This hotel is a bit rundown and dated. Gold and green carpet, ratty couch. The bed was rock hard and the pillows were flat. The hot water took forever to heat up. On the positive side, the water pressure was good in the shower and the shower products smelled nice. All in all we will not be back.
SpringHill Suites Review We arrived on a Saturday night around 10pm, staying for two days. Two adults with two teenage children. Check in (and out) was very easy. Staff was very friendly, and always accommodating with things such as extra towels, bandaids, etc. The biggest things I check for when staying someplace is how clean is the location/room, cost, distance I need to travel too and what amenities are included. We reserved a suite with 2 Queen beds and a pull out sofa. We had more when enough room, especially with messy teenagers. I will give this location a 5 star for cleaning. Our room was clean, not smelly, obvious clean sheets/blankets, and you feel like you could walk barefoot in the room (which had carpet). The continental breakfast, which was included in the room charge, was very good. They had an assortment of hot foods, as well as cold cereal, yogurt, fruit, juice and coffee. The pool was open until 11 pm each night, which the teens took complete advantage of. While it would have been nice to have a hot tub (I would have used that while the teens played), you can’t have everything. Location was about 30/45 minutes to downtown Chicago, depending on traffic. It was also about 30 minutes from a family member that we were visiting. All in all, the location was perfect considering the price. Our hotel bill for 2 nights was less then $375, and it included free parking which you will not get at a downtown hotel. Finally, on Monday morning while waiting for my travel team to get themselves around, I sat downstairs in the breakfast/lounge/lobby area. While I was working on some emails and talking on the phone, I watched the hotel staff clean and disinfect the entire lobby area, including elevators, bathrooms, etc. While I normally do not spend a lot of time in the this type of common area while traveling (I’m usually in my room), this is the first time I have seen cleaning such as this. Overall, I would completely recommend this hotel, and would personally stay here again.…
we had a very good stay here. the staff were exceptional, the young man Mark was always very helpful. Kimberly and Eric were so hospitable. the breakfast had healthy options, like ground flaxseed and nuts.
Stayed here as missed a connecting flight. So glad we were placed here. The reception staff (sorry guys, but didn't get your names) were super helpful, and after a traumatic taxi ride to the wrong hotel, they made us feel at ease. As we arrived late, the little shop was great as we were able to buy food/drinks, and they stocked everything you would need for a stay and reasonably priced. Hotel room was very comfortable, with fridge, microwave and coffee maker. They arranged a taxi for us back to the airport the following morning.
We stayed here for one night during our road-trip college tour. The staff at the desk were wonderful, the room was fine. What surprised me was the bill the next morning. We had purchased a beer and two little bottles of white wine from the store, which added $50 to the bill. The prices for the beer/wine are not displayed in the little store, so our mistake not to ask, but $20 for the wine and $7 for a beer seemed quite high.
We were in town for a hockey showcase along with several other teams that stayed at this hotel and the staff did an amazing job accommodating everyone. There was always plenty of food options/quantities for breakfast and the staff was great with regards to ensuring any special needs were handled. As an Ambassador Elite member, the service was exactly what I was expecting, and the staff did not disappoint.
We stayed on the 2nd floor for three nights this past weekend. I would have requested a different room but it was Thanksgiving weekend and the hotel was full. Our specific room (205) was in need of major updating/repair and cleaning. The first thing we noticed upon entering the room was the smell. It lingered all weekend. It smelled like sour yogurt mixed with a garlic breadstick. Seriously. Both of our kids also developed coughs while we were there, and I honestly believe it was due to mold. It was visible along the crease of the bathroom wall and ceiling. The closet and one of the walls had what appeared to be splatters of liquid (coffee?) on them, which was visible to the eye and clearly missed by housekeeping. The carpet was dirty throughout and ratted/torn along the seams near the bathroom. I didn't want to take off my shoes, and having to touch the carpet with my bare feet after showering grossed me out. There was a small hole in our ceiling that was covered by bright blue tape, and the walls throughout appeared dirty. There were stains on the sides of the box spring and one of our comforters had a large stain on it. I was thankful we had two beds because the couch was gross and dirty looking, I would not have wanted my kids sleeping on it. It pains me that we spent $400 staying here. I've stayed at other Springhill locations and this one is by far the worst. We contemplated canceling our last night, but it was too daunting to pack everything up with two young kids and move for just one night. Friends and family stayed in other rooms and theirs appeared to be in better shape. Would not stay here again. Staff, on the other hand, were very friendly.…
We needed a hotel with three beds (two queens + a sofa bed) and this fit the bill. Solid, as-expected property all around. The lady checking us in made sure to give us a stack of bedding for the sofa bed since it wasn't kept in the room itself. We later realized there was no comforter included, and she was able to provide a couple extra blankets which worked well. Room seemed very clean although one of the sheets provided for the sofa bed had a stain on it that hadn't quite come out in the wash (it was clearly washed, though, so not a significant concern). The normal beds were really quite comfortable and we slept extraordinarily well. Can we steal these beds and take them home? Room was a great temp and the AC / heat unit was powerful. The room has a layout that is slightly less common for hotels in the U.S. so worth describing here: rather than the bathroom being near the door/hallway edge of the room, it's near the window, with the hallway door opening into a full-width sofa / sitting area (mini table and fridge / kitchen sink but no cook surface), then a partial dividing wall, then the two queen beds across from and open to the bathroom sink and vanity, with a door leading into the toilet/shower area which is against the outside wall of the hotel. Seemed to work just fine as long as you don't need to make significant use of the bathroom sink while others are trying to sleep in the queen beds. Our room had a distant but beautiful view of the Chicago skyline at sunrise! Breakfast was restored to pre-COVID levels and very good / typical. It was opened at the scheduled start time to the minute with all food fully stocked. Hot tray of scrambled eggs (the probably-from-a-mix foodservice kind, sigh) plenty of pastry/muffin options, bagels, two waffle makers, a pot of oatmeal, yogurt, and plenty more. Wifi was solid, no worries there. Free parking. Would not hesitate to make this stop again if traveling through the area.…
Room was dingy, not clean at all, carpet was not clean, room 212 has a “machine” running all the time - some type of generator or something - very annoying. Not happy with cleanliness at all! Swimming pool was gross too - green mold growing around.
Traveling and wanted to find a reasonably priced hotel. This was perfect. Room sizes were generous with separate sitting area, clean, mini frig, very quiet. The staff was friendly. Free breakfast was delicious an great way to start our day. Not too far from downtown Chicago.
