We were staying in Williton and fancied a Sunday roast. Saw a sign for this pub on the main road and headed into the village. Even though the pub was full, as they'd had a Remembrance Day service in the church opposite, they found us a table in the bar area, where there was a lovely roaring fire. The Landlord,...

Was attending a training course at friendberry training centre 2 miles from village. Booked in to th White Horse for 2 nights B&B. Rooms are large and clean. Perfect for a place to stay. Breakfast was plenty and freshly cooked Could get a nice meal in the bar in the evening, plenty of choice on the menu and reasonable priced...

We were staying in the local guest house and being a small village we had a choice of one place to eat, or a drive out to find somewhere else. The good thing, this is the best place to eat in Stogumber, but then there's no competition, so really that doesn't say that much for it. We ordered starters, Thai...

We were visiting the village for the festival so were expecting the pub to be very busy with locals and festival goers, we were amazed to find 6 locals 4 visitors and 2 more turned up after a concert in the church ended. We intended to eat there but looking at the on line FSA hygiene rating that has been...

Stayed with Doug and Shirley Forsyth who had recently moved to Stogumber. What a splendid local which was exactly as a village pub should be. Friendly welcoming cosy and nicely busy. We'll definitely be there again. Sited in the heart of this beautiful Somerset village, opposite the church.

The menu was quite serviceable and included a delicious chicken curry. A couple of our picky American fellow travelers grew tired of the limited fare available, but I could have eaten here every night of our 4-night stay in Stogumber and enjoyed every meal. Ken, the proprietor is a generous, friendly, country gentleman, and we enjoyed getting to know him.

Visited the village of Stogumber on Saturday 07 May so decided to lunch at The White Horse. As I recall there were 9 customers in the bar. We ordered drinks and began to study the Menu, at which time the lady serving us made us feel unwelcome, as if we were intruders; told us she was on her own and...

Return visit for supper. Excellent choice of usual pub dishes, with Lamb Shank chosen from specials board. Good range of cask beers, great or discover a choice of brews under 4% abv. Chose Otter Bitter which was as usual very drinkable. Food arrived and was delicious, and very reasonably priced. An excellent evening in interesting friendly company. Will definitely be...

This is just the sort of place you want a pub to be. The staff are great -cheerful, friendly and providing efficient service. The food is good pub grub with plenty of choice, even for vegetarians! The decor is interesting decor, there's a roaring fire - what more could one ask for in a pub?

Having spent four great nights at this inn two years ago, it was the obvious choice for an overnight stop en route to Cornwall for a weeks holiday with our little yorkie. The welcome, accommodation, dinner and breakfast was just as excellent as on our previous visit. It was a wrench to have to move onwards on the Sunday morning...

“if you have the double room it is above the bar, although you cannot hear much noise. The twin room is above the dining room which i think is only used for bookings of big parties as there is ample eating room in the main bar area”
