditto da during the checkout process. Cons ------ Don't come to Babli if you are a 'Party Animal' or can't stay without the evening news on the TV. Verdict ---------- Come here to enjoy…
We have stayed with B.A.B.L.I. and her wilderness many times, discovering new sights, sounds and smells with every visit. The rooms with their tenderness of design, Sahadev-da's dining room antics filled with love and a wee bit of madness....keep us fresh and alive in every visit; we start making plans for the next trip even while we are there.
