Stayed June, 2022. Room was kind of dirty, bunched up carpeting, disgusting stained seat in arm chair. The AC worked on and off. There is no food service other than snacks in the lobby. Clearly not up to Hilton standards. Look elsewhere
aside from the lakefront. The central location is perfect & the art fair was an added bonus. And extra points for whomever was in charge of weather! I was surprised to find the rate was lower than GI down the street.
I have been a Hilton Honors member for many years and stayed at plenty Hilton, or Hilton affiliated hotels. This might have been the worst. We can I begin? To start, within the first 5 minutes, their was a spider on the ceiling. The wooden (old) blinds in the room had to be held closed with my travel toothpaste box. otherwise they would slide open on their own and let the light in. The room needed a good painting, as their were areas of flaking paint on the ceiling. The bathroom here was TINY! I know what 12"x12" tiles are. Your standing area in front of this tiny sink was literally 12.5 square feet. One could hardly turn around. And there was hairs on the back of the toilet. We were greeted with a dark, rather large noticeable stain in the carpet, literally 18" stepping into our room. This carpet was OLD and felt like their were crumbs/stuff all over the floor when walking barefoot. When we checked in on Friday evening (4:00pm), their was only 1 valet. While we were checking in, this wasn't an issue. This was a busy time. Anyone who wanted there vehicle, was waiting a long time. There should have been 2 valets. Now while we had a "king bed room," there was not much room for anything other than the bed. Which by the way, wasn't that comfortable. For our nightly room rate, I expected more. On our next trip to Chicago, we will not being staying here again.…
I once spent the night in a hammock in a Central American jungle during a civil war & that was more pleasant than my stay at the Hilton Orrington in Evanston. Room 1: We arrived at the Hilton Orrington in the evening and were given a room on the lower floor. I asked if one was available on a higher floor and they said no. So we checked into our lower floor room. There were blood stains on the bedspread, the hinge was ripped off the closet door, the room reeked of cigarette smoke, and the armchair was filthy and looked as though someone had vomited on it. So the next morning we went down to the front desk, told them of the problems, and were given a room on an upper floor. Room 2: The carpet was covered in stains, the air conditioning didn't work & there were wasps in the room. We asked about having the air conditioning fixed and were told that many of the air conditioning units in the hotel didn't work and that they would put in a work order with maintenance. I asked for a fan, but they said they didn't have any. I would like to note that it was 98° outside during our stay and 78° in our room . So I killed the wasps, tried to ignore the carpet stains & we suffered through the heat that night. Went out for the day, got home at mid-afternoon. The air conditioning had not been fixed. Went down to the front desk and requested a new room. Room 3: The very surly man at the front desk gave us a new room but we refused to move until we saw it. It was 80° in that room & the air conditioning didn't work. Went back to the front desk and asked for a different room. Room 4: Smaller than the other rooms, with stained carpet and a postage stamp size bathroom, but no flying/stinging insects & the air conditioning worked. However, when we woke up the next morning the bathtub was filled with tiny spiders. Fortunately, they were easily washed down the drain with the shower head. Overall the staff at the front desk (with the exception of Brittany & Andy, who were lovely) were apathetic, disinterested, unhelpful &, in the case of the thin man with the beard at the front desk, overtly hostile. I had assumed that the Hilton brand represented quality, but in regard to the Hilton Orrington, this is clearly not the case.…
This place is a rip off. $220 per night gets you outdated, dirty, old room. The windows have wood shutters for drapes/curtains. The shutters didn’t work so the way they kept them shut was with band aids and plastic tape and it did not work let alone keep the light out. Duct tape would have worked better!! The bathroom was dirty and the size of a stamp. There is no restaurant, bar or room service just overpriced junk snacks in the lobby. Parking off a public self pay 3/4 blk away. A Motel 6 off the freeway would be cleaner Give your money to someone that cares!!
We were happy to get reservations at the last minute. The Hilton lobby is OK, but the room was very small and the bathroom was tiny. The towels looked like something they picked up at Goodwill. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was great either.
This hotel is very tired. Only one of three elevators work. Rooms and common areas show a lot of wear and tear. No room service/breakfast despite being advertised as having such. Only basic cable/little in room entertainment. Location is good, but otherwise poor experience
See pic below of the dust from one slate of a blind. There are several blinds in the room. I can fill a cushion with all that dust. So imagine what the beds and bathroom is like! Dust all over the desk chairs. I called front desk and no apologies at all and was told the room was inspected THIS MORNING! Right this minute my son is sneezing with the dust. Not solution offered. So i said should i post this on trip advisor? Get this…. I was told by Andy at front desk to go ahead of that is what I want to do. So here is my post guys! Wish me luck… here till Monday. Update - housekeeper came and i showed her condition of the room and she said “ oh my G**” Room will get cleaned… so why am i posting this? Because i checked in late and tired and hungry and wanted a clean room to settle into. Plus rude Andy… sent me over the edge.…
Wonderful overnight stay. Had king suite. Spacious extra sitting area. Lovely bathroom. Sophia at front desk was delightful and very helpful!!! Would stay again when visiting my son who attends Loyola University. Lovely area!! Ate dinner at Farmhouse and dessert at Insomnia Cookies.
I could give less than 0 star to this Hotel if I can. Rooms are very dirty. You can see they don’t vacuum the carpet after a guest leaves. Carpet are very old, full of disgusting stains and dust. My family and I were concerned about putting our feet on the carpet. We found all kinds of stuff, nails, candies, popcorn and more. Don’t look underneath the bed, you might be surprised of what you can find there. Bathrooms have mold, elevators break, and only one for the whole hotel was in service. We got a letter from the manager apologizing for the inconvenience of the elevator issue but unfortunately they wouldn’t be fixed during our stay. Stay away from this hotel. The only positive about it is its location and lobby.
