There is no doubt that Martine and Jean-Phillippe are good hosts and we were made to feel welcome in what is very much their family home. This is not your average guest house/hotel but a rather quirky family museum adorned with memorabilia and artefacts from their careers and life everywhere you turn. We arrived on an exceptionally hot afternoon and...

Martine and Jean-Phillippe Lafont were the most welcoming of hosts providing us with a faultless overnight stay in their beautifully restored 17th C farmhouse close to Houx. Martine's 'painterly' eye for detail is evident throughout from the box lined paths of her exquisite French garden to the traditional reception rooms furnished with an eclectic collection of ancient and modern paintings...

Well what a find. It might be in 'the back of beyond' but it is a magical place to stay. Martine, the owner and top class host, is superb as is the house, the bedroom, the gardens, the pool and the overall location. The evening meal and breakfast are simple but excellent and reflects the fact that all are prepared...

The ancient house stands in a beautiful garden with a warm swimming pool in a sunny courtyard. We stayed two nights as we planned to visit Chartres and particularly wanted to see the light show in the town which was spectacular and this was the perfect spot.
