Chose this hotel due to the free parking, location in Oak Park, price, and charm of the building. Had no problems finding a space to park. Room was surprisingly large and spacious and well appointed, many windows, comfortable beds. We were in the hotel section, not the motel section. Had some troubles getting to our room but only because we...

We chose this hotel mainly because Chicago hotel prices are stupid! We figured we could hop on the "L" and avoid the ridiculous prices. While this isn't cheap by most city standards, it's a lovely, warm and welcoming hotel. The little bar that's attached and separate dining area where we had breakfast had a huge amount of charm! The rooms...

This hotel is located near the historical district of Oak Park. You can stay in the main hotel or the annex. We chose the annex since the price was right, but we still had full access of the main hotel area. It is within walking distance of things to explore - Frank Lloyd Wright and Hemingway attractions, local businesses and...

Note that the lobby is sunken, and there are two street entrances. You will have to carry your bags up and down 4 stairs no matter which door you use. YMCA excercise rooms are good. Easy walk to CVS, Dunkin doughnuts, boutique shops, restaurants, bars, bus, Metra, Green line. Ask to be in old building and for safe deposit box.

Kind of nostalgic, throw back old building. The lobby is quaint but small, no coffee in the morning. You have to go to the adjoining restaurant for $2.50. The elevators are also small and slow; the beds are small too. After thinking about it, if you are small, this place would be a 4 star but regularly, it's an average...

Note my prejudice: I don't have to travel to the Loop during the rush hours, and my grandchildren live a ten minute drive from the hotel. But I have stayed in the hotel proper (when Herself is with me) and in the "motel" section (when alone). The rooms are clean and pleasant, the food is good, the bar is a...

Exceeded our expectations . Courteous, helpful staff. Great location. We found two clean, modernized and comfortable rooms , with great beds . Nice shower. We had a tasty dinner at nearby Cucina Paridiso, 814 North Blvd. Highly recommend it.

A friend and I were in town for a Festival. I liked the location and previous two stays at the Carleton. This experience wasn't as great. We stayed in the Motel section, which we had done once before. It has a retro '60's type of vibe. But, our room seemed a bit unkempt. There were messages on the phone, from...

Nice hotel but the front desk staff made you feel like they were doing you a favor by checking you in. Called Manager and he gave a lukewarm apology for it. Stayed in the motor inn part which was kind of minimalist but clean. Could hear those above you. A nice, welcoming staff would have made a big difference.

Clean hotel with old fashioned decor and carpets. It's surrounded by pokestops if you're interested. Approx $38 from the airport. Check in and check out was a breeze, there's free wifi, and the dude that was there to check us out was really pleasant. The hotel has two restaurants, one is quite popular with the locals - Poor Phil's? It's...
