Unbelievable luxury , stunning view of azure ocean from the bed! A few steps and you’re walking in the sea. We snorkelled with incredible fish and turtles straight from the bungalow.(No previous snorkelling experience!). The restaurant was great plenty of choice at every meal, very good gluten free options. The staff were amazingly attentive and so warm and friendly. The mist comfortable bed ever…literally, and a wonderful outside bathroom. This was our second visit and we’d return in a heart beat.
Stayed at Komandoo for around two weeks, first international travel after pandemic. It’s a very long flight from USA west coast, but received warm welcome right after arriving at airport. I arrived at early morning, staff helps directly for taking the sea plane to the resort worry-free! The room surprisingly already ready when I arrived in morning (usually hotel will have a check in time after 3pm or something). I got the over water villa for the whole stay. The buffet is solid, restaurant and main bar/spa took around 5/6 mins to walk from the room. It could be a bit tiring everyday to walk, will suggest to walk on the beach rather than the inner path, there are a lot of fishes/baby shark everyday! Wasn’t disappointed by the food at all even I stayed a bit longer, something it’s simpler but can always find food to enjoy. Staff are extremely welcoming and always had good chat with them during the time eating there. Shout out to the Chef providing all those exotic cuisine! I enjoy everyday (from starter to desert) Spa is pretty relaxing, they got good package deal if you purchase more, I bought a 5 hours gold package and tried mostly every different message, I enjoyed a lot! Didn’t tried a their water sport but I joined the sunset cruise and sea turtle snorkeling tour, I found it very relaxing and not expensive at all. The house reef itself it’s amazing! I saw sea turtle multiple times, sharks, and lots of different fishes. Will suggest to bring your own snorkels mask - there is the full cover one that you don’t need to bite the tube all the time, also it’s safer during pandemic. You can also rent it on the resort and it’s not expensive. Gym is fully equipped (not so many people using so I found it very nice and private :)) One incident happen is I got food poisoning/allergy from most likely restaurant on other island. It’s unfortunate but luckily the doctor on the island is super nice and helpful (she also help the COVID test at departure). She prescribed medication and vitamin and I feel much better after taking them. Feel very touching that reception promptly asked if I need special food during the time and they send it to my room (it’s a bit distance to walk, especially when you are not feeling well). They also reached out to me multiples times to ask my status and if I need the doctor following up. The restaurant manger also reach out to see if they can provide any custom food! Dustin the resort manager also come to check for me. What stands out the most is the waiter Riza! He has been at the island for 20 years! He made every of my meal enjoyable! He send food to my room and worry about my health after I notify them. He made ginger tea for me after meal, and also took me for a nice house reef snorkeling and film the underwater sea life with his gopro for me! He is extraordinary that he doesn’t need to be that nice just for job, for that I deeply respect and appreciate him to make my trip wonderful (not feeling lonely doing Maldives solo trip at all). I leave the place with full heart, got very good rest after very stressful years. Met some very nice people. Thank you Dustin and the team for the hard work to make our time wonderful there. We stayed for 1 week at Komandoo Island Resort and absolutely loved it. As an adults only resort it appealed to us for the perfect, quiet get away holiday to chill, relax and to get pampered. We loved all from the diving and snorkelling to the meal experiences and spa. Diving and snorkelling Pro-Divers Mel, Adi & Jürgen helped to get us truly great dive experiences on the house reef and nearby dive sites. House reef and dive sites we visited are showing results of coral bleaching, but not quite as bad as anticipated. The marine life is making more than up for the shortfall here. The sheer abundance of colourful reef fish is a spectacle to be seen for sure. We absolutely loved the diving during our stay. Snorkelling at the house reef will have you see turtles, baby sharks and baby sting rays too….. Restaurant & Bars Please go all inclusive if you can, it’s totally worth it and helps keeping your stay stress free. Great food at the main restaurant - the choice is excellent and they have different specials on every night. We felt spoilt for choice every day and a special thanks to our waiter Aanis who looked so well after us during our stay. We had a free meal included at Kommando’s fine wine and dining restaurant, Aqua. It was a great experience and the food and drinks were superb. During our stay we booked a 5 course lunch at 5.8, the underwater restaurant nearby, only a short boat ride away at Hurawalhi Island Resort. Please go there if you can, it was an amazing experience and the food was just simply perfect. Not to leave out here the lovely bar team at the main bar and also at the Thundi Bar, which we walked to for pre-dinner drinks, as it was closest to our villa. All very welcoming and remembering our preferences of bevvies, which was lovely. Housekeeping and staff other A massive thanks to Vishah who ensured our room was fresh and clean every day and the minibar stocked up. Great teams are working behind the scenes for sure from reception to the landscape gardeners and maintenance team. The chefs & teams working tirelessly in the kitchens to help those amazing buffets being build up for each setting. Spa team A massive thank you to the spa ladies, who helped us relax and getting pampered on our last day. You did an amazing job for sure. Thank you so much. If you are looking for the perfect stay away from home, Komandoo has got it all. …
A holiday in the Maldives was on my bucket list; trouble is, now I’ve been there, I can’t cross it off. I want to go back because it truly is the most amazing place on earth. It’s beautiful no matter what side of the island you’re on. There’s a lot of talk on chat boards about going for the sunset or sunrise side. It’s like choosing between stunning and outstanding. There is such a relaxed, chilled feel to the place and, if you’re like me, your Garmin will panic when it reports stress levels in single figures. Once you take your shoes off, you leave real life rubbish behind. We were in a ‘simple’ beach villa. It was large, comfortable and we had our own little bit of beach. Going in July and off-season, meant the place was quiet anyway. You really could stay in a couple bubble as much as you wanted. The food was fantastic and you got your own waiter - the wonderful Aanis - for the whole stay. There’s so much wildlife to see from the bats to the lizards to the baby sharks that would swim beside you as you sat at the edge of the sea. It’s a truly wonderful place. Only negative is the flight there and back. Currently, you can only get a direct flight with BA from November to March. We had long layovers that were suddenly extended just before the holiday finished. Next time, we’ll try to get a connecting flight in Europe.…
First trip to the Maldives and worth the long journey. A beautiful island with lovely staff, great food, fantastic snorkeling and very comfortable villas. We felt that the sunrise side of the island was best but it is all lovely and we left with lots of memories
We were in Komandoo Jun 22 for our third trip; our service through Male was handled extremely efficiently by the agent who works in conjunction with Angelfish Travel in the UK who have always given us a 5 Star service experience. Komandoo continues to deliver a relaxed feeling with just the right amount of customer interaction from the fabulous CHAMPIONS who make the Island tick and keep customers extremely well cared for in all areas. The Island has been active for 24 years now and the sea defences are starting to deteriorate to the detriment of the Island beauty. It would be a crying shame to not re-invest in such a wonderful place in the Maldives. Whilst we were on the Island my wife had some medical care from the on site Doctor. The care she received was nothing more than Fantastic, she could not of been any better; a really valuable asset to the Island a credit to herself for the service she provides. We would just like to say that we hope all is still well with her and her family.…
Loved being here. Such a beautiful place with the friendliest of staff. Great food with plenty of choice. Wish we'd known about the app beforehand as we missed out on knowing everything that was going on for the first couple of days. Perfect place to chill, relax and enjoy.
My wife and I went to the resort for our honeymoon in July 2022. We stayed for 4 nights on a water villa with jacuzzi. The whole trip was incredible, all the staff were super friendly and helpful making our stay as comfortable as possible. Furthermore, there are lots of fun activities to do on the island from water sports, diving, spa treatments, cruises, etc. as well as an amazing out of food included in the all-board stays. Falhu restaurant has an incredible amount of dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets. Furthermore, the whole trip was great value for money. We ended up spending less than what we budgeted and still had a fantastic trip.
I normally don't write many reviews on trip advisor, just purely forget to post returning back home... however Komandoo was very special and heres a couple of reasons why. Firstly before i go into detail i want to start off with that me and my wife are vegetarians including no eggs or fish... so as you can imagine already a tough couple to deal with when it comes to food especially in an island which has many items imported. Weather in July When we booked Maldives, I spent months looking at the weather forecast, going on Instagram, watching the Komandoo cam to see what the weather was like each day. The weather on news channels always showed rain and thunder storms which can put many couples off going in July as it's their "moonsoon" season. However when we arrived, we were blessed with blue skies and sun! The weather was completely the opposite of what any forecast showed us! Out of the 9 days we were there we only had 1 day of pouring rain.... also when it rains... its RAINS!!.... but as part of being on an Island you will get change of weather and days where its picture perfect. I would tell any couples or family going in July, just embrace it and enjoy any weather that comes your way as the bad weather does not last long at all. Komandoo Champions (Staff) The staff who are called Komandoo Champions definitely live up to their name. Every one we spoke to was lovely and very helpful. They definitely go above and beyond. They will make every effort to come and talk to you and accommodate any requests. We have never been anywhere where the level of service and commitment has been this good. I want to give a special mention to some of the staff who made our time on the island memorable. Aanis - Aanis was our waiter who was allocated to us during our stay. He was very friendly and helpful. He always gave a 5 star service even on the days where he was rushed on his feet. He also made sure that we were always comfortable and always gave us the best spots to spot fishes, ray's and turtles when snorkeling. We got to know Aanis really well and felt like he was one of our friends (he is now). We will definitely be asking for Aanis again when we return back to Komandoo. Paandian (Chef) - The first day we met Paandian, we told him that we were vegetarians and everyday that we stayed there he always remembered. So when we would go for lunch and dinner, he would advise us on what we could eat. He makes the best pasta (which we ate nearly everyday). He always went above and beyond and made finding food to eat very easy. If we could not have certain foods that had animal products, he would make every effort to source alternative. Sim - Sim was an amazing host. We met Sim on the second day and she was enthusiastic and really energetic all the time. She was always up for helping us out when we needed it. Also a big shout out for helping me when I cut my leg on the coral. The cut was not as bad as it looked but Sim did an amazing job making sure it's on it's way to fully healed. Food As vegetarian, we were expecting it to be very difficult to find food and were expecting to live off chips and pasta all week. However we were far from wrong! From the minute we arrived, the broad range of dishes blew our minds. Each day the quality of the food and the dishes presented just kept surprising us. The chefs were amazing in letting us know what we could have and couldn't based on our dietary requirements. Things to do on the Island When you arrive you will have plenty of opportunities to see what activities you would like to do on the island. Some activities are more pricey than others so it's very dependent on your budget. We did the following: 5.8 Underwater Restaurant - Highly Recommended Snorkeling Introduction - Great way to start your snorkeling adventure. Adi was an amazing instructor. Turtle Tour - Highly recommended. You can see turtles on the Komandoo Island and this tour will allow you to see many more and different sizes. You also get the opportunity to see plenty of colourful fishes and if you are lucky some very friendly sharks and Ray's Breakfast by the pool - We took the opportunity to have breakfast in the pool whilst they push a breakfast boat to you. This was amazing and well organised by Aanis. Aanis made sure the weather was perfect for us. Sunset Cruise - This is a good way to end off your trip. If you are lucky in July you will see a clear sunset and dolphins. A couple who went a few days before us so a group of Dolphins. However when we went we saw two in the far distance. The staff on the boat will make every effort to locate a spot for Dolphins. I really hope this review helps others couples and families and gives them more clarity that despite it being the "moonsoon" season, you will be in luxury paradise. Komandoo is an amazing place who have amazing staff! We will forever miss this place. Rikesh & Davina…
When we arrived at this island it described itself as a paradise. That was a massive understatement. The level of service provided throughout the resort was first class. The restaurant served fantastic food with an abundance of options, and our dedicated waiter, Yoosef, was welcoming, extremely friendly and funny. He made us feel very relaxed and served us exquisitely. The rooms were spacious, very clean and had an excellent air conditioning unit (much needed). We upgraded our room to an Ocean Water Villa and it was money extremely well spent. The views are spectacular andnit was very quiet and private. The 2 bars on the island served excellent cocktails and the staff were first class in their service, friendly welcoming and knowledge of drinks. The experiences that can be purchased within the resort are good. The 5.8 restaurant on the sister island is a must!!!!! As was the sunset cruise seeing the wild dolphins jump beaide the boat. The resort spa is another must after having, without doubt, the best massage i have ever received. The staff there were incredibly friendly, attentive and professional. Our representative at the hotel, Sim, deserves specific mention and extra praise. She welcomed us with a professional yet personal greeting and her infectious and bubbly personality was an absolute joy to behold. Nothing was too much bother and she helped us with any problem/query we had, no matter how minor or trivial. All in all, this was the best holiday we have ever been on, together or individually, and i would not only highly recommend this resort, i have already started saving up in order to return.…
